Groal x Lugoli x Phantom found family/polycule where they take care of Phantom. Nothing changes actually except they're greasy now and more anti-Citadel
Isn’t Phantom literally the reason Bilewater is a complete shithole. I really don’t think Groal would try to adopt them
The Citadel is! Phantom just happens to be a cog in the machine that ruined Bilewater. The plausibility of this scenario to me entirely hinges on whether Groal would believe that Phantom supports the Citadel or if they're a pathetic victim of it (Phantom shows no sign of actually supporting the Citadel other than that they work for it and seem to have internalized its work ethic. In fact, they seem very bitter about having been abandoned... not just by GMS, but by the Citadel). And, particularly, while Groal would delight in killing a Choir member I'm sure, Phantom wants to die, so it's not as satisfying. The best way to cross them would be keeping them alive against their will. Additionally, Groal might take an interest in Phantom's nature as a silken being, even the child of a god. They might believe that, if Phantom is fed enough, they could become a powerful weapon.
Either way, yes this isn't super well-based in canon, but this is a thing of hypotheticals which I frequently delight in (see my posts about Phantom resting in Hornet's bellhome, Lace giving up her immortality for Shakra, Lace with a formal thought disorder... all hypotheticals that don't actually happen in canon, and are not even near happening in canon).
In this case the hypothetical is "what if Groal (and Lugoli) for some reason adopted or dated Phantom" and my conclusion is "Phantom would be greasy, as Lugoli is, and mad the Citadel, as Groal is". Which is no more than a funny haha thought, at least on this post.
I mean, Groal isn’t really stable enough to come up with smth like that lol. They killed the Seeker when he would have been an AMAZING ally against the Citadel, and really, the Stilkin & Groal themselves would be more incentivized to murder Phantom given they were the one thing blocking a full assault on the Citadel. Groal doesn’t CARE about logistics, their hate has blinded them completely.
Plus, Phantom, at least on their current state, is arguably less useful than a Reed. They can barely keep themselves together, and given Groal has experience with soul, they’d only keep them alive long enough to torture them by slowly unwinding their body for soul.
It Is an hypothetical, yes, but it can really only work in AU territory.
Also I don’t see why Phantom would have to be ‘adopted’ by Groal or Lugoli. They’re a grown ass Silken Being, not a child.
I don't really want to respond to this in whole bc you're coming off as kinda rude, but first of all, Hornet literally calls their mastery over the longpin "unmatched" (i.e. very VERY good), so I really don't think they're "less useful than a Reed", and second of all, you were the one bringing up the term "adoption". I initially said "take care of", which is different from adoption, I only went more into "adoption" territory when you brought it up. (I don't mean to be rude, just making a correction.)

Besides, yes, Phantom IS good with the longpin, but they’re lacking in every other department. Their focus is unstable as their mask is constantly falling off, in battle they over-rely on lunging from long distances while leaving themselves exposed, and most of all they are OLD. When Hornet kills them, they explode in a thousand strands, there’s literally nothing left of them. They’re far too frail physically to be of use.
Also you can’t blame me for seeing Groal as someone who’s only ever felt rage like have you seen what he does, where he lives?? That guy’s clinically insane 😭😭
I'm not trying to blame you, you're entitled to your opinion and I don't even think it's wrong, it's just a different interpretation to the one I'm talking about in my post.
As for the found family/polycule thing. You can have multiple headcanons/concepts in mind at the same time. The only moment I settle on one idea is for the duration I'm writing a fanfic, and I often write multiple fanfics which entertain conflicting ideas!
For example, Phanton in my Weaver Queen fic is obsessed with Hornet's divinity, but they're severely disconnected from reality to the point that they're a danger to themself and others. Contrast that with my fic titled "Alive", where they're actually a grounding force for Hornet and Lace, with which they can finally find some rest post-SotV. In my Cruel Sister AU, however, they're being horribly abused by Lace and GMS so much that they're too anxious to even be around them, but in their heart, they're sweet and caring. In another fic idea of mine that I haven't gotten to write yet, Phantom emotionally abuses Hornet during Act 3 so they can feed off her silk— I haven't gotten to this one yet because I'm not in a good enough headspace to try, unfortunately.
All of these ideas cannot exist at once, but they do in different fics, sprung from the same mind. Similarly, Groal and Lugoli can adopt Phantom in one fic and date them in another.
And I am not proposing any of these are canon at all. That is what my analysis posts are for— what are they like, what do they do, what's their story. You can recognize them because they're typically longer and include citations from the game (screenshots or in game text). Posts like the one at the start of this chain are not analysis posts, they're me playing dolls.

There's a rule in fandom etiquette which is "don't like, don't read", which I expect those reading my posts to understand and follow, as do I. I thought the brevity and silliness of my original post was sufficient to denote that it is none I want to fight anyone over.
