Ha! My super-secret powers are totally working! Nobody even noticed I was gone. Mwah ha ha ha!
I’m sat next to an oversized Gryffindor baby, who’s blubbing over Love Actually. Lord give me strength, it’s only the second of December…
That’s what you get for free-associating with Simbas, Prof Ghostman. They’re like a box of fundraiser chocolates-- you never know what you’re gonna get. Except ten-to-one they’ll be filled with something blech. I mean, seriously, who decided coconut was something people wanted faked and shoved into sweets?
Okay who was it, who put the damn spell on me. I don’t deserve this, karma’s a bitch really people. Now I have to go to the hospital wing for the term of the weekend you fetusus.
Ha! C’mon, Pus, you gotta admit that’s kinda hilarious. What happened? Pustules? Blue-Face? Please tell me you got some footage before they fixed you up.
I think I got another holiday cold, ugh this is just great. I just want to get these holiday things done before father christmas
Poor Ginger Who. Maybe for Christmas, someone will get you a Personal Healer. I wonder if House Elves can pick that sort of stuff up...
St. Mungo’s is great and all, but it’s good to be back.
Dude! You’re alive! I thought for sure The Man got you. There was a rescue plan in the works and everything, but I was having trouble getting ahold of a Liger...
Am I the only one not looking forward to Christmas?
Are you looking forward to Kwanzaa? Hanukkah? Winter Solstice?
Cooking Club || Lattes and Latte Art || Thursday, 6 December
I consider this a very successful first lesson, even without any official members. Some of us even had some artistic talent!
Bonus:
Biscotti!
on a scale of 1-10, how uncomfortable would you be stuck in a submarine sans magic?
I’d be fine. I’d just figure out how to get the submarine back to the surface, no problemo. It can’t possibly be that difficult.
If it ever gets above 20, I demand to be thrown into the ocean with the sharks. I’d rather be eaten than spend a prolonged time in the heat.
Well maybe I can convince them that I would be a good sea lion mother. Chip needs me. I did see it. It was great! You know what? That makes a scary amount of sense. Justice for the bats.
I get that-- you basically have to stay within five feet of central air at all times in some places to not melt.
Couldn’t you just Apparate Chip back here? I mean, like, stake out the rehab center, and when they move to let him go, BAM. Off to merry ol’ England for a life of...well, England. But at least you’ll be together, which is the most important part. I bet they wouldn’t notice. I loved that movie-- Hank was the best. I wanna be an octopus when I grow up. Poor bats-- I can’t believe people let themselves get suckered by a buncha needle noses. I feel so awful. Maybe we could build an owlery, but for bats-- like a battery. A Bat-tlement, if you will.

Figaro was a little kitty cat, a little kitty cat, a little kitty cat…
Oops, sorry– was that the wrong song?
[PM] Miss Pierce, I'd like to congratulate you on your cooking club! Honestly, it feels like a club that's just been missing from this place, you know? I hope you don't mind if Professor St. James and I tag along to the club, at least for the first meeting. We're both secretly cooking nerds and it sounds like fun. I look forward to it! -Professor Clarington
[PM] Secret Cooking Nerds? Big Brother? Color me surprised. That doesn’t sound suspicious at all.
Crazy thing that if The Man has always been into this, why it took a complete slacker to finally get a group of any kind up and running. I’m pretty sure there’s been interest in this thing since I got here. But nope– instead you decided to play with your telescopes and shoot sparks outta your wands.
But it is an open club, assuming you and Ghostman can follow my rules. So I certainly can’t stop you from joining.
[PM] I’m not telling you to not hold your government responsible. I’m telling you that treating two of your professors as secret spies because they’re expressing interest in attending your club is exhausting, ridiculous and frankly a little offensive.
By all means, call out the Ministry. They’re going to immediately write you off due to your use of slang and refusal to speak in a way that’s clear and concise, but I’ve not been impressed with their handling of these attacks nor their conduct in regards to the the student investigations, and I agree that they should be held accountable. I know that my former employment makes it difficult to believe that I’m a human being with my own thoughts and beliefs, but believe it or not, I agree with you.
I agree with that sentiment as well. And no, I meant why didn’t you ask the Hufflepuffs how to get into the kitchens for yourself? No one even tries to keep it quiet anymore that they know how to get into the kitchens, you could’ve saved the trouble of creating a club if all you wanted to do was to get into the kitchens and had a full kitchen to yourself and the elves to do whatever you wanted.
I genuinely don’t care about the acronym of my position, Professor Daddy is being laid to rest now. And that’s fine, I’m more than happy to let you have a place to eat and be yourself. But Gobstones Club didn’t try to assert an immediate authority over me when all I did was express an interest in the club.
