THE CHURCH OF LIQUID MERCURY is a terroristic organization that is embedded deep within anti-transhuman movements across the western world, claiming a zero-tolerance stance against corporate overreach pervasive throughout society.

The Church has become a largely-misanthropic organization since cybernetic implants became common place, pivoting from an artist's collective and being perverted by zealots into the unflinching entity it is today. In 2049, TCOLM carried out a highly-choreographed plan involving tanks full of mercury dousing subway commuters across the USA and USAZs. The result was staggering; tens of thousands of people poisoned, and their message amplified. At this point, they believed in many of the same pillars of philosophy as other doomsday cults before them; overpopulation begets apocalypse, they were humanity's caretakers, and they even claimed to have a savior to pull it all off. Most people didn't hear any of that, though. Because now all they hear are the mercury detectors going off when they pass the turnstile on their way to work.

What I've learned so far is that, at least for us, there is no burden of proof when it comes to the tile... what it says is what it says, I have just as much say in the actual intricacies of the clay itself as the next person. The design therefore is largely an aesthetic taste; two tiles fired with the same visage of a Phoenician statue or Greco-Roman reliefs do not resolve to the same hash.

That's what makes the convergence of cryptography and ceramics so fascinating. The deepest imperfections of every single piece coming out of the Kiln is both its strength and aesthetic beauty. So yes... we have a say in what the tile resolves to. The Kiln can too; this is how they speak to us.

The natural question, then, is what does one say to a Kiln?
