This is going to be a two part event that will bring everyone together in one location – London – so that it’s easier to get started without worrying about the fact that several of our taken characters are in very disparate locations.
Everyone has been called back to London for the same reason – the Inaugural Ball of Minister Wallace O’Leary. The Death Eaters are planning on infiltrating the ball and killing the Minister in order to instill panic and chaos within the Wizarding World. The Order received an anonymous tip from a source that goes by the name of Tarpeia. This source told them that the Death Eaters will be at the Ball, but they are not sure for what purpose. Regardless, everyone will be in London for the next two weeks.
For the first week of this event, both sides will be preparing for what they are about to do – the Death Eaters to kill the Minister and the Order to stop whatever the Death Eaters are planning on doing. The second week will be playing out the Inaugural Ball in game play.
His Lord’s Council and The Circle know the extent of the Death Eaters’ plan. All other members know that they will be attending the Inaugural Ball, but not for what purpose. Level One and Level Two Order members know that Tarpeia is a Death Eater informant, but they don’t know who it is. Level Three members know that something is going on and that they have suddenly gotten tickets to the Inaugural Ball, but they don’t know why. Neutral individuals have all received tickets to the Ball as well, and they can choose to attend or to stay home.
Plan amongst yourselves for the first week of this event. We will be messaging players extra information that their characters might have and giving certain players certain tasks during this event, so check your inbox! We also might have random plot drops throughout the week to complicate things for both sides, so make sure to check the r&rplot tag.

When you return to your estate, there is an envelope waiting for you on your table. You open it to find a blank sheet of parchment, folded over once. After unfolding it, however, the page goes up in flames. You drop the parchment immediately, the fire singing the tips of your fingers, and once the paper has burned through, the embers rise, forming letters in the air – a message.
RETURN TO LONDON IMMEDIATELY.
The ash falls to the ground after staying in the air for a long, pregnant pause. There are no remains, nothing that could tie you back to the message. You stare at the small pile of charred paper on your floor before grabbing your cloak, your wand, and your mask and apparating out of the place with a large gust of wind.
You’re walking down the street when you feel something in your pocket grow warmer and warmer, until it’s so hot that you fear it might burn. You dig around in your pocket until you find a golden galleon, entirely similar to the rest in your bag except for a few minute details. The Roman Numeral lettering on the top changes as you watch it, finally settling on a form.
LONDON.
You stare at it for a moment. This is a call to action, and you would be remiss to ignore it. Quickly and deftly, you sneak into the nearest alley, picturing a bustling city full of people and familiar places. Within the blink of an eye, you’re gone, whisked away into thin air.

August 26th, 1960 (i may have the year wrong since i’m horrible at math but i’m pretty sure that would make her twenty one?? like just turned twenty one?? )
Born on the cusp of the Summer last hurrahs, Mary is actually quite an unorthodox Virgo in the sense that she believes she doesn’t have as much of the higher standards that people of her sign have show to possess. But after she was brutally attacked, the girl has proven that she can reach her own goals with great ease if she simply allows herself to mark is as plausible. However, what distinguishes her the most from her zodiac sign directly would be her sense of self sacrifice. She has chosen the path of fighting the war and only helping others as she breaks more and more as the days tick by because she knows others need her more. She knows it’ll be worth the stress, blood and tears.
Character Personality:
(+) Resilient; Mary had never considered herself brave but after she as attacked she realized that she was something even better; resilient. She was resilient in the sense that she didn’t let herself become a shell of who she was before, that she managed to keep going with her head held high and strived to be nothing but a better version of who she was before. She was resilient because she had known hurt and the dangers of how short life can be. She was resilient by making herself known for more than the girl with big doe eyes and infectious smile. That she wasn’t to be taken with pity.
(+) Kind; a heart of gold is the only thing that Mary has ever possessed in her being. Whilst you would think that a girl like her would have turned hard and cold towards the world, she did the exact opposite of what was expected and remained kind because she didn’t want to let the world get the best of her. Her parents had always told her that an act of kindness went further than an act of mercilessness - this being one of Mary’s many mottos for her morning mantra.
