âYou could say the old Andrew is back.â He muttered to no one in particular. âWhich means⊠drinks are on me, yeah?â After Catherineâs wedding, heâd taken some time to himself. Heâd been a wreck, and was still a wreck to tell the truth. But here he was, determined to move on and become who he felt he was meant to be.Â
@hshqstartersâ
remei turned to look at the prince and her brows rose high on her forehead. â do we... do we know each other ? i donât... âÂ
chanyovngâ:
He flashed the woman a smile, feeling â and looking, no doubtâ awkward as he let a stranger check his teeth. After a while, Chanyoung cleared his throat and said, âThank you for indulging my silly request. I just wanted to be sure. I would have checked my phone, but itâs dead, unfortunately.â Just a couple of nights in and he was already warranting silly looks from old women, and asking strangers to check his teeth. âIâm Chanyoung, by the way.âÂ
â itâs not silly, donât worry. itâs why girls keep a compact mirror with them, â she told him with a light and breezy laugh â anything to relieve them of the awkwardness that had surrounded them. â a dead cellphone at a party ? you donât like these things very much, do you ? â there was only one way to empty a battery. â remei herrera, nice to meet you. â
âExcuse me,â he said, momentarily focusing his attention from the dancing couples to lower his head slightly to speak in a volume that only the person that was of closest proximity could hear. âHave I got something on my face? Or my teeth? I think that woman over thereââ he gestured vaguely ââjust looked at me funny, but I canât be too sure.â He was suddenly feeling a little self-conscious about the piece of hors d'oeuvres heâd just eaten.Â
@hshqstartersâ
remei turned to look at the stranger, blinking slightly. the question, or rather its straightforwardness and the shameless manner he delivered it, threw her off. â oh, uhm... â she squinted. â can you smile for me ? i didnât see anything but i didnât really... well, i donât stare at peopleâs teeth, iâ â she brushed a lock of her hair behind her ear. â so yes, could you smile ? âÂ
Sophie had assumed not everything would go smoothly for her at the reception, but she hadnât expected to be caught in the crosshairs of her mother, the Archbishop, and multiple ex-girlfriends all at once. She dashed out of the ballroom and just around a corner, stopping to remove her heels but freezing when she realized there was someone else at the foot of the stairs. âAh, hello, I was justâŠ.escaping.â For fuckâs sake, Sophie. âEr, taking a break, I mean.â
@hshqstartersâ
the footsteps echoed in the hall and as they reached remei, she looked up. she would have stood up from her spot on the fourth stair but the princess already had a direct line of vision to her... it would have been moot. an amused smile spread onto her face and she shook her head. â escaping sounds like a good idea, honestly. â the ballroom had already drained remei of her energy. â itâs pretty quiet here if you want to rest your feet for a second. the marbleâs quite cold so it soothes your feet if you were stupid like me and wore heels. â

onasnchzâ:
âYes, I guess thatâs true. They couldnât be normal if they tried.â Ona had grown up with some luxury, but nothing compared to what the royals were used to. She could get by with very little. Looking at her friend, she shrugged her shoulders. âIt is what it is for now, hopefully things get better soon. Someone needs to teach the French a lesson.â It needed to be sooner rather than later. âCoffee sounds great. So, what have you been up to since we last saw each other?â
â i donât really pity them but... well, i think itâs a bit terrible. theyâve never experience a normal simple life. i donât know how they survive under the magnifying glass. it would drive me insane. â she shuddered at the thought. â things are changing ! i think this german intervention will be good. iâm sure andorra will be able to negotiate a good deal when a peace pact is being put together. â if france was humiliated, theyâd have no other chance but to agree to every term. â iâve been just working. i had this project i needed to wrap up. the hands on part of it is done so the past few weeks iâve been just sitting at home, idle. iâm not much of a help when it comes to the bureaucratic stuff that goes into these projects. if everything goes well, the clinical tests start by next year. â
onasnchzâ:
âIsnât it? I feel really out of place, but at least youâre here. We can have each other to lean on,â Ona said, a smile on her facial features. There seemed to only be a handful of people who didnât have royal titles. âIâll try not to, but I canât make any promises. With the situation going on in my home country, everything feels personal.âÂ
â humbling but youâll feel a bit superior to them as well... â there was no kind way to say what she was thinking so remei faltered momentarily. â because they are incredibly entitled at the end of the day. itâs terrible how removed from reality these people can get. â and that was coming from remei, a person who had lived her whole life in opulence. â iâm... iâm sorry things havenât gotten much better. â and how she had failed to cut all of her french friends out of her life. guilt made her stomach twist. â letâs get you a coffee ! âÂ
âI still donât know how I feel about being here yet. Everyone else is literally royalty, and then thereâs us,â Ona said to Remei with a quiet laugh. âWhat do you think of this place? Be honest with me, because Iâd love to hear your thoughts.âÂ
@rcmcihâ
