Jack's savage tribe
The Final Days Continued...
I fell asleep in a thicket of bushes. In the morning the boys went out looking for me, but I could fend them off. Suddenly I smelt something, I smelt smoke! Why couldn't Jack have kept a fire going before & maybe then we could have been rescued and not have to go through all of this. Then I realized he was setting the whole island on fire! I run toward the beach and the boys run after me, then i collapsed in the sand. I was prepared to be killed right there, I was so tired and sick of fighting them. I looked up, there was a naval officer standing right above me! I thought, this can't be, I must be dreaming! The officer thought we were just having fun and playing games. Was he crazy, they were going to kill me! When he realized what really happened he asked who was the leader. I said that I was. Jack was about to say something, but he backed down. He must have not wanted to be responsible for all this mess. Suddenly everyone broke down crying, it's been so overwhelming. I am so happy to be alive, I don't believe it! I thought that keeping the boys on this island under control would be easy, but it wasn't. What have a learned from all of this do you ask? I learned that if you lose order and control people grow savage and society crumbles. I am so glad I could share my story with you. I will never be the same again.

The Final Days
I'm sorry I didn't write for the last couple day, it was so chaotic. As you may see now, we have been rescued, at a very big cost. But let me start at the beginning. After Jack's tribe raided the camp we decided to go talk to Jack and sort things out, try to get everything back to normal. Everything fell apart. Roger threw a boulder down the mountain and killed Piggy, also breaking the conch, our only symbol of order now gone. Sam and Eric were captured, and I saw Jack torturing them! I wondered if he was doing that to everyone in his tribe. I ran toward the beach and stumbled across the pig's head. I then remembered Simon trying to tell us about it that night he died. I took the spear from the pig's head to use as a weapon. That night I went to Jack's camp and I talked to Sam and Eric. They told me of a plan that Jack had to capture and kill me. They would have told me more but we heard footsteps so I ran. I asked if they wanted to come with but they said no. Jack has put so much fear in these boys. To be continued...

I now remember what happened last night. Simon is nowhere to be found. We murdered him in the chant around the fire. Piggy totally denies it, but I know it's true. We've become so savage, we are falling apart. It's only Piggy, Sam, Eric & I left, the rest have gone to Jack and are now following him. I really wished they would just leave us alone, but they raided our camp. They beat us up really badly! We would have shared anything with them, we want to work together and get off this island as soon as possible. We realized after they left what they wanted, Piggy's glasses. We are gonners.

Piggy & I decided to go the Jack's feast. We thought maybe we could get some of the kids to settle down and come back, but that didn't work at all! Jack had his own throne and everything, they worship him! All I remember from that night is after the chant it started to down pour.

What a crazy night! After we got back from seeing the beast on the mountain, Jack tried to vote me out of being the leader! I mean ME? I am a great leader. Good thing everyone else felt the same way, but then Jack stormed off into the jungle & told anyone who wanted to to follow him. I don't know what to do, some of the boys left with Jack. Maybe i'm not a good leader, I can't control anyone anymore. Piggy tried to make me feel better, I put on a smile for him but truthfully I still feel helpless. We heard a horrible screech in the jungle, it sounded like a pig. I'm positive Jack had something to do with it. Simon Slipped away after awhile. I wonder what he was up to, I hope he's okay.

The boys have become so undisciplined. SImon thinks we will get home soon, but i doubt it, we've been here so long. I decided to go on a hunt today with Jack and it was so thrilling! I didn't kill a pig, but I did injure it! We reenacted the hunt after the sun went down they used Robert as the bore. It wasn't good, Robert was bruised and beaten. Jack said that next time we should use a littlun. I don't know if he was kidding or not, i'm worried he's gonna turn on us and kill someone. We went on another hunt the next morning, I didn't really want to hunt, but I needed to regain my leadership status with the group. Jack claimed he saw the beast, so we went to check it out. I SAW THE BEAST. We ran down the mountain to tell everyone else!

We were woken up tonight by Eric and Sam. They said they saw the beast in the trees and I quickly called a meeting to discuss it. They said that the beast tried to hurt them, so everyone except Piggy and the Littluns go out to hunt the beast. We soon got to a part of the island we've never been to before. Jack and I go exploring it alone, and correct me if i'm wrong but i felt like we were connecting and becoming friends again. I realize the boys aren't even hunting for the beat anymore, so we go back and get the signal fire going again.

Today I called a meeting. I talked to the boys about how none of them are following the designated rules The boys tell us how they are still very afraid of the beasts and monsters. I tell them that there is no beast, and surprisingly Jack does too! Then one of the littluns says he's seen the beast and that it comes from the water. Everyone is in panic, Jack says if there is a beast him and the hunters are going to kill it. So much for being calm and rational. All the boys go off running to kill the beast with Jack. Only Piggy, Simon, and I are left on the beach. They tell me to blow the conch but I do not. I know if I do the boys will ignore it and the conch will mean nothing to them anymore. I thought about backing down as leader, but the other assured me that we need a strong & sane leader.

Everything seems to being going rhythmic today, but by the time night falls the littluns become afraid. They are afraid of this thing they call a "Beastie". They have nightmares about it coming from the jungle and hurting them. The older boys begin tormenting the littluns. Maurice stomps on the sandcastles and Roger throws rocks at on of the littluns, not hitting him but throwing them by him to scare him. We were almost rescued today! If only Jack and the other boys in charge of the signal fire would have stayed instead of going out and hunting again, we could have been rescued! When Jack and the others come back we found out they actually got a pig this time. I argue with Jack on what is really important on the island, food or being rescued, then piggy joins in and Jack hits him across the face breaking his glasses. We roast the pig after Jack admits he is in the wrong (never apologizing to Piggy). We eat and chant around the fire, but leave to go down to the beach calling a meeting.

While Piggy, Simon and I are building huts, Jack is out hunting pigs again. When he comes back he doesn't even have any food! The huts were so hard to build today, they kept falling down. I wish more of the boys would help us, I feel like i'm doing everything myself. All the littluns are playing and stuff on the island, we're never going to get this done. Jack doesn't care about any of this, all he wants to do is kill a pig. Jack and I officially hate each other, we wanted to show everyone that we were in this together and swim in the lagoon, but the feelings stayed the same. I saw Simon out of the corner of my eye helping the littluns pick fruit, there might still be some hope in the world.
