Star wars is bad but also good but also the worst but also the best piece of media I've ever experienced but also so terrible I never want to look at it again but also terrifyingly fantastic

You can see the pain in his eyes
Not a comprehensive list, but it’s a solid starting point.
this is just
everything
im a firm believer in the idea that anyone should be able to pursue any sort of education that they want with no money or experience required i think any sort of herd-culling techniques to lower the numbers of prospective students is fucked and only serves to a) keep marginalized people out of higher education and b) reduce the population of fully trained professionals in the applicable field which is fucked when you consider how many fields are currently experiencing a shortage or an upcoming shortage of workers with the education and training necessary to practice that job
“oh but we need to cull the people who’re only pursuing this on impulse” ok well if theyre not dedicated to the field then theyll drop out at some point of the learning process when they realize this isnt for them. who cares
“but what if they dont have the prerequisite knowledge??” so teach them
“but we dont have enough teachers to handle such large class sizes” well MAYBE if people could pursue a teaching career without having to jump all the gatekeeping hurdles and survive all the herd-culling measures designed to reduce the number of students learning to be teachers we would have more teachers!
Please, please don’t refer to autism as a mental illness (or any other type of illness for that matter).
Mental illness, while often incurable, are disorders that can be treated with medication and therapies. Autism is a neurodevelopmental disability that cannot be treated, only accommodated for and supported.
I see a lot of well-meaning allistics listing autism as a mental illness and it really worries me. There is nothing “wrong” with an autistic brain - it’s just a brain that is developed in a significantly different way to an allistic one.
As soon as we start allowing this mix-up of language, we also let people try to “cure” us with fake miracle pills, organic toothpaste, and abusive behaviour therapies. Please think about how you word these things.
While we’re on the subject, please don’t support Autism Speaks. They’re an organisation that has demonized autism, and presents it as a disease that they’re trying to “cure”.
Generally, I’m not the person to talk about politics but today something happened in my country. There’re mass protests all over Russia, all because of our president having a fucking palace thanks to stolen money and arresting the person who found it out and shared with people (Aleksey Navalny) who happens to be the leader of opposition and who was almost killed with chemical weapon a few months ago.
The police have arrested more than 1000 people today including a 10 year old child. We have no one to rely on, no one to ask for help. Putin has been on the throne for about 20 years and now he has a possibility to continue ruling Russia due to constitutional amendments that were approved in 2020.
I can do nothing but ask you to spread this information, so that people know we need help. We don’t want the dictator to rule our country anymore, we’re sick and tired.
