"life is about change, sometimes it’s painful, sometimes it’s beautiful, but most of the time it’s both."

An eyebrow quirked up in question. That title. He’d read it somewhere before: La Charani. He’d have to look it up again because it wasn’t coming to him straight away. Elijah stood up straight again and held his hands up in a friendly surrendering gesture.
“Noah and Kizzy came for her, but I set her free before that.”
When she let her anger subside and she looked at him like that, filled with embarrassment and regret, he couldn’t help but smile back at her. “Don’t take it too hard, I doubt she’d hold a grudge against you for being a bit late.” Elijah stepped around her to go to his door, as he did so he rubbed the last place she hit. It just so happened to be a bruised spot from Noah beating him a few days before.
“You look pretty tired. Let me at least bandage you up before your trip to Adelise.” It wasn’t a question, she looked downright exhausted and he wanted to help.
Brynn stands very still, eyeing him warily as he moves around her. Witch hunters didn't have any cause to be kind to fairies. In fact it was only twenty years ago that they massacred the royal family of Herros. This chagri's chagri may appear nice, but Brynn wouldn't be surprised if there was a wolf hiding beneath his sheep's clothing.
"I don't need 'bandages', I heal faster than you chagri's chagri."
She turns when he's almost completely behind her, facing him with a steely look. She may feel bad for beating the snot out of his handsome face, very handsome she notes once more, but that didn't mean she forgave him for almost harming her chagri. And there was something about him that she couldn't put her finger on, something... Oh.
"You're the twin."
And suddenly she knew exactly why he did what he did. She didn't like that one bit. Matt and Kizzy were Arim, and it's a sin to force Arim to part.
Since the incident he seemed to become everyone’s own personal punching bag. Elijah tried to block her but gave up when she was pulling his collar like he was a chained animal. Flustered, he shook when she freed him and took several steps away from her. His hands flew up in a defensive position. That is until she mentioned the name of his possible hostage.
“Oh Adelise!” he smiled in memory of how nice she was to him despite the situation. “I let set her free already, she’s safe I promise.”
Unlike Noah, Elijah wasn’t going to insult her for being days late in saving her assigned witch. Even though if it had been someone else, Adelise might not even be alive anymore he definitely wasn’t going to mention that either. It wasn’t his place to lecture her.
Brynn started at him like she was going to hit him again, but she pauses with her fists curled in his jacket. Her perceptive eyes dug into his own, finding nothing but truth. And like a wave of nausea, she felt absolutely horrible. She pushes him back at least two feet, looking anywhere but him. Late, she was very late.
"La Charani. She came for her?"
That was the only thing that made sense, the phoenix wouldn't let her best friend be in danger for long. Sometimes Brynn wondered why Kizzy even bothered to ask for an Iyrk for Lissie. Not that Brynn was complaining too much; she adored Lissie. Sighing, she meets his eyes with a sheepish look. There's an apology there.
Dr. Grasshopper is fix my finger. Thank you Dr. Grasshopper.
The force from the hit knocks him back a step and he puts his fingers to his lips to wipe the blood away. The fairy in front of him looked battered and tired, but she was still here trying to do her job. The only sad part about that was the fact that he didn’t have anyone locked up at the moment.
“I’m sorry love, who are you looking for?” this happened to him a lot. Fairies would show up to save their witch from his hunts but they weren’t usually so late, the last time he had a witch in his possession was a few days ago. Lissie to be exact, but he couldn’t be sure this was her protector.
He knew her as a fairy because of his protection on his house, it didn’t keep him protected from fairies or vampires and she definitely wasn’t a vampire, she had way too much color in her cheeks to be dead.
Brynn did not circle half the globe for some rich, slightly handsome chagri's chagri to pretend he didn't know what she was talking about. With a huff, she punches him again. And then again, before yanking him further into the house and shutting the door behind him. Turning around, arms crossed, she raises both brows at him in a look she hopes is intimidating. She wasn't very good at intimidating, she wished they taught a course on it in conditioning.
"Adelise. The chagri with many faces."
And all of them beautiful. Brynn would very much like to see any one of those faces right this moment. She couldn't fail in this task, the Great Api herself had given it to the young Iyrk and she wouldn't disappoint the queen. Besides, Lissie was very nice. And she made Brynn delicious teas.
Barely a week after being assigned to Lissie, Brynn was assigned to two more chagri. And with a scattered brain like Brynn's, there was a lot to keep up with. She felt like she was constantly on the go, and she found her wings growing weary from globe trotting for most of the day. Lissie was typically an easy case though, so when she heard a jingling (the signal that Lissie was in trouble) she was more than a little worried.
Though she flew as fast as she could, she ran into trouble with her other chagri on the way. By the time she got to the witch hunter's apartment, she was sore from bruises she hadn't had time to heal. So maybe she punched him much harder than necessary when he walked through the door. She almost apologizes.
"Where is she?"
