There are about 448 million users who are using social media in India. People are most prone to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and WhatsApp in India. The future of these social networks is in danger in India. As per the new IT rules, social media are given three months to comply with the rules. To protect all the users in India, the government has released these new rules to social media to be responsible, risk-free, and accountable.
What are the terms and conditions?
The time given to social media to comply with the rules has come to an end. It has come to the notice that these regulations made by the government are not yet accepted by the social networks, due to which we are expecting the BAN of social media in the near future.
Let's know the regulations put up by the government for the benefit of the people in India.
1) Social media organizations need to appoint a chief compliance officer who would hold the responsibility for the compliance issues within the firm.
2) These social media sites should remove the content that includes revenge porn or other awful activities posted on their respective social media platforms.
3) The organizations should respond to all the issues addressed by users within a short period with a proper solution.
4) They also should let the government control the flow of posts which contain content that carries unlawful information.
What's Next?
If the terms and conditions are agreed by the organizations there might be a slight effect on the
'RIGHT TO EXPRESSION'
and
'RIGHT TO SPEECH'
fundamental rights. This is very important to look into, according to my opinion. If terms and conditions issued by the IT are not agreed then social media sites could be banned in a short while. As the time given to them has been declining, social media( Facebook, Instagram, WatsApp, and Twitter ) could suffer a ban in India.
