Hereās to the Past | Brandon x Reagan
Brandon kept his phone near him after leaving his phone number for Reagan to find. Honestly, he was hopeful for once that she would contact him. Something about the way they talked in the hospital gave him that hope. He had changed into some comfy sweats to lounge around his apartment in. Some time passed and right before he cracked open a beer and decided to call it a night, his phone dinged with a notification. He left the beer and texted Reagan before the two decided to meet at Maggieās. Brandon changed from the comfy sweats into jeans, a simple red t-shirt, and some Vans. Honestly, the man was all about simplicity and comfort in his life. Heading to Maggieās diner on foot from his apartment at Oaks downtown, Brandon felt like he was in another world. Or maybe just back in high school again, going on a date with his old flame.
Walking into Maggieās, he offered those around him a small smile. Brandon knew most everybody in Fallbrook being a native and a police officer in the small town.Ā āI need a table for 2.ā Brandon voiced to the host with a bigger smile coming on his face at the words. He followed to the table and took a seat, not bothering to even look at the menu yet. He texted Reagan that he was waiting for her and tried not to keep his gaze on the door of the restaurant. Brandon hated that Reagan had this power over him, that always kept him wondering if she would just decide to push him away at any time. Regardless of that, he still loved the woman. That first kind of love that never seemed to fade typeā¦
Walking into the diner was simultaneously one of the most terrifying and exciting things Reagan had done in her life. As a general rule of thumb, the brunette wasnāt one to believe in fate. Hell, there wasnāt a lot she had faith in to be honest either. The surgeon had never really believed in an all-knowing god or divinity of any kind. After all, the idea that someone or something could intentionally allow all the suffering and tumult sheād seen in her life to persist and persist and simply look on, without intervention. Well, it just seemed kind of evil and uncaring. And there was enough of that in the world. Reagan didnāt want to believe it was allowed to stay that way when some being had the ability to stop it. So instead, she believed in chaos, in randomness. Things happened and there wasnāt always a reason for it. People died. People felt pain. People faced darkness. No rhyme or reason to it.
But, what had happened the other day had her questioning that, even if in the smallest of ways. Having Brandon come back into her life when theyād both been trying to never see each other again and to have him want to see her, perhaps that could be considered miraculous. Taking one last deep breath, she stepped inside, bell on the door ringing to announce her presence. She saw him instantaneously. As if some sort of magnet automatically drew her hazel gaze to him. Carefully, the brunette made her way across the diner to the booth he was sitting in and slipped in on the oppositte side.Ā āHey, thanks for coming.ā She murmured, a small smile showing on her face
