san acting like woo is his responsibility ~

(note: i had nearly finished a draft ready to be uploaded and it got ✨ deleted ✨ so i rewrote it but i remember making good links in the first draft and i couldn’t remember how i did it so i’m quite disappointed :(( so i’ll be using ‘kinda’ ‘sorta’ and ‘seems’ a lot today also there are probably more instances but i’m just referring to a few here)

San is such a caring person right we know that, we see it in literally any interaction with the other members - he takes care of them so well and just looks at them with so much love in his eyes.

He also takes care of his bestie - extra care, extra extra care. they favor each other it’s so obvious, you can’t convince me otherwise, literally was watching a video the other day, when someone did aegyo and woo was unimpressed asf but right after San finished, he praised him and called him cute??? LOL

this also works the other way: if a member does something and woo is unimpressed, then he’ll sigh but if San does something and he’s unimpressed, he’ll let the whole world know 💀 

so San takes care of everyone but with Woo it’s on a whole other level. He seems to (subconsciously) think of woo as his responsibility. Like the whole world has placed wooyoung in his hands or, he’s being held at gunpoint or something to take care of him. He takes care of woo in the same way ‘the rent is due’ meme is applied hahaha this kinda links to the favoring thing - we and San know all of Ateez are more than capable of handling themselves but San kind of ignores that for Woo lol

San seems to be more bloody nervous than Woo who’s doing the challenge, in his haste, he forgets all the rules even though he had just seen members do it. Insert that ‘now i’m panicking - don’t panic - no i am cuz… i’m gonna lose me job😭’ meme… why? because i feel like maybe this situation made San feel a bit threatened bcs here he couldn’t look out for woo, he couldn’t ‘do his job’.

https://youtu.be/XknURO3AeJU?t=533 this one is kinda subtle, although woo is perfectly capable of getting up on his own San is suddenly there and involved - he favors him and very naturally that’s why they always end up together - hey don’t get pressed tho i know they’re all close but they’re best friends remember? even yugbam favor each other…. the way san drags this kid away / comes and collects him like woo is his responsibility💀 saying okayyy → it reminds me so much actually of a parent, like when they say okay you’re done/that’s enough for you now…. you know?  (they’re laughing so hard in this clip it’s so cute)

and this is also kind of an example of something San does sometimes (more than woo lol) - which is: when san is listening to the rest of the teezers chat away, say if he is passively listening, he will then perk up or be actively involved in the conversation if woo gets involved - i wanna say this includes if he does this just be mean to woo as well lol..  woo on the other hand will blatantly show/fake disinterest.

In Fever Road when they do rock climbing, san is very encouraging and supportive of all of them when they’re climbing but when woo is finished, and only in woo’s case, he goes over and starts on his woo’s harnesses…

it’s so……..possessive, in a way, i’m not even being weird just the way he goes over the minute woo is on the ground and just starts and the way woo doesn’t care one bit…the way he could fully do it himself lol

in this video woo is really wanting this apple 💀 he really wants this apple so you would expect him to extend his hand right but no, san does instead. He reaches for the apple to feed him like it’s his duty to make sure the apple reaches woo like bruh give it a rest and the way he has his hands on the back of woo’s head just like here eat eat - it’s so fucking soft u have to admit

Then the last thing for today is this little video of San doing what i mentioned before. Woo just starts adjusting his shirt but San immediately straightens up once he notices and reaches to fix it himself (even though hwa is already helping woo), have you guys ever watched that barbie show - it’s like ken’s barbie senses that tingle and go off LMAO.

It’s strange…as if he has a right to it or something esp when he kinda overtakes and brushes seonghwa’s hands off - it seems a bit… possessive again. 

and then when seonghwa is looking over woo’s hurt shoulder, san again butts in - nosy little shit honestly🙄 also it’s funny to me how woo goes to hwa but turns around straight to san lol.

according to the myths, the fates pictured inside Decks of Destiny were once magical, corporeal beings. they supposedly ruled a quarter of the world centuries ago until they mysteriously vanished.

Kaz generally was disdainful of his feelings toward Inej because the last time he felt any deep connection to someone, they ended up dying and he was up scarred. Most of the time he masked it as “I have a job to do and romance is distracting” but the raw need he held to keep people away was the ultimate crux. It’s shown in how he treats anyone that would otherwise be considered a friend (he frequently says gangs are family, but never calls any of the Six his friend, considering the nature of literally every situation they’re in for the two books).

But I also love the way Kaz’s love for Inej developed. I’d never thought slow burn was my thing until this. It’s so great because 99.999% of the physicality of romance–what is considered mandatory to have a “good” relationship–is completely removed on both ends, and Kaz has to first work out a) what does and doesn’t work for him, and b) what does and doesn’t work for Inej. Inej’s feelings take priority, and that sense guides every single thing he does in the book wrt their relationship.

He cared about her physical, emotional, and mental well being long before ever actually touching her. There was no real chance of lust developing. He only considered her beautiful in situations where she was in control/comfortable, not when she was specifically dressed up to be attractive. Despite never wanting to admit so, he depended on the surety of her presence and Suli proverbs, even if he didn’t (initially) agree with them. His constant calling himself rotten and evil could be seen as attempts on his part to push her away so that she would avoid getting further dragged into his messes and then damaged the way he was.

Although at times he would have preferred to keep her back and safe, he knew that what she really needed was freedom after everything she had suffered at the hands of Tante Heleen. He would have made an exception to the plan to break into the Ice Court to avoid having Inej wear her silks again. He understood the limitations of his own and her trauma, and they refused to push each other or themselves past a limit they couldn’t handle. Yes, Inej did say things like “tell me”, but it was only verbal and never physical. When she rejected him at the boat, he didn’t fight it; a relationship takes two people and he’d already known that forcing her into something that she could never be truly free to express herself in would be cruel and selfish.

He was looking at trying to change himself before touching her, which meant getting over his phobia. Forcing himself wouldn’t do either of them any good, either–which is why the bathroom scene is so important. Inej has a better handle of her trauma than Kaz does. She leaves plenty of space for him to stop, makes sure he’s aware that he can leave at any time, but Kaz in this scene starts to teach himself about his bounds and limits, learns what he is and isn’t capable of doing for Inej. It works better here because he’s consenting to the physical contact, whereas in every other situation it’s either out of his control or he’s being beat up. He doesn’t get as triggered in this scene, as opposed to the police cab ride, accidental brushes, and every flashback in CC where he was touched and it didn’t end well.

He only wants the best for Inej, even if and including letting her go so that she can pursue the fulfilling life she needs to. That’s love. Kaz wants to call himself selfish, but that is the definition of being selfless.

So I stumbled across a post where someone was complaining that they didn’t like Kaz and Inej’s relationship because “he treats her like a possession”. Ok, but…

“’Kaz said if I proved myself I could join the Dregs when I was ready. And I did. But I didn’t take the tattoo.’ Nina’s brows rose. ‘I didn’t think it was optional.’ ‘Technically it isn’t. I know some people don’t understand, but Kaz told me … he said it was my choice, that he wouldn’t be the one to mark me again.’”
