Filled out an affidavit ballot today at my tax-payer funded polling station. . • . Today is Election Day for who represents Rochester, New York in the House of Representatives: : : "Monroe County Elections Commissioner Tom Ferrarese says officials are predicting voter turnout on Tuesday of about 12 to 18 percent..." • • NY runs Closed Primaries. No early voting. Has the strictest deadline for changing party affiliation, restricts parolees, no automatic registration, varying polling hours, and is not progressive in many other ways. . . NY ranks 41st in voter turnout. Why is that? ? ? "...out of about 450,000 voters in Monroe County, about 179,000 or so are eligible to vote in Tuesday's primary." ! ! of those 179, 000 registered Democrats, around 26,000 are expected to vote today? That's 17% of all registered voters. - - If you count the eligible voting population ( un-registered and disenfranchised ) that means less than 10% of our electorate is pushing forward our next Congressional representative. $ $ Today's election is tax-payer funded, yet excludes so many from participating. Why is that? : : If party's want to run a Closed Primary process, they should do so on their own money.
