Look, I'm one of tumblr's rare cishet users, so I'm aware that my opinion may be biased.

Maybe, the Fossaways cannon event with Dunk is realising he’s never been to a Dr. Or any major medical thing unless it was free clinic or the one time he got impaled in the leg. So baby sugar Daddy in training Raymun and his wonderful lady discover that everyone’s fave Himbo is actually blind as hell. Basically Dunk in glasses

All Rowan&Raymun things will basically be bonus content as they want him platonically. TBH, both have probably already kissed him at this point as a thank you. Raymun and Rowan are training to be the hot rich couple at the end of the bar and they know it.

Dunk has been to the doctor and is now in a position to go regularly, he just doesn't. Every time he was caught and rehomed in foster care he was given a full check up and he regularly got school sponsored physicals when he was in sports. He just doesn't go on his own now because he doesn't view it as a need. He can handle most things himself or just walk it off. Kind of like putting a diver in the deep end of a pool, little to no reaction to the fact it is the deep end of the pool because they have been in deeper waters. Though, I will give you blind as fuck Dunk because I love it.

Due to an unfortunate circumstance of Raymun coming into the room absolutely drunk after being forced to hang out with Steffon for an evening, he both manages to destroy Dunks contacts AND knock over his glasses case causing them to crack. Raymun didn't even know Dunk had glasses until he saw their remains on their bathroom floor and is filled with an extreme amount of dread. He cleans up and texts the rugby group chat "Heyyyyyy broke dunks contacts glasses miss practice to fix it:D" and passes out on his bed.

Raymun wakes up the next morning with a hangover the size of Dorne to a Dunk squinting at him and asking if he really broke his contacts and glasses. To which Raymun remembers all of last night and feels shame bubbling up but Raymun is going to pay for new ones to fix it so he forces Dunk to get dressed, texts Red of the plan (who is immediately abandoning all plans to accompany them to the eye doctor) and the three head out with Raymun having to basically act as Dunk's seeing eye dog. At the doctors Raymun and Rowan immediately go into pretending to be Dunk's parents as a bit and while its not believed, the flash of money from Raymun does allow the Doctors to skirt past the normal Doctor-patient shit and have them be there for Dunk. Dunk isn't even nervous but he is just letting them do what they want as they are paying for it anyway.

Come to find out, Dunk is blind blind and is only a few steps away from being legally blind with what seems to be lenses thicker than a churches window. There's some light bullying through the appointment that does relax Dunk and by the end it, the glasses that are being made, and the contacts are paid for with a single swipe of Raymuns card. As they wait for the glasses to be made (as Dunk is really blind and at leasts needs something and Raymun is rich enough to fast track it) they head to luch where they spoil Dunk like the good sugar parents they are, and this is how they find out about all of the various weird royal encounters Dunk has had so far, beyond the Daeron and Maekar ones they know about.

Rowan and Raymun love their pure, nice, and oblivious boy so much because he is clearly being hit on by so many people and doesn't even know it. The entire lunch is dedicated to jokes about how everyone seems to be at the school for their MRS degree, and it still flies over Dunk's head. But at least now that they know Dunk seems to be being courted by some of the most eligible (and not) people at the school, they might as well game plan it.

The day ends with Dunk getting a new pair of glasses and two more people game planning on how to get him a royal MRS degree, and somehow Rowan manages to get Steely-Pates number to let the old bear in on their plans. Truly, Dunk has never been set up more for success and that is saying a lot about the Crownlands foster care system.

Lyonels hear event HAS to somehow involve dancing

YAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!! Finally getting to Lyonel!!!! AND YES!

TLDR: Dunk won a raffle to attend Royal Charm School, a university esc school made for the various royals of the continent of Westeros and Essos to meet, connect, and get a degree if they so choose.

Due to a holiday the students at Charm School are given a 4 day weekend and Dunk decides he wants to visit home and see how Arlan is doing. He did get a note that his cancer was now in remission a week ago and he wants to celebrate with the man, and despite Dunk's constant agonizing it turns out Arlan is perfectly fine and better than ever. In fact, since Dunk left his friend Robyn Rhysling moved in to help out (not old man yaoi, deeply platonic, still sharing a bed though) and two of Rhysling's nieces have been helping out and have basically taken over Dunk's room. Not that he minds much as he is eternally grateful to have people watching over the old man. They have just been sharing his old massive bed and they invite him to share as well but he refuses. (Mostly due to the fact they are 16 and 17 and kept blushing while mentioning it. Dunk would prefer sleeping on the couch to that)

Dunk catches up with the old man and other crazier old man when on Saturday Steely-Pate comes by with apologies spilling from his mouth as he asks if Dunk wouldn't mind helping with the pub and event space that Sunday. Steely-Pate's husband had to go help his mom and there was a last minute event booked that paid good money, and without hesitation Dunk agrees. The event is apparently a get together for a rich family to celebrate a lesbian engagement. So he dresses in a solid pair of black jeans and a provided yellow shirt, that Steely-Pate tells him to crop to fit/to earn him more tips with a wink.

