ravenmaraudersâ:
Jamesâs brow furrowed for just a moment when he saw Lily take Remusâs hand to stand up; Godric, he hoped whatever was happening there didnât result in Remus getting hurt, but he was too excited about the car â and the adventure it was going to lead them to â to linger on that too long. Though he supposed he should have counted on Evans not to be nearly as excited as she should have been given heâd just shown up with a means of transportation for the lot of them that wasnât bikes. Rather than wait for her to explain precisely how heâd managed to offend her in saying the simple fact it had not been hard to get ahold of the car or figure out how to drive it â because it hadnât! â he instead moved to where Sirius and Remus were now looking into the hood of the car, hovering anxiously over Remusâs shoulder and grinning when his mate more or less said the car would run with a lot of work. Just like him, but James kept the thought to himself.Â
Instead he frowned at Evansâs remark. âI have not!â He answered, offended. âIt might stop on us, but itâs not going to explode.â James paused, glancing at Remus who had now closed the hood and was wiping dust from his hands. ââŠRight, Mooney.â
âRight,â the other confirmed. âBut Iâd say itâs definitely going to stop on us, thereâs no might about it. We should stop at the shop and pick up some tools to keep in the trunk.â James beamed, clapping his mate on the back. âGood man, Remus, always thinking of solutions!â Heâd known the car couldnât pose any problem Remus wouldnât have a solution to.Â
As for Sirius, though, James fixed him with a sharp glance. James knew that glint in the otherâs eyes, and there was no way he was letting the other behind the wheel of his car. That apparently should not be called a she or named Sharon? James looked at Evans, curious. âWhatâs wrong with a car being a girl?â Instantly he regretted asking, and so he quickly added, âAnd Iâll have you know itâs not called Sharon. Itâs the Pig,â he told Evans and Remus proudly. âPig of a car is what the salesman called it.â
It was less than reassuring the way James had to get confirmation from Remus about the state of his potential death trap. At least Remus knew what he was talking about and she was reassured. On the subject of it not exploding that was. She still wasnât sure that this wasnât going to be how she died, that lime green polo the last thing she saw. Sheâd throttle James in the afterlife if it was, thatâs all she had to say about that. âWell thatâs a relief.â It didnât look like James was too thrilled about Siriusâ interest in the car. So maybe death by Camero wouldnât happen. Though Siriusâ interest in the car seemed to wane some at hearing it was going to stop. There was still that glint in his eye giving away that it hadnât waned completely.Â
Lily was all prepared to launch into a feminist manifesto when James asked her what was wrong with cars being girls. He didnât give her a chance to say any of it. Instead she snorted when she heard why James called the car pig. While she might be wrong she didnât think the salesman had meant that as a compliment. Lily didnât say that. It was enough that he hadnât named it some girly name and would, hopefully, not go on about it like it was his girlfriend. âSuits it,â she told him cheekily. As much as she hated to admit it, a car, even this car, was a nice thing to have. Walking to the woods and back again had been hot. Lily didnât like sweating away in general, but especially not when there was a cute boy next to her. Of course, looking at it, she might end up sweating away beside a cute boy in a bright orange pig of a car.Â
âAre we done yapping? Letâs grab those tools, this one too I guess,â he added with a head jerk in Lilyâs direction getting an eye roll in return from the red head. âAnd get going. See what this beaut can do,â Sirius said looking between James and Remus.
