Just had a really funny idea pop in my head regarding the modern au
Mrs Titus is friends with a lady from her gardening/book club, who probably babysits for them on the side. She starts talking Mrs Titus’s ear off about this guy she met on a dating app, he really might be the one! He’s ex-military and works as a therapist/counselor specializing in reintegration into civilian life and is super sweet! He’s a little stiff around the edges but he’s very genuine! They date for about a year or more and everything is going really well, they’ve been talking about tying the knot but he’s waiting for the right moment to propose. Mrs Titus invites her friend to bring him over to the next cook out/event, her friend is already practically a part of the family so her boyfriend is always welcome!
Which is how Demetrian and Leandros wind up grinding their teeth flat while actively restraining themselves from fist fighting in the backyard while their wife/girlfriend enjoy the bbq and yap

Also, this got away from me, and my brain took it in an angsty direction rather than a humorous one, but at least it's something! And yes, I kept everything purposly vague regarding Titus' past, I still haven't fully decided on that whole background story yet...
Mira did not think to inform Titus of the extra guests. Their barbecue's always drew in multiple friends and family and the occasional neighbor, and Titus welcomed everyone with a small smile and a firm handshake or side-hug. But looking at the scene before her, Mira realized her screw up.
Looking at a similarly tense Sarah, Mira leaned over to whisper; "did you say he was former military as well?"
He friend nodded, holding her beer close to her chest. "They served around the same time. I thought they could've bonded over it..."
Before them and an oblivious crowd were two stone-faced men. One being Mira's husband; Titus, and the other, Sarah's fiancé; Leandros. They both stood a distance away from each other, one of Totus' kids bolted between them, chasing after a friend, screaming and squeeling.
Things originally were going great, Titus had put on his lucky apron, poured himself a lemonade, and took his place standing sigil over the grill. Today's special? Ribs.
Their kids wandered around talking and playing with familiar company, both new and old friends had made their way to the family barbecue, even Chairon and Gadriel had made the rare appearance, everything HAD been going great...Until Sarah arrived with her new guest.
Mira had developed a keen eye for Titus' mood shifts, it helped when she knew he was going through a rough day dealing with memories, and it gave her an ability to learn of his triggers and when to help shift his attention quickly enough to stave off an episode, but there was not much she could do this time.
Her husband, a normally kind and approachable man with a soft smile and confident stance slowly shifted to something colder...right before her eyes he had changed from the man she knew to...a soldier. His expression had morphed into something severe, something murderous, and a quick glance to Sarah and her plus one showed that Leandros was having a similar reaction.
Making her way over to her husband as quickly (and calmly) as possible, she was able to reach him as soon as the couple had as well.
"Um...Demetrian, I-I wanted to introduce you to my fiancé; Quincey Leandros."
Both man were frozen in place, neither making a move. Trying to ground her husband, Mira placed her hand on his back before leaning forward, her hand extended. "It is very nice to finally meet you Quincey, Sarah has been talking my ear off nonstop about you..."
Leandros' expression quickly relaxed into a neutral smile, taking her hand in his, his hand was large and callused like Titus' but his grip was almost feather-light. "Apologies for my intrusion, Mrs. Titus, you have a lovely home."
The ribs were going to dry out by this point with how long Titus hadn't moved. Looking up to her husband, Mira didn't know what to make of his expression anymore. It was steely, and before she could try and drag him inside to talk, he had handed her the tongs and pushed past both Sarah and Leandros.
Sarah gave a worried look to her friend and Mira could only return it, she knew when Titus needed space and...she had guests to serve.
Both women missed the look that passed between the two veterans prior, and after a quick excuse, Leandros followed the path Titus had walked to the side of the house, away from prying eyes.
Leandros calulated for several outcomes, and none were very pleasant. He truly did love Sarah and he would be greatly troubled if she were made to bury his corpse before they even got to marry.
He found his old superior staring into the forest that flanked the house, Leandros had been honest when he said it was a lovely home, built like a craftsman and placed in a perfect cradle of tall, old growth trees .
For a moment, the two men were silent, simply standing in each other's presence. The sun was setting and the birds had quieted down, ready for the night. A fox could be heard crying out a fair distance away.
"Does she know?"
Leandros looked toward the man whose back still faced him and frowned. "Know what?"
The speed at which the moutain of the man had carried himself to stand face to face with Leandros was enough to make the former soldier blink against the force of air.
"-that she's marrying a coward."
A beat of silence, and then, Leandros took a deep breath. "What is it that you want, Titus? An apology?"
"I want nothing from you." It was spat out like bile.
"Good, because I don't regret what I did. Your reckless behavior could've gotten our unit kill-"
Leandros was prepared for the push against the wall and Titus' arm on his neck, he expected nothing less from his former Captain. He could laugh, he always was a live wire.
"Your betrayal cost me everything!" The pain was evident in the man's voice, so much emotion swam in his eyes that Leandros felt the tiniest bit of a sympathy for what the man had endured. But he did not waver in his own confidence.
"Everything?" He questioned. Leandros attempted a huff of laughter but couldn't with the weight on his windpipe. "A beautiful family and beloved leader to a community of veteran brothers..." Leandros paused to stare into the man's rage-tinted eyes. "Yes, I've certainly taken everything." He sneered, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
Titus snarled at the man's attempt at levity. "This is the last time I see you here, understand me? My wife adores Sarah, and it is only because of her that I do not bash your head into the nearest rock. If I have to see a rat I'd rather it not be near my home." At that, Titus pushed away from Leandros and made his way back to the gathering.
Massaging his neck, Leandros tried to chuckle. Oh, how is he going to explain this to Sarah...
And now, both Mira and Sarah stood chatting and laughing, catching up on missed time, all the while throwing warning glances to their partners who stood a few feet away. Galdriel and Chairon had sensed the tension and made a perfect buffer for the animosity brewing between the men. Mira chewed her lip in worry. She would need to ask Titus what the hell Leandros had done to warrant such a reaction, but for now, she took time to enjoy the rest of the evening. Hopefully, Titus would give her an explanation... but when it involved his time in the military? Unlikely.

