Entered a trance state whilst listening to Bring Me The Horizon and this happened
More often than not, Light and Gibbous shared meals. The former soldier did his best to make sure she got more of the portion than he did in most circumstances. Luckily, today was not one of them, and the pup was just happy to eat until she was full, then to lick her paws clean.
Light handed her a napkin to dry her damp fingers before returning to finish what he could of his part of the order and take a drink.
"If the game of tag is anything like the one she plays with her friend, Lyra, she'd be fine." It was usually a case of just letting the pup keep up. Their friend's little girl usually slowed down for Gibbous to catch her.
Amusing to watch and let both girls run off their afternoon energy so they'd take a nap afterward.
"You're fine. I've come to learn that most of the individuals we meet are willing to help us out in some way or another." No offense was taken at Murk's offers. Light knew that the other's heart was in the right place for wanting to keep the pup safe and happy.
"I wholeheartedly believe it is because she's cute." A bit of a tease, with the toddler grinning as she finished wiping her paws and reached for her drink with Light's help.
"Even if she wasn't, I'm certain the other children would do their best to accommodate." He didn't think it would be necessary. Perhaps a game or two of Gibbous getting used to the curves and turns of the Sanden playground- and then she'd probably be right after the others without a second thought (or, running away from the would-be tagger).
He was glad to hear the two were receiving aid from others, as well. It meant there were other lands were kind hearts laid, and the two knew they had hands willing to reach out if need be. The falter to his smile faded, nodding softly in reply.
Murk's gaze fell to the pup. He found himself grinning, a soft chortle rumbling in his throat.
"I think you may be on to something there..." His own tone took on a teasing tilt for but a moment. Ghebosu made his way back over, eyes roaming the plates and bowls before he gathered those that seemed to have been finished off. "Thank you."
"It's no problem.- Just be sure to visit again." The old reptile regarded the trio. "Let me know if you need any refills." And with that, he departed- stepping back towards the back's door to work on cleaning the dishes he'd acquired.
"I do have an intent to show Gibbous the playgrounds, but if there is anywhere else in the city you would like to see before this visit is over,...do let me know." May as well warn the duo while it was on his mind, right?
welcome to the crab, shadow.
As much as he wanted to offer the advice to follow most of the mythology when it came to some creatures, not all of it actually worked. A vampire could not only step into a church, but could do so in broad daylight just to piss in the holy water. Although that really depended on the amount of faith of those within the walls, that was a completely different conversation.
So Loki nodded and turned his body slightly to head back the way he came. One hand was raised to signal that they should not loiter where they were. "There are. Not all of them are as nasty as the ones I mentioned, but I'd recommend staying close."
With that, he stepped back out onto the main street and looked towards the sky. Still some sunlight glinting off the large shards of the veil overhead. It was such a stark contrast from the blues, pinks, and oranges of sunset against the deep violet swirls of twinkling stars beyond the shattered plane.
Those moving along the sidewalk kept their heads down, eyes watchful yet trying not to draw any attention. Above them, there was movement on the skyline. Silhouettes of figures watching, waiting for just the right moment...
A scream of terror came from nearby, cackling laughter echoing as a group of Devils began to descend from the sky.
"Fuckin' Vultures..."
There were others...and there was hardly a tell for if the one she was with was one of them or no, either. There were plenty of mythological beings that could appear essentially human, for all intents and purposes. (To a degree, she also fit such a description... A thought immediately set to the fires.)
Her hands shifted to rest in her hoodie's main pocket, offering a mechanical nod.
"Understood." Hopefully, she could keep herself at least moderately safe here...but she'd have to be wary of visiting this universe in the future. Mentally, the marker for it was relabeled. It wouldn't prevent her visit, far from it- but it meant she'd try not to be caught unawares twice. She stepped onto the street behind the other, brown eyes cautious. Everyone was looking down...
The fact most looked moderately human was loosing its effective edge as a balm. This wasn't connected to her universe, not by any string save the one she'd formed tonight- these weren't her people. That, however, did not stop her attention from immediately snapping towards the noise of a scream.
A mother, crying out- her child had wandered from her side, and into the path of the descending flight-capable entities. Tempest's hand found the grip of her blade. Would these things feel the burn of a blade made to withstand her own fires? Possibly, possibly not- but at the very least, she could try the metal against them.
She shot forward. If nothing else, she had no intent to let the child be taken. The winged humanoids descended, their laughter ringing in her ears. Mephiles would certainly be making use of their cackles in her nightmares.
If there was one thing Light was confident about, it was that if Gibbous didn't want to do something, she'd make it known. Right now, the pup just wanted to be as close to the werehog that looked just like her. Her tail wagged as she settled into the large arms and explored with her paws.
