This is Big Twins week over at Fantasy Record Label.  I got the party started a few days ago by announcing how eagerly I am anticipating the Infamous In The Hood project.

Today, I am resurrecting the most complete research project I have ever endeavored.

The research project I am referring to is my attempt at documenting the songs that mention Havoc of Mobb Deep’s late brother.  Of course, I am talking about the infamous “Killa Black.” 

Chapter 26 is a song that I had not ever heard until about six months ago when I downloaded a mixtape from Datpiff.

The story started when I watched a video Godfather Part Three posted to his YouTube account.

I think the video is an interview Godfather did in France.  This video is a must watch.  I think it was filmed by one of the country’s top cinematographers.

During the video, Godfather mentions a mixtape he put out on Datpiff called Godz & Kingz.

Track number four is called “Life Is Tragic,” and Big Twins makes a pretty powerful reference to Killa Black.

There is something very important for me to note at this time.  This is a well-known song that appeared on a compilation called Muggs Presents The Soul Assassins, Chapter 1.  This compilation was recorded in 1996 and released in 1997.  In addition to this gem of a song from Infamous Mobb, there is a cut by Mobb Deep called “It Could Happen To You.”

My enthusiasm for Jadakiss is well documented.  This time he has outdone himself:

“Duct tape your daughter.  Tape record her.

Even though life’s a bitch, be thankful for her.”

Speaking of people outdoing themselves, these two American writers from Queens, Capone from Queensbridge and N.O.R.E. from Lefrak, have truly outdone themselves.  The duo’s album, Lessons, is one of 2015′s most sublime listening experiences.

My review of the album is quite simple.  I didn’t know it was possible to hear new music of this style.  I thought the recording industry had issued a dire warning against making songs following the mold of realism. 

Did I mention that Tragedy appears on this album in full force.  Oh, praise the heavens.  This is exactly the music I like.

“Even though I pitched in Queens, I ain’t a Mets fan,” raps Capone.  And that’s not all, the intro features Tragedy speaking in Five Percent rhetoric.  The last song on the album “Foul 120″ is true Five Percent rhetoric so pure that you can recite these raps if you ever find yourself surrounded by agents of the Illuminati if you go backpacking through Europe next summer or take an internship in the entertainment industry.

Can someone please explain how much longer I have to wait until this song is a viral hit?  I got a side bet with some people in Vegas that are official that Bankroll Bookie will be a legit millionaire by the end of the year.

Just to give a short history lesson, the most powerful gambling syndicates in the U.S. operate in Vegas obviously, but they all started in Bama.  There is a syndicate that started at the dog track in Birmingham that hits most of the progressive “Pick Sixes” around the country.  Also, I am pretty sure, the sharp bettors that influence the Nevada baseball betting market are from Bama.  I also know from personal experience, and anybody with a brain is included, that a few people down there have taken an interest in football from time to time.

Anyway, when a kid from Bama calls himself “Bankroll Bookie,” there is a good chance he knows a thing or two about money management.

Here is my review of the video: this video is better than Drive.

I would argue that Hollywood should consider remaking Drive, except tell Gosling that the film will be shot in the Czech Republic.  The sub-plots of all Ryan Gosling movies would make more sense if Trappadon was cast in the lead role.

Killa Sha - “Maskaraid”

This song has no business being this good.

Feeling depressed.  For some reason, it seems that I can’t go to the dentist anymore without feeling like I am on the verge of having a panic attack.

I don’t know much about Killa Sha.  I think he was from QB (Queensbridge).  I think he was friends with Tragedy and Havoc.  At the very least, he was an acquaintance of Cormega.  They were probably friends. 

Unfortunately he had health problems, and, sadly, he passed away.

Bankroll Bookie - YNBM [Mixtape] - Dirty Glove Bastard

Whenever Dirty Glove Bastard and Alabama connect, the result is mandatory listening. 

Dirty Glove Bastard is my best and only source for music out of Alabama.  Alabama is the closest thing we have to a modern day Queens, New York.  It is not fair to compare the two because one is a huge state and the other is simply a city.  My point is that you know this Bankroll Bookie mixtape is going to be great the same way you knew that anything N.O.R.E. ever did was good.

That is why I love Alabama Hip-Hop.  All of it is made with the smooth mafia mentality.

In case you were wondering, my pick for the best album from the first half of 2015, also has Alabama roots.