(Steely-Pate is a good man who wants Dunk to marry rich. Steely-Pate married an older rich man when he was an Otter and now he owns a premiere pub and event space in the nice countryside and was fed enough to become a Bear. He wants that life for Dunk. He has no qualms with it, and Rhysling agrees, Arlan stays out of it.)

Next day he heads to the place in his freshly cropped shirt and helps set everything up, from drinking games, spare tables, and even getting the whole outside are set with various other games including Tug-o-war, which the family specifically requested. It isn't until Dunk is setting up the banners that he realized it is an event for the Dondarrions and Baratheons, lightning on one side of the bar and stags on the other. But he doesn't have time to question before guests start pouring in and Steely-Pate is having him grab another keg barrel because even he was ill-informed about the amount of guests there. (All while lovingly cursing his husband for not mentioning the eventees were royals OR Baratheons.)

With a barrel over his shoulder Dunk walks back in to see his coach, Lyonel Baratheon doing one hell of a speech for his cousin and her wife before locking eyes with Dunk and his hazel eyes glinting with interest like a magpie and a shiny coin. After the speech Lyonel summons Dunk over, telling him to bring the barrel and set it down before asking what gives Dunk the right to crash his families party and show up in their colors, to which Dunk stutters out he's working and helping out his Uncle Pate. (Said man behind the bar and looking intriguied). With a "Well that makes sense" Dunk is allowed to drop the barrel and allowed to go about his work, though when he dropped the keg and flexed his shoulders, there were plenty of wolf whistles.

Halfway through the event Dunk is cleaning a table when Lyonel grabs him by his hips turns him around and basically orders him to be on his side in Tug-o-war. Dunk can't refuse as he is dragged off to the field set up and has rope tied around his waist. He looks to Steely-Pate who instead of doing anything to help is pulling out his camera to record. Game starts and Dunk is giving it his best before Lyonel leaves to grab a drink/look straight at Dunk's back muscles in action, and returns after giving Dunk's ass a nice slap. (The video Steely-Pate sends to Rhysling, Arlan, and his Husband does include a bark of laughter from the man.). Of course Lyonel's side wins with many grumbling that he's cheating by getting Dunk, a non family member to play which the man has to pull the "He's my player, every person I coach is like family to me!" with an exaggerated wink. People still call bull but no one is winning against Lyonel.

Closer to the end of the night when all of the Baratheons and Dondarrions are quite buzzed music starts and dancing commenses. Dunk tries to stick to cleaning and helping about but he soon finds himself being pulled in by a few girls wondering if he could pick them up in a spin. Everytime Dunk tries to leave the group to continue working he is pulled back in or Steely-Pate quickly waves him away and takes care of whatever Dunk was going to do. At one point a buzzed Lyonel takes offense to him constantly trying to leave and stomps on his foot, and tries again, and again, and again until Dunk retaliates. With energy crackling like lighting in the group Dunk finds himself partying the rest of the night away with Lyonel before they all head out and Dunk helps Steely-Pate with the mess. (Though, the guests were rather clean.... probably due to a massive amounts of threats in the group chat from Lyonel about how they aren't going to be banned from another establishment)

They leave everything thats a non-priority for the next morning and Dunk heads home and passes tf out on the couch. Sleeping like a rock until he gets up the next morning to finish up cleaning Steely-Pates establishment. It is late afternoon when they are finished and when Lyonel comes around to give Pate a massive tip for his service and to offer Dunk a ride back with him. Dunk tries to refuse but Steely-Pate forces him to accept as he'll be "too busy" to drive him to the train station. With a sigh Dunk accepts and quickly finds himself in the passenger seat of Lyonels sport car and feeling too afraind to touch anything. But unlike his conversations with Baelor, it flows much easier as Lyonel is a bit more down to earth and they barely notice that 3 hours have passed before they're at the edge of the school grounds.

That night Arlan's old man groupchat wouldn't stop blowing up with Steely-Pate, his husband, and Rhysling plotting on how to get Dunk to become the next Stormlands regent. To throw fuel in the fire Arlan tells them all about the other royal interactions Dunk has had, from princess carrying Daeron to assisting Maekar's young kids to Kiera&Valarr "helping hands" to Dunk's private lunches with Baelor. Arlan then mutes his phone and lets the fire roar. Chaos.

The portrayal of white people who have been violently separated from their own culture stealing the power of black culture and music to try to get reconnected was SO literal and somehow not at ALL heavy-handed or trite. Fkn remarkable.

i wish i had the post on hand but a read i really like is vampirism as disability. you cant work a regular day job, in fact you physically cannot leave your home most hours of the day, you have specific dietary restrictions that alienate you from the social act of breaking bread, you feel condemned to navigate the world at its fringes, maybe your body wont change and develop the way it does for your peers, maybe your body is changing very rapidly into something that frightens people.

its tricky territory because i feel like the trope of the vampire as parasite is very dominant in the cultural consciousness and thats obviously not a connection i wish to draw, but like, you know who else the capitalist ableist world treats as drains on Normal society? in a narrative where the vampire character(s) arent being played as villains i think theres a lot of fertile ground here.

