â đ..đđđđâŠ?â Uncle lingers on her tongue. A fond phrase from halcyon days in the sunlight of Ylisstol. Instead she is not that girl anymore, and she doesnât belong, she anticipated this, yet the man she loved like family had embraced her. Itâs almost instinctual at this point to slightly flinch at close contact, and it isnât lost on either of them despite the unsung apology at the reflex.
She is used to injury and death, not warmth and embraces of ages past, it feels, and for a moment she is no Princess nor King, but an aching, bleeding woman fit to burst from the agony of living, of being here, of carrying on a Kingdom so long as the survivors lived, the burden of a world on her shouldersâŠ.and its future all the same.Â
She limply raises her arms hesitantly, feeling the pricking of tears. I want to laugh with you in Ylisstol again. I want to show you how adept Iâve become at maps, at strategy, I want to hide in your strange coat and show you my training with FatherâŠwith Mother!!Â
âŠ.. But I canât. This world and your peace is our singular duty..and salvation.
His eyes clear and unclouded with spite; there is no red tint, the sting of his blows even with her formidable prowess in battle searing and burning both limbs with the very tomes that so many times had protected her as a child. The sting of his blade clashingâŠthe final outcome where holy blade met flesh. A memory she will never forget for the rest of a life destroyed, and built anew.Â
She is not the regal King that would be sung of within the worlds, one day. Nor its brave Princess, she is not the impassioned leader, the wise ruler, the overprotective daughter to her parents, the over-serious woman who had awful fashion sense, broke training dummies and couldnât take a joke. She is no legend in the making, no hero, no savior to a clueless mass among saviors that would set things right for all her human, human doubts and insecuritiesâŠher blatant shortcomings.
She is in this moment only a girl, a human, though more King than girl, she thinks shakily, as Lucina literally and emotionally lays down her weary arms, tired of holding up two worlds.
Iâm tired, Robin, pleaseâŠdonât change. Stay like this, donât change. Iâll save you tooâŠso..
â I didnât want to make bonds again. â Voice hollow; even as a tear stains his coat. â It would be easierâŠif I didnât see him as my Father, nor you as one akin to oneâŠmuch less family. But my heart wavered, and I became for a moment, that girl I used to be. So thisâŠis more than I could have ever hoped for. Seeing you all âŠ.well, youâŠyou donât understand what it means to me. To us, who lost you all so youngâŠ.too young. If I hadâŠno, itâs nothing.
For you to even think I matter, knowing that baby girl waits for kinder adventures more innocent than mine to embark upon with you when this is all overâŠâ A choked voice, a pained voice. â And still look at me as âLucinaâ. IâŠ.I wanted so much for you to!â She doesnât want to let go, and with voice cracking..
â RobinâŠwhat youâve said is more than enough. It will last me all my days. Can I ask you one selfishness?âÂ
To grow up and travel backwards from a bleak future that wrought nightmares and terrors. Robin may never understand just what kind of turmoil that Lucina had faced... he could barely comprehend what had happened on their own plane of existence- but he knew that what was happening now was more important than anything.
He could never tell what she was thinking, but from the sudden actions of her arms. The weight of which had lowered when he felt the subtle shake of her shoulders he would recognize as crying. He didn't need to see it to know, and yet he still held onto her. Eyes closed, arms gingerly keeping her with him as long as she is still able to be here with him.
It must be heavy... to know that Robin would keep her close. Despite everything. Despite how the end would alter the future, and what that would mean for THIS Lucina when that happens.Â
She may cease to exist... but she is still HIS small one. Not his child, but all the more precious. Trusting her, even when she would seemingly be convinced to draw his blade up towards him- he would trust her wholeheartedly.Â
Hands pressed upon the back of her shoulders, the tacticianâs head turned slightly. Carefully keeping Lucina there, but desiring to see the small one that she is to him. To see the young girl that bled through those tears she had dropped onto the fabric of his cloak.Â
âLucina... of course I would still look at you as you. I wouldnât treat you any less than that.â As skillful she is as a swordsman, she is still that little one that would want to hide behind his leg. Grown, but still young Lucina.Â
âYou may ask of me anything you would like, Lucina. I take no ill will nor burden from getting to know you and who you are- you in fact have made me proud, and Chrom as well. If my presence can give you closure, then I am more than happy to be here with you.âÂ
