“You all need to get out now.” Harry says to the group, startling all of them, especially the girl that only had her feet in. “You’ve exceeded the fifteen-minute limit.”
“Come on, it’s not even busy.” One of the girls says.
“That’s not the point. You’re physically not supposed to stay in a hot tub for that long, and you all have been in for at least thirty minutes.” He puts his hands on his hips. “I won’t say it again.”
The girls inside the hot tub all pout and groan, but do as he says. The girl that had her feet in stands up and looks at Harry with a scrunched face.
“What?” He asks.
“Nothing…it’s just…you could have been a little nicer.”
“You and your friends were blatantly not following the rules. It’s my job to keep people safe, not to be nice.”
“I’m pretty sure it is. I don’t think your boss would like it very much if they heard that you were rude to your customers.”
“You’re not customers, you’re camp counselors who are here for free today.”
“Yeah because your water park almost went out of business. Probably because you were scaring all the customers away.”
Harry narrows his eyes at the girl. He tips the front of his sunglasses down just a hair so he could look into her eyes easier. He notices that her pupils are pretty dilated, so he smirks at her.
“Am I scaring you away?” He steps a little closer to her, crossing his arms over his chest.
She goes to speak, but one of her friends tugs on her wrist.
“Come on, Mel, let’s go find a shady spot to lounge in.”
Mel nods and leaves with her friends. Her gaze lingers on Harry as his lingers on hers. He waved goodbye like a right asshole, so she flips him off to retaliate. He wonders how often he’ll see this girl over the next few months. If it ends up being a lot, then his summer just got a whole lot more interesting.