(+) Selfless; Her mother had always told Mary that you should care as much for others as much as you wish to be cared for which has led Mary to make this a part of her life mottos. Selflessness becoming one of the strongest of her attributes. There is always a warm smile and a soft ‘are you okay?’ coming from her when she notices someone having some sort of emotional turmoil. Due to her an almost mothering nature that comes from it, it makes the girl almost impossible to not talk to about your problems.
(-) Naive; Even after years of hardship, Mary is incredibly naive. She tends to see the good in things even after her ordeals and personal battles which makes her a fairly easy target when it comes to being criticized or mocked. This tended to occur more often at Hogwarts but even after graduating, the girl can’t seem to shake off that mentality no matter what she does. Sometimes it’s even in the simple things she does. However, she doesn’t truly see this as a fault but more so a reason to keep going.
(-) Self Sacrificing; If there is something Mary values the most in the world, it’s the people she cares about. There is nothing in the world that she wouldn’t face to ensure that her friends and loved ones are protected from the evils of the Wizarding world - even if that means having to fall in the process. It’s the primary reason why she has chose to stay away from her family for such a long time; whilst she misses them terribly, she won’t let a single hair on their heads be lost if her own can be taken instead.
(-) Escapist; Over the last five years, Mary has the epitome of an escapist. She believes that this is the only way that she can actually stay strong after Mulcibers attack on her - to prove that she will never be someone’s lamb ever again. She has days where she longs to actually be able to confide in people, to let everything out, to cry and finally feel free of her burdens but she continues to just push that away with tasks she considers ‘more important’.
Headcanons:
After she was attacked by Khai Mulciber, Mary has been a long time sufferer of PSTD. She has tried her hardest to not allow any of her friends to notice by diving into her projects and order missions but she is fairly certain they have caught glimpses here and there of her acting differently towards them when they see her. But the effects of her stress are beginning to catch up to her in the forms of nightmares she thought she had gotten rid of years ago, making her a lot more irritable and isolated from everyone she cares for deeply even if she wishes it didn’t have to be this way.
Mary has and always will be an artistic soul. From the time she was a little girl running around after the chickens on her families farm just to get feathers to make a necklace, the girl knew that she had a gift of a creative mind. A journal and quill are almost always on her person because when she starts to feel herself getting worked up, she will pull out the small journal and start doodling things that appear in her mind. After finished, she will burn the doodles that are of things that harm her but keep those that make her happy. She even is known to draw her friends portraits of themselves to hang in their homes if they wish to keep them. If they don’t, Mary sells them to a muggle gallery she used to frequent as a child.
Whilst she has never really dwelled on the idea of sexuality, Mary had come to realize that she is pansexual over the course of the last few years. She has always looked at people the same way - finding the likes of men, woman and those in between to be attractive for very different ways. However, this isn’t something that really matters to her since dating/relationships are something that the young woman believes she doesn’t even deserve. That nobody is going to truly invest time into getting to know her when they find out just how broken she is.
Patronus / Boggart / Mirror of Erised:
Mary’s happiest memory would have to be one of her and her family when they went on a picnic in the hills near the small town where they lived for a camping adventure. Mary and her mother had never been a fan of camping but had thought it would be nice to just get the trip out of the way since her father and older brother had been looking forward to it. The specific part of the trip that Mary likes to focus on when casting her patronus is the part where all sitting around a fire singing and eating a bunch of different snacks just having a nice time. It reminds Mary of what her life used to be before even discovering magic. Every time she thinks of this memory, a butterfly springs out of the tip of her wand without hesitation. However, days where she is feeling more low than normal, the butterfly will form for but a few seconds before dispersing in just a cloud.
Mary’s biggest fear would have to be losing her family. The main reason she distanced herself from them was so that they would get hurt and the idea of them getting hurt regardless of her closeness or not mortifies her to the bone. She would die inside knowing she was the potential cause, that being ‘special’ as she was drove them to their end. When manifested, it is merely the corpses of her dead brother and parents at her feet which never fails to drive the girl pale and to the point of passing out.
