hi everyone, i'm so sorry that this announcement took longer than i wanted it to, but also for its suddenness. after some long discussions between the admin team, i've unfortunately decided to soft close rejects. if you know me, then you know that any time i admin a group, for better or worse my number one concern is always about the space i'm making and all of the members' writing experiences. i've run multiple groups before where i was able to balance this on top of multiple muses and creating events, and initially i was able to push through it, but the stress had started to affect my mental health. i'd prefer not to share the exact reasons, but the anxiety of everything started to affect my physical health too, and it was a cycle of one causing more of the other, to the point where i was worrying about it almost obsessively. i don't believe it should ever get to that point for something that should be a fun hobby, which is why i ultimately came to this decision. to clarify, though this was discussed by the admin team, it was me as the "main" admin (in charge of the plot, lore, events, making this group to begin with, etc) who first brought this up.
i can't apologize enough for letting everyone down, especially to those who were still writing and looking to apply. i also want to thank my admin team who've helped out so much behind the scenes and helped keep me steady for this long. i was really happy to build lore and write with everyone, and i had so much planned for the future of this group. i had considered dropping my muses and being only an admin for a while or stepping down as an admin, but with the way of things today, i was also too worried to not be completely "in control" of something that was originally "my" group in case anything happened, and i'm personally always too concerned about what others think to give myself the distance i would've needed to recover properly.
i intend to take a break from adminning for a while, but in the meantime, any members who want to keep writing their muses on the dash can do so. rejects/astonish is one of my favorite verses, so i know that i'm never going to completely let go of it; maybe someday (in the very distant future) it could be revisited again, but it depends on many things, some of which are out of my control.
i'm really sorry again for cutting the rp short, and i completely understand any feelings of disappointment/frustration --- i just ask that you direct it towards me as the main admin and not any of the others, as again this was primarily my decision. i'm sorry and thank you again for everything, thank you to everyone who wrote life into this space, and i wish you all the best moving forward.
hello! i hope admins don't mind me sending this in as a current member! i was trying to reply directly to a post but didn't realize there's a character limit rip (it’s also a bit long so if you guys would prefer to just take snippets to address than post the whole thing i totally understand). referencing the other message that also got sent in - i admittedly also am very slow at getting back to people when it comes to plotting and messaging. i try to warn about this as much as i can by trying to emphasize that point when posting my intro and ooc points just because sometimes even i don't know how inconsistent my schedule can be (in hopes that it allows muns to know my slowness isn't targeted or due to anything on their end).
before i get off topic! i just wanted to offer some ideas to try and help new members from feeling unwelcomed while preventing any shadowbans! one idea i had in mind is if new members are alright with having welcome messages commented on the acceptance posts? or even if they went directly on intro posts so that mun's can receive those notifications directly. in that case, maybe older members could even take the extra step of letting new members know if they're open to random starters when dropping a welcome comment? as an example, i love random starters and just jumping into writing and seeing where dynamics go sometimes. albeit, i haven't done this specifically yet because i've been in the process of more detailed plotting from the get go since joining. on one note, i've also been struggling a bit with the placement of my muses which shook me off axis a bit which i think can hinder plotting even more and that unfortunately turns into a domino effect of not getting to newer members because i know that other members are still waiting on me.
as another point with the random starters, maybe current members can also indicate on their blogs somewhere if random starters are welcomed if new members are scoping out muses? i know that i for one would be alright with having or writing random starters for others with the option to explore the dynamic or connection as we write!
on an ending note, as a current member of the roleplay who hasn't quite been up to speed, i do want to apologize to all the newer members who have joined and not felt welcomed since it is part of current member's duties to help create a warm and active space for new members to feel welcomed into! i think that the current members and admins have been really great at fostering an interactive and fun space to write in though and hope that slower pacing doesn't deter new members from wanting to engage too much!
i have to log off in a bit for early work, but i'm posting this real quick so that others can see!
