look at this amazing ally who got a trans flag to hang over her door because shes such a good ally to trans people no other reason
it kills me everytime there’s trans!Gwen discourse and everyone brings up the color theory usage and the story allegories and the symbolism which are absolutely valid arguements
but can we also talk about the
very big very clear trans flag in her room
I think that’ll save us some time idk
it fries me so bad like yes i see it and i agree and youre right and you should say it but also. the elephant in the room. or the trans flag in the room
Rewatching The Ruler and it's so annoying how tonally dissonant it is. When it's focused on Nathaniel, it's quiet and melancholy, usually with moody background music or none at all, and the emotions he feels throughout the episode are palpable. The implication of what would happen if his parents found out about him weighs over every interaction and his indecision and fear makes the melancholy tone so much more effective....
And then there's a. Stupid gross out humor b plot. In the episode about homophobia and abuse. And it's so intrusive that it undercuts moments like Nathaniel rushing to destroy the proofs, or Marc crying in the greenhouse about not being able to help Nathaniel (not to mention Marinette's seeming inability to comprehend that parents can be unreasonable and abusers.), and the ending feels very forced. I mean, Nathaniel's mom implied she was going to take him out of school, isolate him from his friends, and forcibly convert him, as well as going through his room and destroying his property (as well as the implications of her hitting him with a RULER).
If you can't show Nathaniel leaving his home because this is a kids show, then don't show kids a child in an incredibly dangerous environment getting outed to their whole school and that solving all their problems.
11.08.25 AU: Nathaniel envies the bold rooster's fame
Sorry for the possibly clumsy translation.
