the streets are still not lined in gold, and rooney is still a deadbeat. a drifter, a lost boy. he's got seven pence to his name and he's still mopping up other people's vomit in the back of a noisy bar.
he still counts time in relation to when he was kicked out.
(seven months and four days, and counting.)
he kicks a pebble absent-mindedly along the street, feels ten-years-old again, feels just as small and lost in the miasma of this big world. tonight, he's crashing on some co-worker's couch; tomorrow is uncertain.
but one day at a time, rooney, one day at a time.
something in a shop window catches his eye, and he stops, holds his breath and shoves his hands into his pockets. it's a baby grand piano, sitting regally on display, gleaming dark obsidian, and he thinks, holy shit, what wouldn't i give for that sucker. not that he's any maestro -- his fingers are much too clumsy on the ivory keys -- but he misses the feel, the gratification he gets from making music from his own hands. of walker sternly instructing his fingers to go where and where and of amos sitting on the bench next to him, just as clueless, if not more. the days when things were simpler and his brothers had not yet hardened into statuettes.
he murmurs, because he thinks no one is listening, "isn't she a beaut?"

walker, 25, mathias bergh. okay i have to admit i named him walter at first?? so if i ever say "walt diggory" you know what i mean omg. in any case no one wants to play walker because he's boring but he'll feel sad and left out if i don't include him so. walt is the super successful one of the family!! i mean, they were already pretty rich already bc old money and all that, but walt has a GR8 ministry position and always has been pretty dedicated and intense so has kind of set the bar for all the other siblings in the family oops. rooney's kind of intimidated by him because they don't actually know each other very well, and i've described him as "felix but way more intense." former slyth or claw idec. basically feel free to do you pleaseeee.
amos, 21, sebastian brice. yeah i made amos a year older than i originally intended shhh. former puff like rooney!!! wah okay so i don't want to make this too long JUST READ ROONEY'S PLOTTER IF YOU WANT MORE INFO. but basically amos is a stickler for the rules probably a prefect while he was at hogwarts PFFFT but i think his character is a lot more interesting than walker's??? like there's definitely potential for ~real dimension, esp. bc of his struggle between like, duty and being a brother, i guess. idk if you're confused, talk to me, but otherwise feel free to do w/e, i haven't really set his siblings' characters in stone.
stella, 16, camille rowe. awkward that camille has a bunch of nude pics um BUT IF YOU JUST IGNORE THOSE it should be fine. basically stella is the light of rooney's life blah blah blah and honestly if you haven't read my fanatic posts about her i'm not going to retype it out for you. i mean basically in my head she's good-natured, but is a little mischievous and a bit of firecracker. just let me lahv her kay.

okay tbh this is a refresher for me too bc lol w o r s t memory and i forgot a lot of things about him like that he existed for example