And while it seemed the former soldier's attention was on the others, he occasionally kept an eye on what Gibbous was doing. An ever subtle smile slipped onto his muzzle as she took in the surroundings from where she sat before focusing on Bless again.
Light glanced over after her sneeze, letting out a snort as she all but sank herself into the werehog's chest fluff. If he had a guess, it was similar in softness to the Tails they often visit in another world, who let her nap in his namesakes. But she was content, warm, and happy. That was all he could hope for, and turned back to the rest of the group.
After eyeing the scar on Node's hand, he nodded. Scars were something he could understand. Especially when his eye was glaringly obvious to anyone who looked at his face.
"We'll be sure t' pass along the message." Volt smiled. "We need t' drop off our presents for them in the next few days anyway."
"Ya just want t' sneak some o' your Christmas cookies t' Lyra. Don't ya lie." Harmony added with a playful raspberry. It got her father to laugh and shrug. Why bother denying it when it wasn't a lie.
"Very." The answer to Bless came with a gesture to the pup, all but pressed against his fluff. "Luckily, I think she would have a similar outcome with you that she does with Harmony. Too much fur for her to get through to reach skin, but I don't think you will have to worry about that."
"Careful down there!" There wasn't so much as a trace of concern in his voice. He was pretty used to others burying themselves into his chest-fluff, so the sensation didn't bother him at all. The werehog made sure to hold Gibbous so she'd not fall, but aside from that, he was letting her have free roam to explore as she saw fit.
"I would be a touch envious,...if I did not have some cookies of my own for when I get back home." Murk was easing. He found it difficult not to, really. Everyone seemed so calm and at-peace, it was suffusing into the atmosphere. "I hope the little one enjoys her cookies." He could only imagine the kinds of baking the group had gotten up to the last few days- or possibly, would get up to in the coming ones.
Making food, whether for the pleasure of its taste or for others to enjoy...even a year down the line, it still seemed a novel concept to him. He'd tried his hand a time or two, and it had turned out well- but he'd yet to attempt many a recipe. Maybe he'd have to see about one of those 'Christmas' themed ones that Finn the Galago had gifted him.
The werehog shrugged.
"Doesn't matter to me, one way or the other." He grinned down at Gibbous. "Give it your best shot, if you want!" It wasn't like he was tempting fate or anything.
"Give her time."
Ah. That. Hm.
Just got in over my head, Bluebell tried to reassure. Honestly, I'm lucky I came away with as little injuries I did, considering how many jackasses cornered me.
Bluebell did not want to admit he'd lost his temper. That someone had jokingly called his king a fool and spoiled and pointless and, lacking his own barbed tongue to hurl insults with, he responded with his fists instead.
Round one went fine, he sweeped the floor with them. However, fighting like six assholes with a little too much pocket change is tiring, especially if it's followed by another fight.
It was only once Bluebell realized he was in worse shape than he thought, did he think he shouldn't have gotten into that.
Don't really know who they were, Bluebell made a face. I shouldn't have fought them. It was petty.
{You were cornered?} That was markedly worse than him just being in a fight. Tempest's free hand gripped at the sheets, willing the whispers that flickered from her shoulders to ease. She would handle it. It would all be fine. It took a few seconds of silent kneading of the fabric before she was calm enough to regard the hedgehog again, eyes tracing each patched-up injury.
And he'd fought for some 'petty' reason...Tempest took in a breath. She was better than this. Stronger than this,...
{I take it you were the instigator, then? Or did they attempt to attack you first?} That could spell all the difference.

Oh, he knew that noise. Bless' ear twitched, a grin crossing his muzzle. He let himself slip forward, fingers pressing into the dirt as his legs shifted back.
"AAAAAWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!"

Set in a post-apocalyptic world. After the world's major countries launched nuclear missiles to every major continent, the residents of the planet thought it would be the end. Instead, the explosions broke the barrier between their world and that beyond.
Some called it the veil. Some called it the astral plane. Some still think it's some hallucination from kicking the bucket.
If only they were so lucky.

He wasn't trying to- ugh, it's a mote point. He's certainly not going to admit it.
Bluebell felt gingerly to his side and shook his head, fairly certain he hadn't torn anything that wasn't already torn. The pain goes toothless again, the longer he's awake, some medication or other still lingering in his system. That's good.
Sorry, is the first thing he signed. Didn't mean to bother you.
What was he thinking last night, running here? Tempest so rarely slept as is and he'd wasted her time. And the way he acted... like some quivering child, who still needed his parents comfort. Bluebell can't be mad she stayed, however.