Whilst her biggest fear is the loss of her family, Mary also still longs for the day where she can see her family again. She wants to be able to hug her mother, have long walks in the fields with her father and listen to her brother rant on and on about what he’s doing with his life. She wants to see if her brother will ever marry his girlfriend or if she will ever be an aunt all from a front row seat instead of a back door corner. She wants to have them there to provide her with support and love only they can give her because as much as she loves her friends and fellow order members, they can’t fully replace her own family.
Rapid Fire Questions:
Avoid your problems or address them head on? Avoid, avoid, avoid. Mary has basically become the Princess of Avoidance the last few years even though she is constantly telling people that they have to face their problems with their head high. It’s extremely hypocritical of her but she doesn’t even see the problem in avoiding things that are so important.
Weapon of choice? Wand. As boring as the object may be in comparison to what other people consider the best for their tactics, Mary is particularly clingy to her wand which makes her use it for nearly everything you can imagine.
Realist, Optimist, or Pessimist? Regardless of everything that has gone and is presently going on in her life, Mary MacDonald is an eternal optimist. She prefers to think that things will get better in whatever situation and it’s the driving force behind everything she does. If it wasn’t, she would have been dead ages ago.
One night stands or meaningful connections? Mary has always been a hopeless romantic so she would honestly prefer a meaningful connection over anything. However, Mary has a very hard time making connections with people she isn’t used to being around due to the excess walls she has up to protect herself from harm so it’s almost pointless for her to think about that.
The Quibbler or The Daily Prophet? The Quibbler, for sure. Mary honestly can’t stand the things that are published in the Daily Prophet unless they happen to be some sort of praise towards someone she knows. Otherwise? She’d rather read the quirky things in The Quibbler to at least smile a bit more often.
Beer, Wine, or Liquor? Occasionally, Mary will drink Wine or Beer but she would never drink straight up Liquor. She has a think with alcohol that she can’t drink it in strong doses or she’ll get horrible migraines so she has to be mindful of that.
Night owl or early riser? A mixture of both. Due to her PTSD and just general line of work for the Order, Mary doesn’t really even sleep all that often because she is almost always planning to avoid breaking down into tears. The only things that even bring her peace is nature so the sunrise and talks with the moon at midnight really offer her peace of mind.
Biggest pet peeve? People that pop their gum obnoxiously loud or talk with their mouths full. The gum popping is something she doesn’t quite understand her distaste for but she simply isn’t a fan of hearing a pop! every so often if she’s trying to stay busy. She’s pretty much smacked the Prewett twins multiple times for doing so. As for the latter, she just finds it disgusting and rude since words can still be exchanged after one finishes.

Future Plans:
Whilst I’m normally a develop as I go type of person, I would honestly love to explore Mary’s place in the order a little further and how it is that she manages to work alongside the Prewett twins when they go on their missions. I’d also like to see if she has had to deal with death in any way at her own hand against someone. She is already a very broken character who is breaking more and more with the passage of time so I’d love to see how she would react to someone facing an end that could have easily been hers if Mulcibers attack had gone above and beyond.
I’d also love to see where she goes with her family matter. To me, Mary is and always will be a family oriented person who loves to surround herself with her loved ones to make it past everything and since they’re currently out of the question for safety purposes, I’d want to see if she keeps going with this or cracks at one point and goes to see them.
Connections:
Marlene McKinnon, Lily Evans - best friends - Mary met Lily and Marlene the very first day they arrived at Hogwarts after being sorted into Gryffindor as they all frenzied over the excitement of starting at the magical institute - Mary feeling an awful lot of comfort knowing that Lily was also a muggleborn that didn’t know much about Hogwarts which allowed the brunette to open herself up very quickly to the girls. Soon enough, they did everything together and they were the first people that were at her side after the attack she endured. They give her strength when she finds herself lost and depressed. They give her love that she could almost compare to the love of sisters. Sisters that Mary would never replace for anything else in the world since she can’t see her own family anymore.
