I feel like the Pokemon RPC needs a refresher on how to treat OC’s. If you play an OC or you have a friend who is dear to you who plays an OC, I really encourage you to reblog this, because this is getting a little out of hand compared to other fandoms I have OC’s in, and apparently I’m not alone in this and I think that’s pretty darn sad. So pls read!!
SUGGESTION #1: If an OC follows you, and you’re wondering if you should follow back, please read their rules and their about page FIRST. If you follow us back, we automatically assume you’ve already done that because why else would you follow a character you don’t know? It hurts us when you interact with us and it’s clear you haven’t read our pages. It makes us feel really unimportant or that you’re uninterested. For some it can make them feel really anxious and hesitant to reach out to others.
SUGGESTION #2: CANON DOES NOT MEAN BETTER THAN OC. Do NOT disregard an OC because they are not canon. People put some hard creativity into their muses and honestly it is so incredible that a person can build a character from nothing. It’s congratulatory, it’s amazing. Roleplay is all about creativity, so why would you put an OC second?
SUGGESTION #3: Ask us questions! We made the character, if you’re not sure about something prior to an interaction or if we liked a starter call/sent a meme and it’s not on the page, please ask us! That’s what were here for. We want you to understand our character, too. We want to build relationships and timelines and plot with you. We would not have put all this work into a character if we didn’t.
SUGGESTION #4: I’m in no way shape or form saying, ‘U GOTTA LOVE EVERY OC. U GOTTA RP WITH US. ‘ no, never. roleplay is for fun, and for you to roleplay with who you want. just..if you’re going to follow us back or answer stuff, do what’s suggested above. you don’t have to like every character, but don’t be a douche about it. It’s not okay. ok, that’s all. HAPPY RPING. If you didn’t know something today, you’ve learned something, yay ! These are all SUGGESTIONS, nothing set in stone or forced upon. But if you did read and you do agree, together we can make this community a better place for OC’s or unconventional characters.
SUGGESTION #5 FOR OC’S: If you’re an OC, please put as much info as possible about your character on your pages, and please don’t throw a fit if not everyone wants to roleplay with you. You CAN throw a fit about it if someone is extremely nasty about it, though. But learn to move on and carry on with your fun.