â then thereâs us, â remei echoed, a small smile coming to play on her lips. â itâs not as terrible as it could be. it just... itâs humbling. â remei felt even more tight-lipped around royals than around normal people. they were a group of people who would make you feel inferior just for saying something unarguably normal. â just donât try to take the things they say personally. itâs easy to feel angry or frustrated. â
mimivonâ:
âUgh, itâs been such a long morning that if I might actually accept it. âThey gave my suite away,â she omitted to mention that it was because sheâd been gone for six months, âso Iâve been waiting here for a new one for ages, and I havenât even been offered a coffee.â She also omitted to mention that was because they were all busy readying the new suite to her exacting standards. âShall we grab another in the restaurant? They wonât be ready to check you in for a while anyway, theyâre re-carpeting the corridor outside my new rooms.â
âAh, I actually did know youâd be returning,â Mimi admitted, âI snuck a look at the guest book when the receptionistâs back was turned. âI saw that Macklemore is arriving this afternoon.â And Chico. But Mimi didnât say that. It would be - as her new therapist(s) put it - âunkindâ She just looped an arm through Remeiâs and led her toward the hotel restaurant âAnd apparently Kid Rock is up on the seventh floor, if we get bored.â
â i already have a room. i called ahead. itâs smaller than yoursâ â she didnât need to see mimiâs room to know that. mimiâs room would be bigger. â âso they probably took twenty minutes to clean it. â if it had even needed cleaning, that was. â but iâll have coffee, gladly. i need to be able to stay up until seven pm or iâll never fix my inner clock. â re-carpeting. remei wished it was a joke but she had a small inclining that it wasnât. she didnât dare to ask for a confirmation.
â so while we were separated, you became 007, hmm ? â remei asked with a laugh. â thatâs an invasion of privacy but iâll look the other way this time. â her arm looped naturally with mimiâs. itâs as if nothing has changed the past two years. â too bad eminem is not with them. i wouldnât have minded a signature. celebrities lose some of their shine when youâre constantly surrounded by the people who grace the covers of magazines. â she looked pointedly at mimi. â which is the latest magazine you were on the cover of ? tabloids donât count. âÂ
â I DIDNâT THINK YOUâD COME. â his proposition had been more of a plead than anything else â that unlikely remei saying yes had seemed to him. then again, remei ever speaking to him again had seemed unlikely just two months ago. â itâs good to see you. â [ @rcmcihâ ]
remei didnât reply immediately. it would have been a lie to say she had thought the same, after all she had taken the first opportunity to see him. alive. â you too. â he looked skinnier. he looked like he hadnât seen the sun in days. he was missing a quality that made him, well, him. maybe this was the difference between prince françois and chico. the difference in ebullience. â i- â where to begin ? â iâm sorry about the things i said. â
She arrived unannounced, a hurricane in high heels carrying a whole village of secretaries and stylists and matching luggage sets in her cyclone. She blew in through a door opened by a valet and tore through the hotel, leaving chaos in her wake. âYapping dogs, angry bodyguards, gawping guests, bus boys crushed under the weight of her bagsâŠWhile she was gone the hotel rented out her rooms - Mimi darkens, clouds over, at that - but they promise an even better view and to waive the pet fee (several thousand, in a hotel this fancy and with so many lapdogs!) and she brightens. While the harried hoteliers hurry to ready her rooms and her stressed staff are swept up in preparing them, Mimi settles in a plush ladies chair by reception and pulls out a glossy magazine. âThe eye of the storm around her.Â
She glances up from an article on the benefits of ingesting diamonds, and calls out to someone, pulling them into her. âI expect my welcome party is starting soon?â @hshqstartersâ
remei blinks at the familiar head of gold spun hair. â mimi. â she splutters the name before she is able to catch herself. stating the obvious never looks flattering. â do you have one for me too ? â remei asks, smiling softly, as if the question is innocent and genuine. â iâll give you the last drops of my latte as a welcome gift but iâll warn you, itâs traveled all the way from the airport. â she hasnât spotted a bin yet, itâs the only reason for the paper cup is still in her hand. â i didnât know youâd be returning. long time no see. â

Stella sighed, pulling her hair back into a ponytail. âYes, this is bad and it will make the French less willing to work with us. But you donât have to associate with the Resistance. We can release a statement. Saying you donât condone violence on either side.â She was careful to just apply it to Remei. Stella was already too deep.Â
â well, to be fair, they were never going to work with us. â either the andorrans worked for them or against them. remei shook her head. â no, if you deny my involvement, it will definitely put a target on my back. they are already keeping an eye on me, especially because i went back to barcelona for a while. â she wasnât sure when she had gotten tangled up in the situation but it had happened. doing nothing would have felt wrong. â the less i show up on their radar, the more i can do. â
hey iâm gonna drop remeiâs event threads so lmk if you want a new thread with her !! or if you wanna plot !!
