REFLECTION

As I reflect on this assignment, I did run into a lot of challenges that I found quite difficult to resolve for example, I struggled a lot with the retopology aspect to the assignment and found it tricky to get my head around as it seemed to keep messing up my final models which i found quite frustrating. However as much as I did struggle with this aspect of the assignment, i did enjoy learning about retopology and hat it is used for. I am hoping to get more practice and to learn more about it when the university opens again and I can talk to the lectures about any problems i face through the duration of the assignment. 

On the other hand, I enjoyed completing this assignment as it was satisfying when the fruit started coming together and started looking like the intended fruit. This assignment has given me a lot of practice with Maya, and i have found myself using more aspects to maya than before. During this assignment I used different textures and colours and tools that I never used before which was beneficial as I now know how to work them. I am happy with how my final models came out, however I know i can do better and i will practice trying to improve my skills with maya and adding small details to give the fruit a better look about it.

As I began to move forward with my modelling, I ran into a lot of trouble with retopology. I found this task difficult and quite frustrating, this is definitely a task i will need some more practice with in the future.

here is some screenshots of the strawberry i created on Maya, out of all of my fruit models this was the toughest. I wanted to ensure I created the small seeds and this was quite tricky as they were so small. However, i am happy with the way the overall model came out.

Here is some screenshots of my completed orange model I created on Maya. I found this difficult, as oranges have a rough texture so I wanted to ensure that I achieved that look. During my time of modelling this, I used the texture fractal and ensured to decrease the amplitude to get the rough look and added the colour orange which completed the look.

Reflecting on this, I am extremely happy with how my orange turned out and it improved my skills with Maya and I will definitely begin practising this skill.

Starting to model, after my research of the fruit I will do i began to model my fruit and I found this task tough, it was challenging trying to figure out the best way to make the fruit as realistic as possible and throughout the process I have definitely progressed in my skills with Maya as I starting using techniques i never used before such as map bumping to add a texture.

Reflection

I have really enjoyed my first year experience with the animation course, I came from a different course into this one and have never felt happier! I made some new friends in the course and have had a positive experience with all the lecturers. Additionally, I was quite nervous joining the course as i was worried i would not be able to do any of the technical side to things and be able to use all these brand new softwares which had me very anxious as i didn’t want to fall behind, however the lecturers were extremely understanding and went out of their way to ensure I as aware of how to do things and sending loads of help so no one felt behind. Coming towards the end of my first year in animation, I can confidently say i have improved so much in my art skills and animation skills including using Maya and practising with different softwares such as Zbrush and mudbox, I was completing task I didn't think i could do in a million years! 

Looking back on the year, I have taken a very positive side to it and cannot wait to keep on practising my animation skills, even though the year became extremely tough with my own personal problem, the lecturers went out of their way to ensure I was being given the support to complete the task with as little stress which I appreciated a lot! I look forward to practising some more on maya coming towards the summer holidays and being the lockdown period, he lecturers went out of their way ensuring we were still being taught everything and on constant support. in conclusion, I really enjoyed my first year with the animation course. 

Reflecting on my animation throughout this task has been amazing, I did struggle a long the way but with video support I was able to catch on pretty quick. I feel like i was able to do the task without too much trouble and would happily do it again! As a group i was extremely happy with my group as we all worked together really well, even though we did come faced with some issues with a group member, the rest of us all worked together really well and all agreed easy on the final animation sayings and communicated extremely well. In conclusion, I really enjoyed this task from beginning to the end, everything was enjoyable including brainstorming the ideas on the whiteboard to submitting out final animation, very proud of the work me and my group members completed.