wah okay i totally thought amos was 20 which actually might work better than 21 but whatever i highly doubt anyone would take him ANYWAY. amos and rooney were pretty close when they were young, i imagine, but amos is a stickler for the rules and rooney was such a troublemaker lolol. so pretty much during school rooney would get a number of howlers or whatnot for poor grades and repeated detentions and obviously amos didn't like seeing his brother getting in trouble, so he tried to set rooney on the straight path by trying to tutor him and encourage bad behavior. this came off as a betrayal to rooney though, who saw it as another attempt at parenting him and OH NO YOU'VE BECOME ONE OF THEM because as you can tell, rooney doesn't really like being told what to do and is pretty much allergic to authority. so he kind of became r00d to amos, which made everything bleh, and it's kind of like lorcan and lys except rooney definitely still outwardly cares for his brother and it definitely shows that he loves him.
also i should mention now that rooney couldn't hurt anyone if he tried, he's such a wuss
also he is a tr00 hufflepuff with a heart of gold awww. he's not like a super-fixer-upper like gid is, but he'll still like. be sweet and try to calm upset people and be there for them. i think he just like, understands people, or at least emotions, or something
anyhoo i imagine that after the disownment amos was Not Happy with his parents' decision, but since he's a goody-two-shoes, he doesn't say anything about it. he does feel really bad about it though and reaches out to rooney whenever he can, so their relationship is mending and stuff. still some sore spots here and there but.
ah also forgot to mention -- so the disownment happened a bit after rooney graduated from school, when he was almost eighteen, so it's been a little more than a year since he's been ~drifting from place to place. i have an idea that he tried to go somewhere like rome or something but since he couldn't speak italian it didn't work out so lol he had to come back. probably hitchhiked his way to and fro oops.
AHHH STELLA, THE LIGHT OF HIS LIFE. she's 16 rn, either gryffindor or ravenclaw idc, but she's very very very bright and she and rooney are thick as thieves. PARTNERS IN CRIME. abbott and costello. they have a bunch of inside jokes no one else gets and she's very sensible and the one person that rooney loves above everyone else in the world. if you hurt her rooney will actually HULK OUT AND KILL YOU. i'm srs here. wah so many rooney and stella feels, okay, they are actually the best. it was kind of sad bc she was in school when he got kicked out of the house SO THEY DIDN'T EVEN GET TO SAY GOODBYE SOB but it's all good now because after he came back from italy or some shit, they started meeting up in hogsmeade to catch up and it was gr8. plus he probably sent her letters all the time in between s o. i think stella, out of everyone, is the angriest out of everyone, angrier than rooney even (who isn't even that bovvered anymore), at her parents for kicking him out, but rooney just kind of smiled and said, i need you to forgive them, because your heart is beautiful, and hate would ruin it (rooney and stella also kind of speak in metaphors like this like some artsy french film all the time but it's okay because they understand each other.), and she kind of forgave them for him. ugh stella is just. perfect okay. she's smart and headstrong and would be the lead in an action movie because she's so badass SORRY FOR MY FEELS.

so he's not like. super gregarious. he's friendly, but he doesn't actively reach out to people, and generally i think he only has a few close friends, but they were never really part of a group together, just friends here and there. casual acquaintances with the stoners because all he did during hogwarts was smoke pot i am srs. he doesn't like loud parties either he's too ~chill~ for that omg u r a lame hipster or something. anyway, just coasted through school on drugs.
he also sucks at magic oops because he slept during class and like never studied. SOME PEOPLE JUST AREN'T BUILT FOR SCHOOL, OKAY. which is why he pretty much does everything the muggle way. do u even know how to apparate.
he has a...very sarcastic and sometimes offensive sense of humor, especially about himself, and he's not shy about cussing, which people don't expect out of him, because he's usually so quiet and sweet.
while he's no virgin, he's not a manwhore, kay. it's really hard to explain but he's a lot like river phoenix's character from my own private idaho when it comes to sex. the physical act doesn't mean a lot to him. he's very sensitive and ~emotions-based~ and touchy-feely so he's only really let a few boys snog him and touch him in a really romantic way, i guess. idk it's HARD TO EXPLAIN.
speaking of my own private idaho i imagine he had this unrequited crush on a fellow stoner all through school but he is actually the cowardliest of all lions so he kind of just went "op" and admired from afar. and cried himself to sleep when the guy went and got himself a girlfriend.

he chewed the end of his pencil before scribbling, rooney e. diggory is a goddamn bastard. no, not really. i think that’s what some people might say, especially if they hate me, but here i am to clear up some misconceptions. rooney is a lover, not a fighter. he’s afraid of scrapes and bruises, which is funny because he can’t seem to get enough of them these days. rooney is honestly kind of shy, and sort of quiet. he likes thinking and contemplating things, which results in him being alone a lot. rooney’s said mean things, especially to his brother amos, but he’s always regretted them. he’s not mean. he’s just a little fresh-mouthed, especially if you grew up with him since the diaper days. he likes boys. he’s always liked them. he thinks it’s silly to judge people based on their sexuality. he has wild, untameable hair. the girls love it, apparently. he has dreams, but they’re not very ambitious. he just wants peace, and to maybe work at an ice cream shop one day.
