megumi thought she had grown accustomed to the unknown after living in what she was convinced was a haunted house for years . she thought she had felt it all : the sudden nosebleeds , the splitting headaches , the tangled nerves . . . but this . . . this feeling was entirely different . something was close , the atmosphere so thick she could hardly breathe . before she could leave the room , the doorknob began to violently twist and turn . megumi had to force herself to stand , hand hovering over the knob before biting the bullet and swinging it open . instead of seeing something wretched , she let out a sigh of relief at the sight of an oncoming friendly face . " was that you at the door ? you almost took it off its hinge ! " megumi joked , though it was all in an attempt to shake off the burning sensation that numbed the skin on her palm .
