Alejandra nodded, taking slow, controlled breaths. Her folded arms clenched to keep her hands from shaking. She blinked spots from her eyes and her forehead ached like no other. Perhaps it was because she was so frustrated that she slammed their heads together, but she knew this was nothing more than a stress fever. In the middle of summer. Oh god, she was just going to melt into a steaming puddle and die, right here, right now.

She crouched and started to pick up the broken pieces of her pot. She frowned in disappointment. She really had liked that piece. It would take some work trying to recreate it. “Oh well,” she sighed. She set the smaller pieces inside the largest one, having no buckets within arm’s reach to put them in. Only when their hands brushed together had she realized that Matthew was helping her. When had he let himself in? Not that it really mattered, he was allowed to do that. Plus it was a simple latch on the waist-high gate; for him, it barely passed his knees. “You got taller,” Alejandra realized, stopping her work. She looked him over, finally, noticing that he looked … incredibly tired and stressed but also, older? She stared in amazement. It really has been forever since the last time I saw you, she thought.

He smiled at her and a shiver crawled up her body. She bit down the urge to tackle him in the grass and cover his face in kisses. She’d been running dangerously low on her supply of them. Maybe it was better to take some medicine before giving herself an even worse headache. She rubbed her face and scooted the broken pot closer to the side of the house. She would deal with that later. “Let yourself in,” she told him motioning to the back door. “Pardon the mess.” Really, the patio was a mess. Pots strewn haphazardly across the concrete, table covered in tools, empty soda bottles leaving rings in the light layer of dust that coated her work area.

She penned up her goat and chased down her chickens and grabbed the apron she’d tossed in frustration. What a day, she thought, blinking up at the hot sun.

Matthew watched her as she knelt down to pick up the pieces of her broken pot, and felt a small pang of guilt. He knew Ale took a lot of pride in her work, and then decided to let himself in and help clean up the mess. He found himself smiling, slightly, then he looked up at her, noticed her staring, and continued smiling wider.

He laughed quietly at her observation. Had he really? Gotten taller? He didn't even notice. He felt older, yes, probably long beyond his years, but taller? Not quite.

She told him to go inside and he felt a small surge of both triumph and happiness. He nodded his head, and then turned to head towards the house, but not before calling out, "It's a shame about your pot, I'm sorry for that, by the way." It technically was his fault, he thought, even if indirectly.

Matthew didn't go inside right away, instead simply stood by the door and watched her, feeling still chilly somehow, despite the heat. He didn't quite know how it was possible, to be feeling cold in this weather, but he did anyway, and he squeezed his hands together, apprehension filling him.

He finally tore his gaze from her and blinked up at the hot sun, What a day, he thought. What a day.

“I’m sorry too,” she sniffled, loosening her grip on his hair just enough to ease the pain. “I’m sorry for running out, I’m sorry for being such a damn coward, I’m sorry for everything I ever did that could have ever hurt you, everything I’ve done that hurt Theo, I just…”

She trailed off, hiccupping too much to continue on. Her knees felt weak with relief. She’d managed to at least tell him that much. Even if things weren’t really 100% her fault, it sure felt that way. It usually was. And she’d been able to own up to being a coward, and to being selfish because of it. But there were still a number of things she wasn’t quite ready to commit to yet. Like being completely honest with her heart, and being so wrapped up in him again so suddenly. It hurt to even be this close to him, but she wasn’t going to pull away. His arms wrapped around her back and her shoulders; she released his hair completely and hugged his neck, burying her tearstained face somewhere between the two of them. Well, maybe being wrapped up this way wasn’t so bad. But God have mercy, it was so damn hot out here—

In spite of all the pain she was feeling, she laughed. At first it was just her shoulders that shook, but then a little giggle chattered from her throat. Soon she would be making such a noise that Matthew wouldn’t be able to tell if she really was laughing, or if she was sobbing. In truth, she was doing both, her heart unable to keep to one emotion for too long. She pulled back and smothered herself in her hands to try and regain control of her quivering body.

“Dammit, Matty,” she sniffed, wiping her eyes with a tearful smile, “I wish I could hate you. It would make things so much easier.”

"It's okay," he said, because it was. It truly was okay because he didn't care, all he cared about was that she was in his arms and she didn't hate him, or didn't hate him enough to push him away. He let out shaky breaths and said, "It's okay, it's okay, none of it matters, none of it matters now. It's all okay, I promise, I promise."

The promise wasn't empty, it really did feel okay now. He couldn't quite explain it, couldn't quite put his finger on exactly why it felt okay. Even if it wasn't, he believed it, even for just that second, he believed it and to him, that was promise enough. He tightened his grip on her, feeling as she shifted her arms and wrapped them around his neck, and he couldn't help but think that was how it was meant to be. He felt silly for thinking so, felt utterly, completely mad, but it felt right. It was the first thing that had felt right in months.

When he heard her laughing, he laughed too, so relieved to hear it that he could barely think beyond it. He could hear nothing but the sound of her laughs and sobs mixed together with his own. They stayed like that for a moment, content with himself for just a second before she pulled away, and he let go with great reluctance.

"I wish you could too," he said, still laughing somehow. "But the world's not black and white, is it?" he said with good humor, wiping at his eyes and blinking back more tears.

CRIES KH3 aHH MY LITTLE 9-YEAR-OLD SELF IS SCREAMING (I started the game series when I was nine) It really is a great game though like and it looks amazing and I’m just so happy I thought they weren’t ever going to make a sequel to the second game but I’m rly upset because it’s for PS4 and of course I only have a PS2 ugh

i haven’t played the newer versions or ever played it on creative (i’m old school pfft) but it’s really fun, even if a bit odd at first

oH MY GOD SHERLOCK NONONONONONO we are not talking about that I cried watching that. Yes definitely check it out it is great omfg but fair warning a lot of the legends are tampered with (aka, Merlin is young, Arthur is not yet king, Guinevere is a servant (in the beginning), etc, etc, etc, but still, everything falls together at the end so yes check it out)

Because we always need a great way to kill 5 hours right it’s like one minute it’s 3 o’ clock and the next thing you know it’s midnight and you’ve wasted your entire day
