Can you please make a Ryland Grace x Tom Ryder fic (with Colt and Grace as twins) set after Grace gets fired and so he has no job and visits Colt on set and Tom immediately gets obsessed with this scientist who got fired for calling his boss a waste of carbon.

a lovely anon requested a starstruck fic from me (which i’ve been working on, it’s just shaping up to be a bit longer than i thought). so i decided to rewatch the fall guy and (finally) finish reading the phm book, so i could take some characterisation notes and ngl, my first point for grace is “lowkey a secret cunt, but in a diva way” lol

i feel like people write grace to be wayyy meeker than he is, which is fine if it’s their preference, but trust, it isn’t how i’m gonna write him

and jacob has experimented with guys before, it’s fine, it’s whatever, but cal is definitely not the type he usually goes for. not only that, but he’s somehow falling for him??? hello??? yeah, jacob is definitely not happy about that lol

and they are both so sure that the next time they see eachother, they’re going to realise that it was just misguided thinking, that nothing’s going on. except when they’re together, they forget to panic about how much they like eachother.

anyway, they both cope by turning to heterosexual love affairs that ultimately don’t work out, cuz duh, they’re the world’s biggest idiots in love

also queer jacob is so dear to me. i think there’s a very strong comphet element to his character. i feel like the first time he tried anything with a guy, it was more so out of curiosity than anything. and then when he liked it, it kinda confused him more than anything. and i feel like he gaslights himself into thinking that he prefers women, because that’s what he’s supposed to do, and sleeping with women is what he’s supposed to want. he can accept being bi, so long as he can fulfill the role he picked for himself, as a ladies man.

it’s so funny to imagine him trying to teach cal to hit on women, and then when cal keeps fumbling it, jacob’s just like “just pretend that im the woman you’re trying to woo.” and well, cal doesn’t have to pretend too much, so the tension is there and everything. and jacob’s just like “…will you excuse me for a sec?” cuz he needs a moment to gather himself, because he liked being on the receiving end of those compliments a little too much lol

jacob in general is a character that(to me) acts confident and like the male power fantasy because of how insecure and repressed he is. In the movie it's shown that he hides his actual self and pretends to be someone more confident and mysterious because he's scared of vulnerability and doesn't believe that his true self would be appealing to women, that's why right before he and hannah were gonna have sex he asked her to do him a favour and ask him something personal, because he was genuinely in love with her and needed to know that she is in love with him and not the mask he puts up

Like jacob is the perfect character for a bisexual headcanon because it fits so well. He's insecure, he's repressed, he constantly hides who is and is afraid of commitment.

Also on a lighter note i love the mental image of hannah realising that the hot guy who hit on her in the bar is apparently in love with her DAD????? Like what do you even do in that situation

i also think that jacob kind of struggles with who he is as a person. he has spent so long focusing on others because he’s afraid that if he tries focusing on himself, he’ll realise that his personality is completely shallow. it isn’t really, but yeah, he has very low self-esteem

and yeah, it’s kind of contradictory, because he is very confident in his looks and his charm and his capability to pick up women. but underneath all that, when it comes to his “real” self, he just doesn’t see anything too impressive. he’s spent so long without anyone to tell him otherwise that it’s like an absolute truth to him, that he as a person isn’t appealing to anyone — only the way he presents himself is.

also when it comes to his fear of commitment, i think he kind of lies to himself about that one as well. he loves to pretend that it’s because he enjoys his freedom and doesn’t want to stop sleeping around. in reality, he’s just afraid of letting someone in to that extent, when there’s no guarantee that said person would even really appreciate him, underneath his carefully crafted mask. that’s why he latches on to the first person who shows interest (hannah)

i also think that this is what could drive a wedge between jacob and cal. because jacob knows that cal likes the bravado and the razzle-dazzle and the expensive suits and drinks. he also knows that cal is trying to win his wife back. so as soon as jacob realises that he’s falling for him, he’s out, because he just won’t risk getting hurt like that.

(cal doesn’t really care about all that fake nonsense as much as jacob thinks he does. it’s why it took cal so long to get good at acting like some sort of casanova, because he cares more about a genuine connection. he also kind of doesn’t really want emily back anymore. he’s still trying, but it lacks real effort, especially after jacob starts ghosting him.)

as for hannah’s situation… it’s totally bizarre lol. that whole family is already messed up, this would just be the cherry on top

Not necessarily a request but I just really just wanted to talk about it somewher causeI recently watched crazy stupid love and Cal and Jacob is so cute together. Oh my god when Jacob honked Cal's nose.. ToT

All I could imagine is them slowly falling in love with each other during their nightouts

but also angst galore over here. like maybe after jacob realises that oops he may have started falling for cal, he aborts mission. metaphorically lets go of his hand and just watches him pick women up from afar. tries moving on with hannah. and cal doesn’t notice that things are amiss, until he finally starts feeling the empty space beside him. he doesn’t understand why it bothers him, until hannah introduces her new boyfriend — and would you look at that, it’s jacob. so not only is his daughter dating someone who he doesn’t approve of, but now he finally understands that all the confusing feelings for the guy stem from wanting to move on from his ex-wife with him. and he could never steal his daughter’s boyfriend, even if he doesn’t want them to date. so, double whammy.

idk how it would work out in the end tbh. maybe hannah and jacob realise that they’re better off as friends, or something? and at robbie’s graduation, when cal is going on about fighting for your soulmate, he keeps looking at jacob. and jacob doesn’t shy away from his gaze either.

idk idk i feel like it would be an extremely slowburn thing with them tbh, but they could be so cute together <3 i’m kind of tempted to write the graduation scene now lol it’s a crime that there are only like 3 fics for them on ao3. or maybe i should do like a oneshot series? idk idk we’ll see