Thank you though, he added. For not leaving. What questions do you have?
Bluebell prepared to face his death head-on, shoulders raised and expression blank. Please don't let him have said anything embarrassing. Oh. Wait. He's never been more glad to be mute.
Tempest sighed softly, shaking her head. Her hands pulled back, signing at a reduced pace.
{You were not a bother, Bluebell.} He had scared her, but that was hours and hours past- and her admonishment of his immediate bolt attempt seemed to have struck him rather harshly (either that or it was the meds,...or the injury). It would seem, however, that he wouldn't be answering her first question. He seemed no worse for wear, though...and she couldn't smell any fresh blood in the air (nor see it on his clothes)....
So for now, she'd let that one slide. Her faint frown faded back into a trademark blank expression, the fires dimming until they flickered out in faint puffs of smoke.
{Who hurt you?} She could've asked 'why didn't you immediately go to the physician', but something in her heart refused to ask. If anything, it flipped at the thought of an answer- so she'd be avoiding that. {And why.}
First time in the city, and it's in the state it was. What Loki wouldn't give for someone to be able to see it before the veil was shattered and all hell literally broke loose. But he couldn't change the past. Was only just starting to come to terms with what needed to be done to shape the future.
"It can be." He answered the question with only a glance in the direction the other was looking. "Devils tend to become more active as the sun sets, but the Vampire Clan ruling that section of the city are more of a threat if I'm being honest."
To which he had yet to not be. Dishonesty got someone nowhere in the city. Far too many of the creatures that now called it home could see right through a lie.
Loki included if he decided to look at a person's soul. He took in a breath that he didn't technically need and let it out as a sigh through his mask. Icy Blue eyes shifted to the woman.
"Do you need somewhere safe for the night? I can lead you back to the encampment."
Devils, vampires...this world was sounding more and more mystical by the minute.- Though she was certainly one to judge, given the state of her own. The ravenette turned her head back. Hopefully, the rules for such creatures were similar to the myths of her own realm.
A small part of her wondered if her blood would be considered demonic...Chaos only knew how often she'd internally cursed the creature that flowed within.
"I do not yet know how to defend myself from such beings, so a safe place would be welcome." Could she trust this stranger, though? Who knew. It didn't really matter if she could or couldn't. Worst case, she'd tear the fabric between this reality and her own, and slip back. But that would be after gaining what information she could. "If vampires and devils are here, then is it safe to assume others are, as well?"
Should she give her name?...what if fae rules existed in this place? Or were the fae real? Witches? Warlocks? Angels? Deities?- she gently pushed that train of thought away from her active mind.
The pup didn't need to be told anything when the hand drew close to hers. In fact, she tried to spread her fingers like the werehog and reached out to press against his palm. Her entire paw fit in his palm, but she was in awe all over again. So much so that Harmony giggled, Buddy smiled, and Light gave a soft snort before quickly translating for her what Bless was saying.
The very beginnings of a tail wag started before she was handed off, and Light actually moved back over so that the toddler could continue to take in the larger Mobian. It was safe to say that she was completely enamored by him.
He was even willing to bet that if he put her down, she'd be trying to get Bless to pick her up. One way to find out. Down she went, set on her paws, and she dropped to all fours to close the space. In a matter of seconds, her arms raised while she balanced on her haunches.
"Up!" Light left her to her own devices and focused on the others now that Murk had joined them. A glance was given to Node. Just a subtle quirk of an eyebrow, then he removed the black gloves from his hands. If they were close to Volt and Harmony, they already knew what cybernetics were.
Volt glanced over, then focused back on Murk. A hand was offered. "We have a mutual friend in the multiverse. If the name Arrow rings any bells, you know who we're talking about."
Harmony was next to offer up a hand, then Buddy. The two teens were as polite as could be while also just watching the way Gibbous was all but obsessed with Bless. A giggle followed the pup trying to sniff the lighter blue chest fluff, only to end up letting out a sneeze.
Especially since she went right back into it. All of her curiosity and excitement came in the form of chattering away in her native language while running her small hands all over his fur. Despite her best effort, Harmony could only translate some of it.
Most of which was 'big, fluffy, soft, and comfy'.
Light shook his head. "He should be flattered. Most Sonic alternates she meets, she tries to take a chunk out of."
Bless stifled a laugh. Tiny, for the time being- but he had an idea of the mobian she'd grow up to be.- Or at least,...a version thereof. He had no doubt Gibbous would eventually be just-as dangerous as her older counterpart, but in her own manner.
