where: the potter's who: @heartofgoldandfire
Marlene had reached the point where even her own flat felt too quiet. Every day was the same: patrols, complaints, people looking at her as though she'd personally written the blasted curfew into law. She was tired of arguing with strangers and even more tired of pretending she could leave it all at the Ministry doors, plus she hadn't seen Lily properly since the Burke Gala and she'd decided enough was enough.
By the time evening settled over the city, the witch was standing outside the Potters' front door with an overnight bag hanging from one shoulder. Curfew meant her friend couldn't exactly pop over for a few hours, so the blonde had solved the problem the only sensible way she knew. "I'm stealing you for the night," she announced as soon as Lily answered, lifting the bag in explanation. "James can survive one evening with the boys instead. I need my best friend, a bottle of that muggle wine of yours, and at least six hours where nobody mentions the Ministry unless it's to make fun of it." She let a beat pass before a hopeful smile tugged at her lips and she pressed her hands together as if praying, a dramatical plea. "Please tell me you're free."