i do like that idea of indicating on your blog whether you'd be open to random starters / threads / plotting messages (whichever one applies)! i've seen multiple blogs make use of pinned posts which i think is a good place to put it too. clearing up some of that initial doubt or perhaps anxiousness about reaching out to strangers right at the beginning can definitely go a long away.
we'd be okay with members interacting with acceptance posts if they'd like! engaging on ooc posts is also a good idea and something i've already seen happening, i think the notification would help make sure that the original poster does that you interacted with it.
hi i just wanted to chime in re: anon's last ask! i think another problem (which i am totally guilty of too) is that people can be really slow at getting back to plotting messages, which can probably feel discouraging for new members, too. older members had a chance to plot when everyone was still super enthusiastic and plotting like crazy, and i think some people burnt out hahaha i don't know how to fix this sadly :( but i thought it was worth mentioning! and for all of us to be mindful of, too
i totally agree, i've been slower on my muses too, especially during the work week. unfortunately i'm not sure how to concretely "fix" it either since everyone's irl situations look different, but i do think that those are good steps forward --- keeping all of this in mind and trying to be better about it! even if you can't get to things until later in the week/over the weekend, i've found that knocking out several messages at one time vs spreading them out has helped me stay more focused / keep momentum while i'm doing them --- it's also been helpful to be more proactive with questions about first threads or participating in an event together, because knowing that there'll be an end goal of making a starter/replying to a starter gives me a tangible next step to work towards. it's not a magical fix and not the only approach, but i figured i'd also share, since it helps make things feel more manageable to me. thank you for sharing, it's definitely worth bringing to attention!
(!) due to the mun's request, the muse @/luvjiyeon has been dropped. the following have been reopened: faceclaim jo yuri, the ability zoolingualism, and unit #301 (2/4). after coordinating with the writer, please hold off on unfollowing the blog just yet as it will be reused for a new muse!
this rp has a really great concept and some really amazing muns but it seems like a good chunk don't reach out or welcome new members at all. :c
hi! first of all, i'm sorry you feel that way. i'm placing this under a cut because it got lengthy, but i tried to cover the existing reasons that i think this could be happening.
this is also a good time to remind everyone in general that we should all be keeping up with messaging new members and/or liking new plot calls or intros. while i know there might be personal comfort/trigger-related reasons involved with avoiding interactions, we encourage interactions with as many as you are comfortable with.
onto the official answer:
i've also noticed that not every single intro i interact with results in getting a message too. however, i'm instinctively reminded of how big of an issue sh*d*wb*ns are right now. i know that a main factor of slower/reduced DMs at the moment is the risk of sb's happening when an account messages 3 or more blogs "too quickly" (a vague metric; i've seen it happen for messages sent within minutes but also personally experienced it even with messages i spaced out over 1-2 days). this has even happened to one of my blogs that was already almost 8 months old, so i always extend this warning to all accounts who were made after tumblr started trying to introduce the new text editor. this might unfortunately apply to a lot of accounts right now.
this is definitely not ideal but is sadly unavoidable at this time. i'm not sure if you've also been around since then, but before this issue started happening, it did use to be more common to send ooc welcome messages to new members and i used to do it a lot more freely, without even waiting for people to like my intro/reach out first. unfortunately now we've had to actively caution our writers against it (and i've stopped doing it myself), especially if it's already hard enough to send plotting messages to those who've liked your intro/plot call. a few weeks ago, we gave some suggestions at the end of THIS ASK on how to reach out for plots / help people reach out to you for plots while keeping down the risk of a sb, which might be helpful if this is the cause. the main ones are to give an alternate means of messaging if possible (ex. d*sc*rd), to state in your intro / ooc posts if you're open to people messaging you first instead so that your blog isn't the one 'sending messages too quickly,' or to like previous members' existing intros (tagged intros can be found in the #RJ:INTRO tag) so that they'll know to reach out to you instead.