[PM] Wow-- that’s pretty impressive, I admit. Simultaneously agreeing with, if not actively encouraging me while dismissing me and any efforts made as incoherent and ineffectual. Unfortunately, as you may have noticed, I’ve been the same person for the last five years, and I don’t intend on changing in my free time just to make you feel better about your Brave New World ideals when you’re visiting. Pro-anti establishment stances are not only not against school rules, but welcome in my Club.
I know how to get into the Kitchens physically– it’s the worst kept secret in this school. I don’t need Puffers to give me a tour. And I don’t want the Elves to do the work– I’m not a freaking Sacred 28 and absolutely useless. I feel like you’re missing the point of this club, Agent McFoodie
Sure, sure. But you can’t kill a thought, and you know it’s there, and that people will be thinking about it whenever they see you and get that little knowing smirk on their face, and I suppose that’s all that matters, amirite? Well, what’s the point of being in charge of a show if you can’t get through the pilot without the executives immediately crowding over your shoulder? Especially when they’re obviously familiar enough with the creator’s eccentricities to be aware of potential pitfalls? It’s like you’re either trying to helm the ship yourself, or you believe I’m Long John Silver-ing it. Really-- can you blame me for being skeptical?
[PM] Tiddany, I've heard you're starting a cooking club -- but really, there's gotta be something behind the curtains, spill
[PM] First off, how dare you insult my brilliant club. I get to cook whatever I want and just hang out in the Kitchens for hours. Every week. With no supervision or risk of getting into trouble.
B) I just got cleared to run a club hanging out in the Kitchens for hours. Every week. With no supervision or risk of getting into trouble, and free access to any ingredients and tools I could think of. If nobody shows up, I can make whatever the hell I want. If people do show up, then I already know that they’re A) cool with me; 2) don’t have sticks up their asses since they’re willing to make things the muggle way; and Lastly, are interested in expanding their pallet, otherwise they’d just have House Elves making it. And if a little something-something just happens to get mixed up in there in the meantime…well, who’s gonna know? There is literally no downside to this plan.
So whaddya think? You in?
[PM] Boozy cupcakes? That sounds promising. You got me at booze.
I don’t really do the cooking thing, but I’ll be there. Have you decided on a menu?
[PM] Right? I mean, the end product won’t get you drunk, but the ingredients’ll provide a good time in and of themselves.
I only get two and a half hours, and since there’s a whole teaching-explaining thing, that’s really like two. And cooking always takes a while, so basically I figure once we get into full swing we’ll get to make one big thing with the oven and one little one without. That’s assuming we’re the ambitious sort showing up. Since no one’s signed up yet, I don’t know what kind of people will show up, so I figure this week’ll just be something simple and quick: latte art and biscuits. That way if the only people there end up being the Pigs looking over my shoulder, then I have something to offer, but not a waste of ingredients and time.
[PM] Miss Pierce, I'd like to congratulate you on your cooking club! Honestly, it feels like a club that's just been missing from this place, you know? [PM] Miss Pierce, I truly don’t know if this is some giant act of yours or if you genuinely believe in the conspiracy that you’re under strict Big Brother watch and just waiting for your life to be taken from you, but this is honestly getting very tired.
Never said that, just that slackers do have the time to make things like this happen. All of these clubs were created because someone took the initiative to create them to foster skills and interests of theirs, something I was assuming you did too. I also never meant to imply that you were looking for accolades, just acknowledging that you were the one who pulled it together. But, if you wanted to get into the kitchens, why didn’t you just ask one of the Hufflepuffs like everyone else?
First off, don’t call me that. Second, there’s none in particular, it’s just a general reminder. And third, I repeat, do not call me that.
[PM] You know, I’m tired too, Boss. It’s hard work not trusting an organization that’s set their Dogs on my safe space, interrogating minors in an attempt to pressure them to confess to terrorism. To be told by people directly responsible for my education and moral upbringing that asking their government to be held accountable is a ridiculous notion just because there are bad people in the world. I totally agree– it is exhausting.
Everybody’s got time, Boss Hogg. It’s about prioritizing that time to do what matters to you. Anybody that’s got time to devote to attending a club has time to pull one together, amirite? It’s just about what you’re willing to put into it, I guess. You mean, why didn’t I ask the Hufflepuffs to go to the kitchens and whip up a specific recipe of chocolate pumpkin muffin pops, while simultaneously saving me some of the ingredients while they go? As an Undercover Cooking Cop, you should know that the best part about food is sampling the progress.
Hey, you’re the one that chose a position called Dada– I’m just taking it to it’s natural evolutionary link. I see– good to know that Gobstones Club got the same reminder. I mean, it’s not like we’re planning to recreate the Iditarod using House Elves or something. We just want a place to be ourselves. And eat.
[PM] Miss Pierce, I'd like to congratulate you on your cooking club! Honestly, it feels like a club that's just been missing from this place, you know? [PM] It’s almost like your Professors are human and have actual interests.
