she jingled the galleons in her coin pouch and took a sip of her blood-flavored lolly.  it’s a shame that candy makers didn’t make more blood-flavored sweets.  then again,  the treatment of vampires and  ‘  half-breeds  ’  are  ABYSMAL.   “  makes sense.  it’s no use craving a sweet treat if there’s no sweets to munch on.  i’m just glad that we’re in close proximity to honeydukes.  can you imagine if hogsmeade  didn’t  have a candy shop  ?  what would merlin think  ?  ”  she took another lick from her lolly.  “  oh,  yes.  butterbeer sounds amazing.  speaking of which,  did you fancy grabbing a cup from the three broomsticks  ?  ”

“right? i always try to be stocked up! especially with seventh year. oh merlin me too.. i couldn’t imagine not being close to honeydukes. or there not even being one. that would be awful, even if my mum sends me sweets but i don’t know when my next care package will be.. so i figured better stock up! merlin would be so disappointed and outraged. i know i would be if i was merlin.” briar-rose laughs in between munching on her sweet treat. “doesn’t it? i could definitely treat myself to one. i’d be delighted to grab a butterbeer from the three broomsticks.”

           the two girls probably looked silly; giggling about bent axes and the absurdity of the statement.  thanks to the chill in the air,  phoenix was starting to sober up.  instead of seeing triple, she was simply seeing double.  still dizzying, but not quite as awful as before.  she was still miles away from being able to apparate back to the empty alleyway behind their dormitory.  she could imagine it now;  stumbling past the front door, tripping up the first few stairs before drunkenly trying to levitate herself up the rest.  she’d fail, of course.  probably snap her wand in the process when she trod on it.  merlin knows what would happen if a muggle spotted her.  the ministry would probably have her wand for something that stupid.  she knew she needed to be careful;  she was a werewolf.  the ministry didn’t need much of an excuse at all to strip her of her magical abilities.  that was a sobering thought.  she straightened up.  “ i think maybe a walk would help. “  she declared.  she stood up slowly, unsteady on her feet.  “ to clear my head.  would the both of you like to join me ?  “  she was teasing her.  of course there was just the one of her.

briar-rose never seen a harm in giggling and having fun, it was a part of life after all! and so much better than frowning. even if it was about bent axes and how weird of a statement it was. but she appreciated it nonetheless, as one could tell by the bright expression on her features. “it couldn’t hurt.” the brunette agrees with a nod of her head, as she moves from her seat and onto her feet. “oh, we’d both be delighted to.” laughter falls from her lips as there’s a smile across her features, opting to loop her arm through phoenix’s. “a walk sounds good. it’s a bit stuffy in here anyways and crowded. so yes please.”

delaney blinked when she looked up from her little, silly purchase— a magical object that was not needed ! but still dropped galleons, sickles and knuts on the counter as if her life depended on it, a maroon colored bag long forgotten as hazel hues trained on briar-rose’s face. the pony tailed witch grinned immediately. “ briar-rose, hey ! ” the former ravenclaw beams, her next stop to honeydukes coming into a stop for a moment. “ maybe. i am in the mood for some sugar quills and knowing me, i will leave with the entire store. ” delaney giggled, feet clad with strappy heels walking her closer to her former housemate. “ wanna see what i just got ? ” the witch was beaming as she motioned to the bag she was holding, not even bothering to wait for the other’s response as she pulled out an indigo, velvet like pointed hat out of the bag, grinning as a child in a christmas’ morning. “ isn’t she pretty ? i fell in love the moment i saw her. it even has a little bow here. ” delaney giggled as she rotated the hat and pointed to the silver bow. “ i am thinking of changing the color of it, though. maybe a bronze. muy a la ravenclaw. ” she pulled her wand out from her bag and pointed it to the bow. apparently, she was too impatient to wait until she was home. “ colovaria. ” she mused, watching how the silver changed into the perfect shade of bronze. “ ah, perfect. she’s prettier now. tell me, how do i look ? ” in a swift, the witch pulled it over her head and grinned, starting to model the hat and the pristine short dress she was wearing under an indigo cloak she bought at madam malkin’s weeks ago. a very witchy delaney lovelace was feeling herself ! 「 💘  delaney has used beautifying potion boost. 」  「 ✨  delaney has bought a pointed hat. 」 「 ✨  delaney has cast a spell. 」 colovaria, 「 ✨  delaney has mentioned a canon magical object. x13 」  「 ✨  delaney commented on something found from the kiosk. 」 