additionally, from what i've seen in the last 4-5 years i've been writing on tumblr rp, the norm has moved towards plotting before diving into writing. if you're someone who just prefers to get straight to writing, i can see how it would be more challenging to do that. if this is your case, i'd highly encourage you to post an open starter using the #RJ:STARTER tag or look in there for a few existing open starters from the past! we also release the sentence starters for each event specifically to help with these cases, so that writers can just send them to each other without requiring plots beforehand. here are the STARTER PROMPTS FOR EVENT #002 if you haven't joined yet! we'll also look into making a general, semi-permanent post of starters prompts that could help facilitate interactions without having to join an event.
the last possibility i can think to cover is that, again because the norm has moved largely to "plot before writing," intros / plot calls tend to be the first thing people will go to if they want to interact with others / see who wants to interact with them. if others have interacted with your intro but perhaps you haven't interacted with their intro yet, it might create the misunderstanding where they've shown interest in wanting to plot with you, but that you might not be interested (yet or otherwise) in plotting with them since you didn't like their intro as well --- and since we do also encourage our writers to curate their spaces here as far as avoiding triggering/uncomfortable content for them, i can see how someone would default to assuming that another writer would prefer not to interact (out of caution), hence the lack of that other writer reaching out first. if this sounds like what you're experiencing, i'd encourage you to either reach out to those who've interacted with your posts first or, if you'd prefer them to approach you instead, give their intro a like if you haven't already so they know they can approach you instead. i know that when i've been in the position of the other writer, i hesitate to reach out to muses whose intros i've liked when they haven't interacted with any of my posts in return, because i'd rather respect their wish to not interact with my specific muse. the only way i would know that they could be interested is if they reach out first or if they've stated that they're welcome to being messaged directly.
if you haven't posted an intro, it would also be worth putting out a plot call or an ooc post at least, just to signal to people that you're open to being messaged for plots!
if you have been liking intros / plot calls but you still have not been getting any interactions, even though you don't believe that your muse's background/etc doesn't involve any sensitive content that might make others try to avoid it, please DM us so we can assess the situation and make the necessary announcements for the group!
in the meantime, i'd like to reiterate the reminder at the start, to remember to continue interacting with new members' intros as they come in! i have been seeing this consistent interaction for new intros, and i've seen signs of newer members plotting / messaging / writing with older members, so i do know that there's already a group of writers who've been great about keeping up with plots (and for those who are doing this, i'm very grateful for it!). we're not requiring everyone to interact with every single intro/plot call, but we do want to encourage everyone to interact with as many as they can, especially if your blog is older and is less at risk to be sb'ed now! we can set up as many tags & starter prompts as we can on the main, but in the end they're only as effective as our participation in them, so let's just keep this in mind moving forward!
and of course, if you feel that your situation is different from the cases i've described here, please do reach out so we can take any official steps that we might need through the main! it's our hope to keep welcoming new members into the fold, so we want to make sure we're doing what we can.
current member here. i'm confused. i see a reserve on the main for hwang hyunjin that lasts until the 17th but i also saw a post from another current member about changing their fc to hwang hyunjin. is this accurate or is it a separate reserve? i'm so confused.
nope that's accurate! i was just getting ready for bed so i didn't see they messaged the main letting us know the switch was finished. everything's updated now!

hi, hello! hopefully everyone had a restful weekend. this is just a reminder that today is the last day to finish out threads / ask memes for EVENT 001! however, we're planning to make "honesty hour" a recurring period where you'll be able to answer ask memes from any previous honesty hours, so don't delete them just yet if you were planning to answer them eventually. :)
other reminders: we've also got our next activity check coming up tonight, and part 2 of EVENT 002 will be dropping sometime this week. it will involve custom NPCs for participating muses, so in case you're interested in joining and haven't told us yet, make sure to send an ask/DM letting us know of your muse's participation before thursday, july 18! this is mostly to give us enough time to write out things for everyone. we'll do our best to accommodate late additions after that, but depending on how many there are, it might take us more time to get things out for later joiners!
