just seeing Peridot this fascinated made the Rose let out a fit of giggles, it reminded a lot of herself when she first step foot on the plant. the pinkette did find this amusing more than a threat.

this was very much like her gems she knew, the given information made her crack a smile to hear Peridot’s calculations about the others almost as if she actually cared about them. comrades and friends. this gem sure has consumed a lot of information about them and especially about the human activity as well.

❝my, my this is a handful…❞ she nervously chuckled

Peridot would nod "I'm still learning... But they are helping me understand... Pearl is trying to teach me to summon a weapon... But it doesn't make any sense to me... Everything here is backward... But... Its... Cool... That's what Steven would use to describe how I feel about Earth."

"I have been dwelling in the barn... Though when I first arrived I comendeered the bathroom..."

I see… If I ever do indulge in sleep perhaps it would be wise to cover my gem with something. The inner depths of my mind are not something I think are ones that are particularly suitable for public viewing.

Amethyst has a serviceable garment in one of her piles. would you like directions?

I only learned you were stuck with Lapis after I  called Yellow Diamond… She didnt care about us. Only the cluster. 

If either of us want to survive we have to destroy it.

H-Hello. Why… are you unfused?

simply put, Steven asked.

then, we realized we haven’t been unfused in a very long time, and there were things that we could not do as a Fusion.

so here we are, doing those things.

they are not of massive importance, or significance to anyone but us and maybe Steven because he gets this funny look in his eyes when he sees us so it probably has occurred to him.

these things we do are many, but they include sleeping next to each other, holding hands, and things that surprise the other.

i’m quite bad at being surprising, but i try my best.

thus far I have surprised Ruby twice. the first time came as a surprise to me as well, but when opportunity knocks it is best to grab it firmly. Ruby and Steven call he incident “the tale of Pizzadog”.

Ruby has yet to find out that the second thing was actually me.

Thats interesting. I thought surprising you would be hard considering your future vision.

Its… strange not talking to you as garnet… Well i suppose I’m not really talking to you exactly… Fusion still confuses me… But you already knew that…

Wait… You sleep? I didnt think you would be the type of gem to indulge in sleeping… Would you reccomend trying it?

Surprising me is a special talent of Ruby’s, lets put it that way.

we are masters of sleep, when we choose to, both as Garnet and as Ruby and Sapphire.

I could spin you many a metaphor on Fusion, but the problem is that they are Earth metaphors made for Steven. we’ve spent…i think it was at least five Earth rotations figuring them out.

maybe six.

I see… I should learn earth terms… 

Steven told me that pearl projects… “Dreams” while she sleeps… I wonder if I would have the same sort of result considering we are similar in that we have gems in the same place, both are intilectual gems, and both are able to create holograms…

i like to think that the answer is position, solely.

Amethyst’s is covered by something, her shirt generally, and we sleep with our palms covered.

when Steven was very tiny, he would only have a waste catching garment Greg called a diaper attached to his bottom, thus leaving his gem as exposed as yours.

his tiny projections weren’t very interesting in complexity, but they were very endearing to us.

Pearl was represented by her nose, Amethyst by her hair and mouth, and us by our visor. 

it was remarkable to discover that he identified us by such mutable features, rather than our gems. that was the first assurance he gave us that he would be like his mother in disposition.

ok. the gems I was gemsitting are both ridiculous. You called our diamond a clod and the Lazuli has me down here.

I mean good job having the minerals to do that. Did Yellow Diamond seem concerned, did you tell her I’m somewhere in the ocean?

trusting Peridot was rather strange but she knew what was going on in this world more than she has, it was worth a shot. the pinkette removed her hands from her gem and held them together for reassurance.

“I don’t really know how Steven works... but he has a big Pink lion and sings a lot. Not as much as Pearl though... But she sings while crying sometimes. Shes very interesting... Strong and intelligent.” she thought aloud 

“Amethyst emerged about 500 years too late and is much smaller than she should be but that doesn’t stop her from doing anything a normal Amethyst can... Her room is a mess and she calls me a ‘Nerd’ but wont explain what it is... Garnet is like Percy and Pierre from Camp pining hearts... We tried to fuse once but I got nervous and we stopped before it happened...” what was she to say? She was still learning.

“U-Uhm... Nobody on earth is safe right now... Theres a giant gem monster incubating in the earths core... We’re trying to build a drill to destroy it...” she felt bad about the cluster, and it was clear on her face.
