AH I didn't do yesterday's prompt, even though I really wanted to. I was BURNING my brain thinking of something with everyday life (funny. because that's an EASY prompt) but I couldn't come up with anything-) so I'm gonna write a excerpt of a one-shot that I will finish later for day 2! ^^ I'll do day 1 too.
The prompt used here is 'Fake Dating For a Mission'.

Together, Just This Once.
The party was bursting with life as Sam and Kit walked into the forest fest. Every creature was paired with another, and some interesting pairs at that. Kit could see lots of unique pairings--a bee and a bird, a gopher with a snake, and lots of others. Good, she thought, atleast we don't stand out as much as I thought we would.
Sam looked around for their target. "We need to find Philip. He should be somewhere in this crowd... but why would he be at a couples party than all places?" He asked himself, scanning the crowd for any night monkeys.
Kit moved around the crowd, still trying to figure out how to move smoothly with heels. She kept wondering how Director Scratch could do it--move so well with those pointy things. She could barely keep her balance!
Suddenly, she felt a little tap on her shoulder, and she spun around to see a pretty purple-haired prairie dog smiling sweetly at her. "Why, hello! Fancy seeing you here!"
Kit blinked. "I'm so sorry, but.... remind me where I've seen you before?"
The prairie dog gave a small laugh. "Why, Penelope of course! You had solved that case when that cholla cactus stung me a while back."
Kit brought her paw up in realization. "Of course! How are you doing, Penelope! Wait--would did you partner up with? This is a couples-only party..."
"That handsome ol' sheriff! He asked me out on a date a few weeks ago, and how could I say no? I'm sure he's talking to some of his friends nearby!"
Kit smiled hearing the happy story. "I'm glad. Say, have you seen a... night monkey around here?" She asked, hoping to move on the case.
Penelope frowned. "No, I haven't. Hey, who are you partnered with?"
The fox flinched, heat returning to her cheeks. You've rehearsed this, you'll be okay. "With my detective partner, Sam! He's a Snow leopard, and he's really sweet and smart! He's also really handsome-"
Wait, that's not what I rehearsed! Why did I say that??
"Oh, how lovely! I can already picture you two in my mind!" Penelope gushed. "Time to find my sweetheart now. Hope you and your lovebird have a great time!"
Kit nodded quickly. "Yeah, you too!" She watched as the prairie dog scurried away with her umbrella. The way she talked about Sam... it was just supposed to be rehearsed..... but when she did say it, it didn't feel like she was lying at all. Even the handsome part. It felt... true. Yes, he really was all those things. But why'd it make her feel so.. jittery?
Okay, stop. You're getting distracted, she scolded herself. Sam had been gone for a while now. Maybe he found Philip! The fox pushed through the crowd, heading towards the drink bar in search of the snow leopard. She recognized his tuxedo among the other creatures, and she rushed towards him.
But what she saw wasn't pretty. A wolf was standing next to him, and she seemed to be saying some things to him...