A part of him hoped she'd never have to know how to be so dangerous. He gently pulled his paw back as Gibbous was transitioned, grinning from ear to ear. It was pleasant to know another who saw this form and didn't initially freak.
"Ah, well, if your dad's,..." It...looked like he wasn't quite paying attention. Did he think Gibbous was safe? A compliment from any father, Bless was certain. "---looks like he is, so...up you go!" He bent down, gently picking the small one up in a mimic of how he'd seen Light holding her. "How's the view?"
Node's gaze only briefly fell on the exposed hand. All metal...made sense, it certainly had felt the part. They silently turned over their left to reveal its surface. Kept low so it wouldn't be too noticed, but it wasn't all that difficult to see the scarred-over flesh where fur should have been growing. A faint grin crossed their features for a moment.
Not the same, but they wanted to show he wasn't alone on the hand differences.
Their hand turned back over.
At the name 'Arrow', a hint of the pseudohog's unease seemed to ebb. He nodded, even as a hand reached to grasp Volt's own- followed by Harmony's and Buddy's.
"I know him. It's been some time since he traversed to my universe,...if you run into him, do let him know Murk is looking forward to when he next drops by?" His gaze drifted to Gibbous as the pup sneezed, earning a snicker from Bless.
"Yeah, it's a bit ticklish to the nose! But it's pretty soft, too." He may not have understood all of what Gibbous was saying, but the werehog didn't mind. She was excited, and that was all he needed to consider this a success. He'd not even try asking her to slow down (Chaos knew, he'd get upset if someone asked him to slow his roll when he was like this- he wasn't going to do that to a child). Though his head did turn, regarding Light with a quirk of a brow and a smirk. "Sooooo, she's bitey?"
"If she had, I suppose we would have seen a ring-fall."
"I'll just be happy she didn't." Given how young she was, though, Bless probably would have tried to laugh it off, if they had to guess.
There was some relief in finding out there was only one person. Even if Simon had a feeling there was a lot of power brewing underneath their skin. He had to hope if it came down to it, he could get away.
The hybrid stared the other down, his pupils expanding for a moment before contracting back to their normal size as he nodded. "Alright."
Hrm... Ex regarded the other. Debating if they should have mentioned it, should've just let it be and moved on, but it was too late now. It was out in the open- and...wh.
...'alright'.- But- an eyebrow raised, blinking a few times as their mind slid over their words. Something had been misunderstood, somewhere in there- they just weren't- sure where. They shook their head after a few moments. If he was making no comment as to his injury, then hopefully it really would be fine.
"...if you can, follow me." The dragon turned. Their tail slid, barely brushing over grass. The tattered tuft of purple skin, marred and torn in places, gently pushed the greenery down- only for it to bounce back up once it had passed over. They started forward, feet pressing quietly into the earth as arms moved to part some of the foliage ahead.
Sleep, or unconsciousness or whatever passing out after a stab wound was called, was blissful and the pain was briefly toothless, the sting of cleaning solution or the prick of a needle for stitches was distant and hazy, like a fragment of a bad dream.
Waking was a different story, like forcing himself to crawl through mud. Bluebell's eyelids were heavy as they fluttered open, absently noting hours must've passed since he got home. He'd have to check in with Fleetway, make sure he isn't causing problems, but that can wait until he's out of Tempest's bed-
Tempest's bed?
With a blush and a jolt, Bluebell went to rush out, hopefully before he was caught, but was stopped by his body harshly protesting the quick movement. Bluebell hissed, moving a hand to his side.
It was about then his senses let him know that he wasn't alone.
Bluebell glanced up and blanched at Tempest and her, ah, totally chill expression. Bluebell smiled sheepishly at her.
There was no way for her to track the movement. But she definitely felt when the whole of her arm had suddenly been snapped back- falling to the bed as Bluebell rushed for a split second. Just enough time for her arm to jerk and spark fire, eyes snapping fully open and firing to catch him, or at least a trace---
-he was...still in her bed. Albeit, it looked as though her knight now had the faintest dusting of a flush on his features- and was holding the injury he'd sustained. Her eyebrows scrunched, narrowed by the barest of threads.
"You would abandon the bed you struggled so mightily to get to, last night?" The king's tone was as even as ever. Expression altered by only the slightest of fractions, the barest touch of annoyance. Which, for most, would be frightening enough. The ever-so-soft flicker of fires would have had any pompous noble fleeing for the hills.
Tempest pulled her arm back, gaze briefly flickering towards the other's side.
"I expect you not to run, Bluebell." The payment would always come due- and now that he was awake,... "And I expect you to answer my questions.- First, however, did you tear the stitches in your haste to flee your king's side?"