You are so right about that!!!!!!! Doesn't help that Dunk is just so decent. If Dunk was a bad person Baelor would feel better, if Dunk was rich he wouldn't feel too bad, but Dunk is a dude who was a homeless orphan until he aged out of the system and got taken in by an old man who is now in cancer remission. He feels BAD.

Every Semester all of the Charm School Raffle kids are invited to attend a dinner with the Crownlands family as a way to check in and as a philanthropist flaunt to the media. Essentially a "YEAH! WE TARGS AREN'T EVIL! WE HAVE A SCHOOL WHERE COMMONERS CAN ATTEND VIA RAFFLE!!", which still isn't the best but it's not the worst. Baelor pulls Dunk after one of his lectures to ask if Shiera or Brynden gave him a suit for their dinner yet, to which Dunk informs Baelor that they haven't and he's fine with not attending though, he wouldn't know how to act proper. Honestly, he's from Flea Bottom, it probably isn't a good look to have him in their castle.

Now, Baelor has had students refuse to go before, from sports schedule interfering - family issues - health reasons and the like but he has never had a student refuse on the basis of believing that they'd taint the environment. Like Dunk was some parasite or infection. Not a boy who first day princess carried his nephew halfway across the school to the nurses office and now just carries Daeron to his room whenever he passes out at the stables ever since finding out Daeron suffers from insomnia, not wanting to wake him up. Not the man who he hears gave Valarr's car a full check up when he complained it sounded weird, not the man who took a horse kick to the chest for Egg. Hes heard from Valarr and Kiera that they believe Dunk's childhood wasn't great but he wonders what could have happened to make his b- star student feel this way.

Baelor decides it might be best to build Dunk's confidence up a bit more before putting him in front his his family, and since Dunk is an education major and raffle ticket winner, it wouldn't be odd for him to have one on one discussions with Dunk. Hell, he has had many raffle students simply exist in his office so Baelor tells Dunk that Monday and Wednesdays after class he would like him to stay after for some extra mentorship. He is free to decline should Dunk have other duties or need time with friends or family, but for an hour or more, Baelor would love to have Dunk talk with him. Dunk asks if this is some sort of therapy session or a mentorship think, to which Baelor replies with why not both. Dunk gives an awkward chuckle and agrees. Apparently, starting now.

Baelor questions what about attending dinner makes Dunk nervous, and is a unimpressed by the answer being all of it. But it is a place to start nonetheless. First private lesson is about the royal family, a genuine answer that isn't what the media presents, or what they pay the media to present. His fathers bad jokes, mothers eye for clothes that Maekar inherited from her, his various brothers eccentrities, about his children and nieces and nephews, ones Dunk have met and ones he hasn't. He tries to make them seem like people, something that helps most of his raffle students when they are nervous about attending, but it seems to do very little for Dunk.... Odd.

The next time Dunk visits theres a whole table set up for them, complete with proper tableware and food. Dunk is confused but before he can question Baelor has him sit for what he is calling an "etiquette" lesson or a practice dinner. If he can survive a few meals with plain boring Baelor, then he can survive one meal with his family as the guest of honor. So Dunk agrees and it starts off miserably awkward. Baelor doesn't know whether to be concerned or upset, but given how Dunk has a hard time talking to him on a good day, he lets it be. So Baelor asks how he got into rugby, and where he expected a nice answer of love for the sport he got something truly upsetting, he got "They'd give free meals and I got to use the showers." before a horrified look from Dunk realizing what he just let slip.

This is how Baelor finds out Dunk had several bouts of homelessness as a child and spent a lot of time doing sports as they always gave players food and let them use showers. One of the schools even let kids use a washer and dryer for free so Dunk often used that, and it was always an excuse to stay at school instead of going home. It is as painful of an admission for Dunk to say and it is for Baelor to hear. Dunk then apologizes, saying it's not something Baelor should have to worry which causes the first crack in Baelors exterior as he practically shouts that it is exactly what he should worry about. Baelor needs to know about the issues of the country he is inheriting, he should be made aware of failures of the various systems in his country.

Dunk freezes, hands gripping the table at Baelors impassioned rant which makes Baelor apologize immediately, not noticing the slight flush on Dunks face. The giant forgives him and they get to awkwardly eating, but as their bellies fill they get to talking more and it's nice as Baelor discusses how the recipe is his mothers favorite and Dunk mentions how there was a nice Dornish couple that was always willing to give him some extra food for yard work, and its how he learned how to make tea. Apparently in Dunk's various running aways he spent some time all over the Westeros continent so he has plenty of stories to tell.

The meal ends with a nice goodbye between them but there's an ache inside Baelor's chest at what he learned as well as a strong desire to leash and pamper.... For a man younger than his eldest son.... oh boy.
