hi! which of your linen sets do you reach for the most?

in the summer definitely oatmeal or river stripe (white with blue stripes)! so chic and comfy and easy. in the winter i wore my black set often, i also felt sooo cool! i don’t usually wear black so when i do i feel extra chic haha

loved seeing your makeup bag essentials, what shade of the rhode bronzer do you use?!

Hi Rach - I have a question about skin care. You mentioned you use prescribed azelaic acid - before you got the prescription did you always struggle with adult acne or was it a postpartum thing? I’m really struggling with cheek and chin breakouts post weaning and never had an issue with acne before..

i have always struggled with my skin! for me it wasn’t super obvious though, i didn’t always have a ton of breakouts I had a lot of under the skin texture and closed comedones. so in photos from the last few years my skin looked clear but it never felt smooth or glowy to me because i could feel and see the little bumps, and i would get breakouts here and there periodically. i didn’t find that pregnancy or postpartum really affected my skin that much, if anything id say my skin has generally trended better as i age. i had periods of more clear skin but the closed comedones were pretty consistent most of my adult life. they didn’t bother me a ton though! it wasn’t until around Christmas of this last year i started breaking out really badly that i pursued a prescription and it worked soooo well for me.

azelaic acid really changed the game for me, that combined with regular chemical exfoliation has given me completely smooth clear skin and now other products can actually do what they’re intended for bc they’re not breaking me out or not able to penetrate bc of closed comedones! my face skin never felt like the rest of the skin on my body, it always seemed bumpy or oily etc whereas now the skin on my face feels as smooth and normal as the skin on the inside of my forearm, if that makes sense!

Hey Rach! I recall you saying you didn’t do any sleep training with your girls. What was your approach to baby sleep? I don’t want to sleep train but I feel like I’m in the minority (at least of my peer group). It just doesn’t feel right, though…

we never sleep trained! i think everyone should do what feels right to them and what works for their family. we responded to all night wakes, and i didn’t night wean until around 16 months. waking to eat is developmentally normal and expected. both of my girls naturally slept through the night around 18 months! don’t worry about what anyone else is doing or what they say. follow your instinct!

Hi Rach, love your skincare recs and wondering if you recommend the caudalie vinoperfect serum? I saw you were using it a couple of months ago!

so funny i just re-ordered this like two days ago! i finished the big bottle (the 50ml i think) after 4.5 months of daily use. i really love it, i definitely think it has evened and brightened my skin tone. I noticed results of fading dark spots (acne scars and sun spots) after about 2 months of use! so i decided i would get another big bottle and then re-evaluate if i still need it in my routine. i also have been religiously using face sunscreen the last 6 months which has also helped even my tone!

thanks to the azelaic acid i haven’t had any active breakouts since around January of this year so i don’t really have any new spots etc thankfully! so i wanted to go through another bottle to see if i notice any difference from now over the next few months.

i have used several caudalie products over the years and always find them high quality. i also like their eye cream and their night cream in the pink jar (though it does have a bit of fragrance for sure). my MIL is French and loves caudalie! also if you order directly from their website they do great sales and gifts with purchase. i ordered from them last time and got it 25% off and got 100 rewards points and then this time when i placed my order i got a free tote bag and a full size toner with my points!

Do you have an Oura ring? Do you like it?

i do! I’ve had one for over 3 years now, i love it! i used to wear it 24/7, recently I’ve been only wearing it at night because i just want to only wear my new pinky ring on that hand! i love the sleep data especially, and it’s really nice to see how active you are on the daily etc! i have an aggressive ring tan line on my right index finger haha

Rach I love your jewelry so much! When would you say you started collecting fine jewelry?

hmmm i would say always! in my twenties i collected silver jewelry from Tiffany and Co and that was most of my everyday jewelry - rings, necklaces, and bracelets - and I still have it all tucked away and can’t wait to pass it down to my daughters when they’re in their teenage years. I wore a silver Tiffany band ring that said I Love You from Dylan for many many years 🥹 Tiffany silver feels so youthful to me for that reason! elevated but not over the top. then after i got engaged and married, my parents gave me a pair of yellow gold earrings from Tiffany’s and i absolutely loved how they looked on me and that really started my transition to wearing mostly yellow gold! so at occasions over the last 5-6 years i have been very lucky to add a piece or two per year. I also collect with my girls in mind and intend my pieces as heirlooms - I love that they notice my jewelry and see me in it every day and form connections and memories with pieces so that they’re extra special to them someday. I also plan to get fine jewelry for my girls at milestone birthdays (like 5/10/15 etc) to have tucked away for them when they’re older and can wear/care for it!

i love jewelry and find it so personal and love wearing my pieces 24/7! when i love something i LOVE it (like sometimes i wish i could wear the same outfit every day haha!) and with jewelry i get to wear it all the time and that makes me so happy.

rach! If I remember right you guys are into photography right? What cameras do you have/like right now?

yes! we have a canon DSLR and several portrait lenses! I really love our 40mm and 80mm lenses. i used our camera to take one of my dear friend’s professional headshots when she made partner at her law firm a couple of months ago!

Hi Rach, in which ways did you celebrate your birthday all month? :)

haha i think it was mostly just the June energy shift, i always feel extra happy in the summer and my birthday month! but my girls and i got cake pops and fun drinks at Starbucks the week before my bday on our grocery trip, did some fun baking bc my friend gave me my cookbook gift early, ordered some new clothes, etc!!

I remember you mentioned creating play invitations for your girls - from what age do you think that makes sense?

oh from a very very young age! even when they’re 9 months plus i would set up blocks in a tower to knock down, something that simple! but definitely after age 1! simple sorting activities, grouping colored objects together, stacking toys, ball drops with lots of balls, building blocks, setting stuffies up, building forts with play silks or pillows etc! and not just for independent play but to notice and join in with them!

i use the youth to the people vitamin c ginger root cleanser (the orange one)! my makeup is pretty minimal, occasional blush and bronzer lately so i find just double cleansing gets everything off! when i double cleanse i like to use the osea ocean milk cleanser first.

prescription azelaic acid 2x/day keeps my skin completely clear!!!

do you surf in your fine jewelry?!

some!! before i surf i remove my necklaces, my two bigger gold bracelets, and my engagement ring. i always surf in my other rings (wedding bands + right hand rings), my engagement ring is just higher profile so i don’t want to bonk it on anything! i do wear it to the beach though! and i usually don’t take my earrings out to surf! my earrings and rings feel very secure. if i was going out on a really big or super choppy day i might take my earrings out but on a typical day i don’t!

i had originally said i wanted the “ocean” colorway but when Dylan was emailing with the company they sent him some stones to choose from and when he sent back a photo of our ocean, they said oh you want aquamarine for that ocean!!! 🤣 and then he had my eldest daughter choose from the two options they sent! it’s a natural aquamarine. their “sky” color! I’m so thrilled with what they picked, it’s truly perfect!