there’s a wave of one of her hands at delaney, always pleased to see another ravenclaw-- and there’s a laugh, briar-rose was the same way when it came to sweets. everything always sounded so good, and truthfully? if she had it her way she’d grab some of everything. at that rate she truly would be stocked up until her next package! but alas, it wasn’t like that. so she had settled for her favorites. “i can’t say i blame you at all, i know if i could i’d totally do the same thing. especially because there’s just so much.”

“i mean sure! why not.” even if delaney hadn’t waited, it wouldn’t have been like her to say no-- especially if someone had offered, not the kind to ask but she had been curious. even if curiosity supposedly wasn’t a good thing. “it’s super cute!” she answers as her dark colored hues glance at the bow, which in her opinion made the hat and looked adorable. one could even take the bow off, and during other occasions put it back on. “the bow is probably the best part.” it was one of those in awe looks as the color changed into a shade of bronze, and it seemed like the outfit and hat were perfect for delaney. “beautiful! that definitely did the trick. you look super beautiful. love the indigo too.”

her eyes looked up at the other student blankly, earthy hues veiled by a sheen of cold disinterest. the two witches sat opposite each other at the table, which was crowded with piles of books, stacks of parchment, loose quills and scribbled notes. usually ollie preferred doing her studying on her own, but the weeks leading up to winter break had been when most professors decided it was ideal timing to bury their students in homework, a pattern which, apparently, they applied to pupils of all ages and years. the hogwarts library, as well as the slytherin common room, had been crowded all week, which made ollie resort sometimes to catching up on her studying in the middle of the night and taking energy-boosting potions to attend classes the next day. there was, however, a limit to how long a seventeen-year-old witch could survive without sleep. therefore, she finally settled on sharing a table with a ) another seventh-year, because she couldn’t stand pesky children and b ) a ravenclaw, the second best house in her opinion. ″ i just asked if you’re done with One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi. ″ ollie pointed the feathered end of her quill to the book sitting on a pile next to briar-rose.

“oh, sorry.” there’s a scratch of briar-rose’s head, as she shakes the noises that were clogging her brain-- off, if that was even possible but she had to try. considering it was distracting her from studying and well.. everything else. it takes a moment as an apologetic smile spreads across her features, grabbing the book and opting to hand it to ollie. as far as she could remember she was mostly done with it. if not, well she’d worry about that later. “mostly, but you probably need it more than me so it’s alright.” she scribbles a few things down onto the parchment in front of her to remember later, and thankfully she had taken notes from the book so she was probably good. “it’s just so busy in here.. i picked the wrong time apparently to study.”

the need for blood-flavored lollies was at an all time high for the ravenclaw.  of course,  she could live without them,  but it didn’t necessarily mean that she wanted to.  there was a difference.  after all,  being half-vampire did have some effects on her diet.  she was able to eat the food any witch or wizard would normally eat.  pumpkin pasties.  chips.  you name it.  however,  none of them satisfied her craving for the particular sweet.  hence why she was in hogsmeade in the first place.

placing the correct number of galleons on the counter,  irene filed the rest of the galleons,  sickles,  and  knuts into her coin bag.  satisfied with her purchase,  she walked away and opened one of the lollies.  oh how  GOOD  it tasted.  she stopped short in sight of briar-rose and gave her a toothy grin.  her fangs peeked out.  “  hey  !  it’s nothing,  just got some blood-flavored lollies.  merlin knows how long i’ve been waiting to get my hands on them again.  what about you  ?  what brings you here  ?  ”