Remus Lupin - friend - If there is someone that Mary has come to grow close to after her attack when she was but thirteen, it’s Remus Lupin. In her hours where she wished to just be alone and read a book, the boy offered her company and a listening ear in case she needed some sort of distraction from whatever ailed her. He was almost like a beacon of change for Mary because he ensured that she didn’t go completely insane much like Lily and Marlene happened to do. He added a token of laughter and light to her darkest days even when he himself could be a bit gloomy so it turned almost in a give and receive friendship. When one was down, the other would uplift them.
Khai Mulciber - detests/lowkey scared of - The day that Khai Mulciber attacked Mary was the day that changed her life forever. She never understood why he thought she was someone that would deserve this form of treatment but the fact that it happened so suddenly has left her shattered to this day. The male has easily become the most hated person on Mary’s radar and she feels like she will never rest easy knowing that he is out there causing any form of harm to other innocent people, changing them or leading them to paths that Mary herself would be in. Hateful words constantly spew from the soft spoken girl in his presence but she mostly prefers to avoid him so that she doesn’t end up doing something borderline lunatic.

I feel like the date really fits well. Andromeda is definitely a capricorn. She’s practical and reserved, not wanting to draw any attention to herself as she knows that any attention she gets is just bad attention, both of which are capricorn traits.
Character Personality:
(+) Passive - Andromeda’s never been one to voice her opinions or stand against the grain. She learned at a young age that speaking out against others brought nothing good, so she stays quiet and goes along with the flow. She’s very quiet and well behaved, something her parents and the other pure bloods absolutely adore
(+) Open-Minded - Andromeda’s always had an open mind and made her own decisions around the information she’s been given. Just because she’s been raised by a certain belief, doesn’t mean it’s the belief she follows. Throughout her years at Hogwarts, and the years since she’s graduated, Andromeda’s worked on secretly getting the opinions of both sides and made her own opinion on the war that’s being fought.
(+) Free Spirited - Ever since she was a child, Andromeda’s had her own ideas and her own wants. She’s never fit in with the world her parents groomed her for, and while she is able to act like the perfect pure blooded daughter, she’s anything but. Every time her mother makes a remark, her sisters giggle, or her father raises his fist, Andromeda gets just slightly closer to breaking the mask that acts more like a collar and chain.
(-) Obedient - Andromeda has been groomed and conditioned over her whole life to be an obedient servent to her parents, and one day, whoever it is they wish for her to marry. No matter how much she hates it, Andromeda can’t help but do as she’s told and be the perfect image of a tamed dog.
(-) Guarded - Growing up in the environment Andromeda grew up in, and having to hide the thoughts she holds, it’s no mystery why she keeps to herself. There are very few people Andromeda feels comfortable confiding in, or even letting know a sliver of her true self. She was raised to believe that thinking differently is wrong, and can be dealt with with a firm fist. She’d rather not risk the chance of disciplinary actions at the least.
(-) Influenced - Andromeda can very influenced by actions of others. Despite what she wants, she is often convinced to do exactly as her family wants. A few kind words, the promise of safety, and the action to make it seem as if Andromeda is accepted and loved is all she needs to do exactly as her parents ask. It’s all due to the conditioning they did to her since childhood.
Headcanons:
1. Cygnus Black was a cruel man, something Andromeda learned at a young age. He had a lot of anger in him, and as Bellatrix was his favourite, and Narcissa was the family’s puppet, Andromeda was left behind. Andromeda learned to avoid her father whenever she could, and to never even hesitate to do exactly as he asked. Andromeda was very excited for Hogwarts, if for no other reason then she could stay away from him.
2. Sirius has always been the family member Andromeda was closest to. She found something in him that she realized she had in herself. Whenever the cousins spent time together, she would always hang out around Sirius. When he was ready to go to Hogwarts, Andromeda was excited. When he was sorted into Gryffindor, she didn’t care, but the rest of the family did. Over time, they grew apart, and eventually Sirius left the family. Andromeda still misses him.
