SOOOO this has layers. context. @uhohbestie are writing one of the best things i've ever read, There are Monsters Nearby , and @syneester made fanart for it. contains spoilers. and in the new TAMN community server we talked a little bit about an AU of the fic and.. this is the result. this piece obviously parallels syn's fanart which is so so so incredible. everything they make is so GORGEOUS and inspiring.. i love it so much. super skilled artist

and the fic, i have no words left, but it has been buzzing in my brain constantly since i first picked it up months ago. massive recommend. lock and key are artists of the literary field

okay so i randomly heard this song ONCE on tiktok and went "oh my god this is just like chapter 32 of there are monsters nearby..." and then i opened clip studio paint and got possessed

I love love love those edits that people do with books where they put the same word but from different pages im so happy i got to do it and add art on top of it hihih

Anyways so this made me search for every instance of "love you" in the fanfiction so did you know out of 290 167 words, 64 of those are "love" and "you" next to each other?

Another fun fact is the first instance of "love you" is Scar hoping to get a "love you" message from Grian (: And the last one (right now) is Grian thinking, but not saying, he loves Scar (: (: (:

More fun facts! They say "love you" to each other casually twice throughout the fanfic! In the sense that it's not said when one of them is dying or when they're sleeping with each other lol One time when Scar is comforting Grian and one time when Grian is fishing :3

Im starting to see how completely ridiculous it is to make him a hot elf prince wizard with a cat but then I remembered that he is Grian's oc in this and i think that is hilarious so now its justified + he also got a tragic backstory now thanks to the Watchers

Also thinking abt stuff for this au is surprisingly very hard cuz i CANNOT for the life of me even THINK of anything remotely close to angst... me and Grian is the same in the way that we are both physically incapable of hurting fictional characters if not for the sake of it being funny. I'm afraid im not making the og story that the Watcher's wrote angsty enough AUGH.... ao3 writers make this look so easy.... how do you lot do it....