it wasn’t out of the ordinary, although briar-rose liked sweets dare one say loved, but she was particular.. in the sense she didn’t like too sweet. other times she did. there were several wizarding candies; that fit the galleon. often times she missed muggle candy, and couldn’t wait for her mum owling some of the muggle sweets to her at hogwarts. but she wasn’t sure when that next owl would be. so, she needed candy in the meantime! she considered herself lucky in the sense of being a half-blood; that she also got a lot of her favorite muggle related sweets when she wasn’t at home. the ravenclaw pops a few of her sweets into her mouth as she nods her head. “sounds good to me!  i’m glad you were able to get your blood-flavored lollies in that case. i needed some sweets.” it made studying easier, and hippogriffs it was her last year! she could use the sweets now more than ever. she also thought of stopping at the three broomsticks. in the need of a pumpkin pasty, and possibly a butterbeer. “that’s about it really. and also a butterbeer sounded really good.”

“yeah, that’ll be it. thank you.” briar-rose pays at honeydukes for the candy, with the correct amount of galleons and sickles, and knuts-- you could never go wrong with candy! and she was in need of restocking; hence the visit. oh, how she loved hogsmeade! is her thought, taking the change and tucking it into her robes pocket. candy still in hand, because she planned on stopping and eating a handful-- or two, it was hard not to want to do that. as she exists the shop, there’s a familiar face she spots nearby. that of a small smile spreads across her features. “hello, there. funny seeing you here!” the brunette ravenclaw jokes. “did you need some things as well?”

“do you maybe mind repeating that?” on busier days, briar-rose being able to remember things by ear-- could be frustrating. her mind too busy remembering sounds, and conversations; that it made it more difficult to focus than it normally would. especially if somewhere was busy. the ravenclaw toys around with her self-shuffling playing cards. “it’s okay if not.” it’d be hard to explain-- why she hadn’t been able to CATCH what had been being said to her. merlin knew not everyone understood how that echoic memory. and blimey she didn’t blame them for it, it was complicated! there’s an apologetic look with a smile to match. “i wasn’t really paying attention.” it wasn’t a complete lie but it also wasn’t the whole truth, either, and she wasn’t the kind of person to just not pay attention. “just you know.. it’s a busy day.”

       “ definitely an accident. “  she murmured, voice catching with a laugh as a thought came to her.  “ d’you reckon they’re called accidents because – accident.  axe, dent.  a dent, made by an axe, would surely be a bad thing. “  she was giggling now, hand coming up to cover her mouth as she backed away from the table. her opponent in the contest seemed triumphant, high fiving their mates as she ventured away.  “ maybe not.  s’just a thought i had just now.  what do you think ?  do you think that’s where it came from ?  “

briar-rose while she thought that could have been possible, it brought her mind to the idea of-- how could someone do that? she reckoned not everyone would be so understanding of someone spiking their drink. firewhiskey or any other alcohol was strong in her opinion-- and it didn’t really taste that good. at phoenix’s words a genuine laugh fell from her lips, not to be rude or because she found the idea stupid-- but because she thought that was really funny, especially if that had been where it came from. “i like that.” the brunette voices when her laughter comes to a stop, a few mere seconds later. “i mean it’s very possible, that’d be a very funny explanation. so i like it too.” who was she to rain on someone’s parade? she wasn’t like that, but she was pretty sure the word accident came from old french to latin. but that was her inner ravenclaw talking about how much she loved finding out where words originated from.

          was it chilly ?  phoenix wanted to say no,  but the goose pimples on her arms made her think otherwise.  “ i’m starting to think … maybe this WASN’T just butterbeer. “  the witch gave the now empty shot glass a sniff,  furrowing her brow.  everything seemed normal,  but the way her eyes struggled to focus and the slight slur to her speech made her think otherwise.  “ oh no. “

briar-rose’s nose scrunches up, and is met with a similar confused look to match. “it’s very possible.” although, that’d be extremely unfortunate if phoenix hadn’t wanted that-- not that the brunette would blame anyone, considering she herself didn’t drink alcohol. nor really like the taste of it. “i’m sorry, i’m guessing that wasn’t planned..? is it possible that this was an accident?” an apologetic smile matches her words, even if it wasn’t really her fault; didn’t mean she still didn’t feel bad. because she did.