3. After Sirius officially left the family, Andromeda felt sad, and jealous, for weeks. Sirius was her closest family member, but she knew she couldn’t follow in his footsteps, no matter how much she wanted to. About two weeks after he left and his face was burned off of the black tapestry, Andromeda received a package from him. Inside it was a collar and chain. While it had a sad and dark meaning about it, Andromeda couldn’t help but laugh. She still has the collar to this day, hidden in her appartment. She hopes that one day if she ever manages to leave the world she feels trapped in, she can hand it back to him personally.

What’s your character’s happiest memory?
Andromeda’s happiest memory is from when she was enrolled in Hogwarts. She had been walking through the halls, daydreaming instead of paying attention, when she walked right into an unsuspecting Hufflepuff. No one was around, so she didn’t have to pretend to hate him, something she really didn’t want to do. After a few minutes talking, he lead her to an area of the castle no one ever visited, an area she could be herself in. They talked for hours that day, and met up there whenever they could spare. That was the day Andromeda made her first real friend, a muggleborn by the name of Ted Tonks.
What shape does their patronus take?
Andromeda’s patronus is a hawk, albeit a very small one. Andromeda likes to think she has a bird for a patronus because of how much she justs wants to get up and fly away. Others have told her hawks are observant and creative, and that they can overcome their problems. Andromeda hopes that’s some sort of sign.
What is your character most afraid of? How does this manifest?
Andromeda’s boggart has changed over the past few years, but currently it’s something she refuses to let anyone see. Her boggart is Ted, lying on the ground, dead. But it’s not Ted’s death that she fears more than anything, it’s how it would happen. Her biggest fear is that she will be forced to join the death eaters, and will end up killing muggleborns, even ones she is friends with.
What does your character want the most in this world?
If Andromeda was to look into the mirror of Erised, she would see herself, dressed the way she wished to dress, and talking to the people she wanted to talk to. She would no longer be hiding beneath her mask, but showing the world who she truly is. Her cousin Sirius would be by her side, smiling approvingly. Her parents and sisters would be behind her, their smiles filled with acceptance.

The Daily Prophet. Andromeda was raised around the Prophet, and she reads it every day to find out what’s going on in the world. She’s only read the Quibbler once, when her friend Ted visited her apartment, and she thought it was absolutely insane (but it did make her laugh, so there’s that).

Wine. Andromeda’s grown up drinking wine at the dinner table and any fancy event her parents forced her sisters and her to go to. It’s just become a habit for wine (particularly red) to be her alcohol of choice.

- I want to work on Andromeda escaping her shell and starting to act like her own person, not who she’s been conditioned to be. I’d love to work on her confronting her family and really escaping the toxic environment she was raised in. I know it’ll take quite a while, but I’d just really love to watch Andromeda grow.
-I think it would be really cool to maybe get Andromeda into a bit of the order. Like, if she was passing information her sister or parents would say. Just for her to realize how wrong the death eaters are, and just try to work against them, in ways that won’t make her homelife any more dangerous for her.
Connections:
Ted Tonks - Friend. Ted was the first real friend Andromeda ever made, and is one of the only people she feels comfortable being herself in front of. Andromeda feels safe whenever Ted’s around, something she’d never felt in her home life. She misses him so much now that he’s away, visiting his parents, but she still sends him owls whenever she can.
Emma Vanity - Friend. Being a Slytherin means that you end up living with a lot of death eaters, and death eater ally’s (more so than other houses). As someone who avoiding aligning herself with anyone and staying neutral, Emma ended up being someone Andromeda would spend her time with. While they were never girls that would share secrets or become best friends, they did start spending a lot of time together.
Sirius Black - Cousin. Sirius has always been Andromeda’s closest family member, and even though he was younger than her, she looked up to him and his spirit a lot. When Sirius was sorted into Gryffindor, Andromeda’s family convinced her to spend less time with him, and since he left the family, she hasn’t spoken to him in years. She does miss him though, and she misses the freedom she felt when they hung out.