Sorry if I'm just blind, is there a masterlist of powers somewhere??
hey! we do have one on our TENANTS page, if you scroll down to the "by primary ability" section. there was a glitch a while ago where pages weren't showing up on mobile browsers, so lmk if you can't see it and i can check something for you!
CHO, INSOO (SOO) is a 23 year old metahuman with the ability of ABILITY MIRRORING. they are currently a NURSE at SEONGDONG CORRECTIONAL FACILITY. neighbors describe them as QUIET and INVISIBLE, A GHOST’S SHADOW. overall length of tenancy is 1.5 YEARS with a total of 4 resident complaints on file. in their most recent entry interview, they indicated that their reason for staying at silver line was TO SURVIVE.
INTRODUCTION.
hello.. My name is insoo and i’m currently working as a nurse so if there is ever a dire emergency, you can knock on my door if i’m home. if you ever need someone to feed your cat while you’re away text me @ xxxxxxxx
DISCLOSURE OF ABILITIES.
Ability Mirroring, main:
Within a certain range, Insoo can sense and mirror other metahuman’s abilities
Limitations
Somewhat close range as he works on extending its reach
Temporary and will only last a bit of time after he’s left his range from the person
Can only mirror one ability mainly at a time otherwise his energy depletes very quickly
Mirroring feels very invasive and causes him to feel ill depending how strong the ability is
Speech Suggestion, minor:
Can influence others through speech in the form of suggestions
Takes energy relative to how complex or strong the suggestion is
Works best on those who consent to the influence
Cannot directly influence others with commands (ex. “Do xx” “Take xx” “Go to xx” so if the person is in a very present state of mind they can overcome the suggestion
Has trauma associated to this, so it’s hardly used
TAKAO, MITSUKI (SUKI, SOO) is a 25 year old metahuman with the ability of VAMPIRE PHYSIOLOGY. they are currently a ‘BOUNCER’ at DAEMON. neighbors describe them as TERRIFYING and COVETED, THE HOTTEST OF NIGHTMARES. overall length of tenancy is 5 YEARS with a total of 0 (649) resident complaints on file. in their most recent entry interview, they indicated that their reason for staying at silver line was TO BE CLOSER TO HER JOB.
INTRODUCTION.
Hi! ^^ My name is Mitsuki, friends call me Suki so don’t ever call me that :~) I’m a very busy woman so any complaints about how your boyfriend or girlfriend can’t stop looking my way or coming to my door can be shoved so far up your ass you can taste how stupid you sound <3
Also any complaints submitted to the building will be Dealt With <3 <3 Thanks so much!! xoxo
DISCLOSURE OF ABILITIES.
Vampire Physiology, main:
Consumes life energy either through ingesting or absorbing blood or through close intimacy
Appears like other humans but once her ability manifested she could extend her canines
Heightened physical strength, speed, and agility
Tougher skin
Slowed aging
Limitations
Weakened by direct sunlight
Has to primarily consume life force, only able to get by on a bit of typical food
Weakened by silver, if in contact too long can eat through her skin
The strengths from her physiology are related to her energy so if she’s hungry, she’s typically weaker
Not consuming for too long leaves her prone to heightened paranoia, confusion, and emotional disregulation
Bonding, minor:
After consuming from another person with her primary physiologic ability, she can bond with them allowing telepathy and energy sharing
It depletes her energy and its effectiveness is reliant on how well fed she is
It has a time limit, started out as seconds when it originally manifested but she has been training it to have a longer effect and is now at a few hours as long as she is not hungry
It has a distance limit, currently doesn’t work past city limits
☆ - just a quick note that since we don't have any applications to process at the moment, we're considering "skipping" tonight's usual acceptance routine! if we still have no new applications by 7pm (roughly 45 mins from this timestamp), we'll skip the usual hour of closing the submit; instead it will stay open, and any applications received after 7pm will be reviewed for sunday instead.
if you're actively working on an app and are hoping to get it in for tonight's acceptance, just let us know so we can get you in!
