“Living a lie… it festers inside you, like poison. You have to fight for what’s in your heart.”
❘❙❚ INQUISITOR `
╳ ⁞⎜ It took Zach a moment to realize that Dorian was being an asshole, but eventually it kicked him in the head, and it couldn’t stop the snark of his own from flying free.
❝ Don’t you know it’s not funny to joke about blood magic, Sparkler. You wouldn’t be here if you didn’t hate everything that either of those stood for, stop being a butt, just repeat that last bit please. I know the rest. ❜
░▒ SELECTIVE HEARING how unsurprising! the inquisitor was a strange being to say the least, but endlessly intriguing; dorian wondered many a thing, but questions would come later. ❝ you heard that, of course -- and don’t call me that, we don’t need another varric around. as for the repeating, perhaps next time you’ll listen, inquisitor. ❞
❝ This was just a routine game test… something went better than expected… but now everything is out of hand. ❜

❘❙❚ INQUISITOR `
ᵈᵒʳᶤᵃᶰ
╳ ⁞⎜ They were all so scared of him, but all Zach could do was stare at the mage, who was even more handsome in person. Taller than he imagined too.
❝ Ah, what? Sorry I wasn’t listening. ❜
░▒ TWENTY MINUTES he’d been going on about the imperium -- twenty bloody minutes that the boy had not been listening too. this was their savior? a daft boy from -- where? ❝ i was just saying how i’ve always been interested in blood magic, and how it may feel to wield as great a power as corypheus has. the venatori may just have something after all! ❞
❘❙❚ WARDEN `
“Haven’t they, though?” A light shrug from the warden. “ I guess I can’t exactly advocate for peace, but… In a way, the mages were being far too… policed, I suppose is the term.” Of course, she didn’t have too much she could say.
░▒ CLEARLY UNAMUSED by the comment, dorian wrinkled his nose, humming. his gaze cast from the fire to the woman ❝ fighting for peace, and fighting to fight are entirely different things. this was -- i won’t pretend to know what this was, other than wrong. regardless, we’re clearly not going to get what we came for. unless you’d like to run into that building. ❞
❘❙❚ @wxrricr `
░▒ GRUNTING, dorian cast a glare to his companions -- it was frigid out here, his arms were shaking, hands rubbing at them furiously, and yet the wind got to his bones. ❝ we’re going to the mountains where it’s as cold as humanly possible -- best bring dorian! ❞ he mocked.
❘❙❚ @venviru `
░▒ SKIN LIKE ROOTS were tangled about the creature’s body -- clearly, a bit too close to dorian, as he had time to inspect such things. the clawed hand swiped, catching only his coat. ❝ well don’t just STAND there, help me kill the bloody thing.❞
sleeplessly embracing yawn yearns into me plenty more tears in the sea
❘❙❚ LITTLE HAWKE `
Hues stay trained on the fallen soldiers face, jaw tight while Dorian searches the mans person. Death finds everyone eventually, but Carver can not help but shoulder the guilt for each man and woman lost to the cause he leads.
Knees pop while he drops into a crouch near the fallen man, and Carver speaks as if to reassure him:
“We’ll be back for you.” he rises, gaze flickering toward the mage. “Did you find anything?”
░▒ NO LETTER, NO MEMENTO, NOTHING dorian clenched his teeth, brow furrowing in clear disappointment. he stands, not as tall as before. fingers slide along the length of his staff, giving it a twirl over his shoulder and resting it into place on his back. WE’LL BE BACK FOR YOU; dorian could only sigh in response -- there’d be no body to come back to, not here. the wolves or the bears would claim it by days end. ❝ nothing. traveled light. but we’ll report to his family when we return -- we’ve no time to stay, there should be a venatori camp around here somewhere... ❞
❘❙❚ @conductorofstorms`
The water always seemed to make the mage calm and philosophical, easily drifting into deep thought. His comment suited her well.
“ If there is anything I have learned in my time roaming this world, is that nature has a balance no man can truly interrupt. ”
She hoped. There was no promise that things could not be damaged beyond repair.
░▒ AND TO THINK; soon, it could all be devoured, slung into the belly of the beast. it could be rotting and fading away. the thought made him ill, knowing this was all a possible reality. corypheus wanted to rule, and by all means, destroy the world. her words fell flat; they should have inspired, and to some they would. dorian knew better, ❝ corypheus is no man. were this some simple war, i’d be considerably less concerned. this is a twisted being, infested with red lyrium, hate, and holding a dragon at his whim. i shudder to think what will come if we should fail. ❞
❘❙❚ @ximisaari `
now, he feels terrible. he didn’t come here to make dorian doubt his place in the inquisition, and however much he wants to claim that the blame lies completely with his peers, that’s not entirely TRUE. subconsciously, he has been judging dorian; growing up as a qunari, even away from the war itself between the qun and the imperium, he heard the horror stories, and they stuck with him. “… i’m sorry, lad,” he says quietly, looking away and scratching his cheek. “wasnae fair o’ me. i know ye’re no’—” he breaks off and shakes his head. “willnae happ’n again. ye’re a better man than i give ye credit for.”
░▒ IT WASN’T UNREASONABLE to be doubtful, or concerned -- but, dorian liked to think that maybe ( apparently not ) he’d shown some sort of dedication to the cause, by risking his life on more than one occasion. that he, unlike the venatori, wanted some semblance of peace for the world, and believed that this man before him was the only one capable of it. dorian wasn’t fond of proving himself, but, it seemed he would have to. ❝ appreciated, inquisitor -- but, next time, if there is mistrust, just talk to me. i speak from personal experience, letting things still in your own mind will only have them festering like an open wound. if you don’t trust me, fine, but be honest with me about it. give me a CHANCE to show i am on your side... ❞
