Do you know of any Gyaru shops for like a little larger gals?? Is that even possible ?? Lol Iām not obese but, I am a bit overweight?? So Iām a bit self conscious about if thereās anything like that lol. You donāt look overweight but I was just seeing if there was any places you knew!! āćļ¼ććāļ¼Also, how do you go about seeing the right kind of Gyaru subset for you personally? Iām having trouble deciding what style to go for... the Gyaru wiki said gaijins shouldnāt do Kogal ;;
hey! sorry I have taken so long to respond ;-;
japanese brand is generally one size fits all and itās pretty small (US 2-6, usually). there are western brands that fit the kurogyaru d.i.a./garula look, namely Affliction! thereās a store called Buckle that carries some majorly cute stuff
People always say āgyaru fashion isnāt about japanese brand, you can wear what you want!!ā and thatās true but itās easier to figure out how to dress yourself when youāre able to match an inspiration pic 1:1 with the correct brand.
older releases of Wā”C are really forgiving in terms of size and it can look really cute up to an American 12!
Some d.i.a. tops (specifically t-shirts and most tune tops) have a nice amount of give and can still look great.
I would stay away from MAļ¼RS, since that brand tends to run on the smaller side (00-4) and most items do not have elastic.
It can take a lot of trying on and trial and effort but if youād like to try Japanese gyaru brand, I recommend Wanboo on Rakuten. Just search in the shop for the brands you want to try! They offer international shipping and a lot of the items are >$10. It is mostly secondhand but itās really a wonderful resource.
(I know this is long lol sorry) At the end of the day, half of the gaijin community go for old school looks, and the other half go for cool modern styles. What style you feel fits you best will determine where you should shop. If you feel as though you want to be a modern cool girl, then most mall brands will work perfectly fine and you can find tons of styling inspiration around instagram (japanese and western!)
I canāt really give great advice on choosing what sub style to go for, but I will say, look through a lot of inspiration and find the look that you will feel most comfortable in. I find that Iām much happier with my looks when I am actually comfortable in my clothes (which means my best looks makeup-wise are always in sweats or a t-shirt and jeans š).
If you tend to go for sweet pink girly looks in your day to day life, you might lose confidence/inspiration if you try to force dark heavy ora ora looks.
I guess Iām trying to say, choose the style that is the extension of yourself, not the one that you want to force yourself to be.
Note: You can do kogal looks if you want to, theyāre super cute! But most gals do the uniform look as a costume, not as an everyday style. If you want to do it everyday, definitely look into the nanchatte community and style! :3
(Iām sorry this was all over the place, but I tried to give you the fullness of my thoughts on the subject)
If you ever find an item you want but youāre unsure of the sizing, feel free to message me! Iāll try to help you figure out how it will fit! ā”