The thing is, most of the time slackers are the ones that have the time to get things like this up and running. But good on you, yes, you were the first one to actively get something pulled together.
Assuming your rules abide by school rules, that won’t be a problem. It’s your club, we’re just there to participate.
[PM] Just professors-- right. Not like Feds that are putting their thumbs in everything to quash any freedom of expression, or collections of creative minds, threatening to snap wands and such.
Really? So Gobstones Club, Duelling Club, Wizard Chess, Frog Choir-- all those clubs were created by the apathetic types? I guess that makes sense, since I’m in almost all of them, but you might wanna explain that to some of the others. Or are you suggesting that it’s just the clubs with an interest in muggle activities that are fueled by slackerism? You make it sound like I’m looking for accolades-- I just wanna be able to get into the Kitchens. Unlike The Man, my whereabouts have to be accounted for almost always, so I can’t just pick a random coupla free hours to leave the Tower and make chicken wings.
And which rules do you think I’d be attempting to impose that would skirt around what’s required of me, Professor Daddy?
Text || Roxanne/Dittany
Roxanne: Didn't some leaves just blow into some emperor's boiling water?
Roxanne: That's fair. Do you feel like the ministry oversteps?
Roxanne: I'll give you a full rundown. And if anything happens you'll be the first to know. Probably we're all just going to get matching sweaters from gran and then break off into groups. Trying to get anything done with all of us together is a bit mad.
Dittany: Sure? Just because I'm a Claw doesn't mean I know everything. Not that I don't believe you. I do know velcro was an accident though :)
Dittany: I feel like the government is filled with old people that get complacent with their power, so when things threaten that-- good, bad, or indifferent-- they make a big noise against it. Hence why their first move when this shit first started going down was to hit the school hard. Nothing more dangerous to old wizards than young ones.
Dittany: You never know. My family gatherings are always kinda crazy-- I'm gonna be sad to miss it this year. So I will be living vicariously thru the Weaselpotts. I woulda figured your Clan all banded together to discuss their scheme for World Domination during the Holidays. Least conspicuous time of year, amirite?
You think i can catch up? It seems like it’s just so much, Pierce. I’m a bit overwhelmed if i’m honest. But you gave me a great idea for something, thanks for that. We should watch something together some time though.
I think every little bit helps. A journey of a thousand miles and all that, amirite? Yea! I love great ideas-- you let me know when yours is ready for the Big Reveal, alright? Yeah, fo sho! After the Village People movie, we’ll find you something equally fun and awesome. Maybe a Disney binge-- what are your thoughts on cartoon musicals?
Oh, that’s right. I had forgotten about the mermaids. I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen one. Oh, yes, it’s a broad category so there are plenty of other stories like that. Rudyard Kipling, T.S. Eliot, Dr. Seuss and Shel Silverstein are some authors that have all written literary nonsense stories or poetry. I can imagine bedsheets are very tempting for them.
I can definitely see them plotting these things out. I would hope so, we do all have to live together.
Well, unlike the squid, they don’t really make much in the way of appearances. I don’t even know why I know they’re there-- I might have made it up, let’s be real. Wait, I thought Rudyard Kipling was like a fable kinda thing? Like Aesop, only, y’know, India-based. And Suess writes for little kids-- shouldn’t all of their books be considered nonsense? This is straight-up crazy town. Here, yeah-- there must be something in the thread count or something, because we don’t really have this problem at home. Maybe there’s just more to mess around with out on the Pier than in a big haunted Castle?
That’s what I love about my kids. You never see cats or owls like that. They’re too dignified or something. But not rats-- they’re always up for games. Exactly-- they’re very smart like that: they know not to cause more trouble than they should.
on a scale of 1-10, how uncomfortable would you be stuck in a submarine sans magic?
I’d be fine. I’d just figure out how to get the submarine back to the surface, no problemo. It can’t possibly be that difficult.
That’s reassuring. Yeah, I suppose magic mitigates most of the risks. But still, the constant hot weather might kill me if I’m being honest.
I’m going to find Chip and bring him home then. Are there sea lion rescues in California? Ugh, they’re the worst. I trust bats because they eat them and save the rest of us from even more of them.
I guess it depends what you consider hot. I mean, SF is pretty much 15-20 with sun and a breeze year round, y’know? It’s when you leave the Bay that suddenly you start dying of 37 degree heat. So, y’know-- just never leave.
Aw, that sounds awesome. I totally support you and Chip’s happiness. There are, actually, but I don’t think they usually adopt them out afterwards. You ever seen Finding Dory? I think those dudes would probably be a good example of rescued critters. Hm, I never thought about that-- maybe there should be more bats everywhere. I wonder if mosquitoes started the conspiracy theory that bats carry rabies...