delaney gives the brunette’s arm a light pat. “ is there any prize you would like to have your hands on, b ? ” she asks, pulling the younger witch to a stall that, hopefully, contained many treats for their tooth ! delaney had to stop herself from drooling as she swiftly picked up a a truffle with the shape of a witch’s hat. she giggles at it and takes a bite. “ i won a plush toy of a ghost with a vampire’s cape and i love it, but i had to shrink it ‘cause… i can’t walk around holding the plush toy and this basket, right ? ” she points to said basket. “ plus, dimple seems to like it a lot more than i do. ”

briar-rose has an excited look on her features, as she thinks over the prizes she had seen. one in her mind standing out in particular. “i seen this super cute pumpkin plush earlier, it’s ridiculously cute and it looks so soft.” not that she wouldn’t appreciate any of the prizes-- especially when she hadn’t won a prize, so she needless to say definitely would! “i seen that one, it’s quite cute. they have so many amazing prizes. i honestly think i’d be happy with any of them.. since i haven’t won anything yet. true! and your costume is amazing. it wouldn’t really go with it.” the brunette compliments, as she reaches for one of the many sweet treats, taking a bite. “i consider that even more of a win.”

               these were valid questions.  they were questions she’d asked herself on more than one occasion. was this really something ?  merlin knew she’d been wrong before.  she couldn’t imagine anything more embarrassing than falling for him, only to find out that he wasn’t interested in anything more than friendship.  even if that was all it ended up being,  pippa knew that she’d still want to keep him in her life.  he was funny.  his jokes weren’t always funny, most often times they weren’t, but his letters always had her smiling and cracking a laugh or two as she read through them.  they brightened her week, sometimes.  unfortunately for briar-rose, that information was only one-sided – she only knew how she felt. clarence bagnold was a mystery to her.  if only she was a skilled leglimens,  who could invade the minds of others from great distances.  she sighed.  if only.   “ well, i don’t know.  i could like him.  let’s leave it at that. “  her cheeks flushed pink,  a hue she’d attribute to the whipping winds if her friend questioned it.  “ oh hush, you.  says the most amazing person i know. “  she nudged her friend playfully, giggling.  “ enough about my love life – or lack there of.  what about you ?  any suitors ?  “  she was genuinely curious,  hoping for stories of kisses stolen in summer showers, or days spent at the beach with someone who made her best friend smile.  briar-rose was, after all, one of the best.  pippa wanted to see her happy as well.  relationships might not have been a necessity for happiness,  but they certainly helped matters ! 

“okay, if you say so.” briar-rose has a wide smile written across her features, not about to push pippa further and she believed that if there was anymore details-- she’d hear about them, and she looked forward to that. “uh-huh. me? the most amazing person? well, i don’t know about that.” it was true, but of course she appreciated her best friend thinking so. “please! you know i would hope, that i don’t mind listening at all. it’s perfectly alright. and for me? i don’t think there’s any suitors.” there’s tapping of her fingers against her knee as she thinks, just one of those thinking methods-- though it was always debatable whether or not that it actually worked. but for her it did or she thought it helped rather. “i don’t think there’s anything that interesting in that department for me, it’s been pretty uneventful. but the single life isn’t too bad either, gives me time to focus on school. and homework. but i reckon if it came down to it i wouldn’t be against changing that.” the brunette admits, but it wasn’t a main focus. “so i’d say it’s pretty boring! about the only thing exciting and or interesting rather, i’m working towards not being so deathly afraid of those death traps.” in reference to brooms, and how petrified of them she was. admittedly; she thought it would be nice to not be so scared of them, and not want to run the other way. “it’s not super exciting i know, but it would be nice not to fear them so much. and maybe an occasional broom ride, here and there if i wanted to. though who is to say i will want to.”

briar-rose with how her memory worked by ear, and how it remembered things she heard-- so one could imagine when things were really busy and or crowded; how things probably FELT twice as loud for her. in situations like this so to speak, it was also working overtime. “is it just me, or is it really loud?”  the brunette inquired, it were possible that it wasn’t loud-- that it may have just seemed loud for her because of that. “i reckon it could just be because of how crowded it is. it makes it seem like that.”