Would Titus even be capable of treating Mrs Titus’s friend the same, to trust her enough to watch his kids? Or would he be protective and make not so subtle jabs about Leandros?
God I can imagine just how awkward it is the next time she’s around the family — Titus is tense and terse and she just does not feel welcome and leaves early to avoid causing any more trouble
Goes back home to her fiancée teary eyed, “I’ve never seen him act like this, Quin, he was always so fatherly, I just don’t know what happened” And Leandros is just holding her and wincing as he tries to comfort her.
Does he feel guilty that her friendship is damaged because of him? Of course, but also he feels like Titus should be the bigger man in this situation - if he has a problem then he should take it up with Leandros himself, and not take it out on his fiancée

Before the children, Titus and the missus loved the occasional role play. While Titus never felt comfortable with doing anything remotely CNC, their favorite was "My husband is away...will you fix my sink?" Or pretending to be strangers, maybe Titus is a lost wanderer who seduces the kind woman housing him, or Titus' personal favorite; being his wife's servant/knight/subordinate. After kids, the two had to be much more on the down-low about those things, but when the kiddos are at the grand parents house is when the box in the closet comes back out.
Chairon does have an impact play kink but it takes a while for it be encouraged out of him. He's a big guy, and people find him intimidating, his strength is also no joke, so if he ever truly dabbles in it, its when his partner is encouraging/begging him for it. In the same vein, when his partner joking slapped his face (lightly) he nearly passed out when all the blood in his head traveled south. So new seduction tactic for Chairon? A sloppy kiss, a slap, and then another sloppy kiss. That gets his engine running~
Gadriel is cursed with a breeding kink while also being a complete hoe. He can't keep a relationship going (because he claims he doesnt want one) but in the heat of a good fuck, sometimes he thinks about knocking his partner up and that usually pulls him over the edge. Now, does he want kids? Maybe. He secretly fears being just like his dad, so who knows. But he sees the family Titus has built for himself, and he can't hide his envy. But he does think 7 kids is a bit overboard.
One time at a Titus family barbecue, Gadriel got real close to seeing the pearly gates after he had one-too-many drinks and seeing Missus Titus pregnant for the seventh time, nudging the veteran while motioning to his wife, and jokingly saying: "Good to know it still works."
He had to dodge a spatula to the face before quickly explaining he meant Titus' dick, not his wife's uterus. Titus still didn't find it funny... and Gadriel no longer drinks on an empty stomach.

Would you please write some headcanons about the relationships of MODERN AU Chairon and Gadriel? I love what the previous anons, who talked about this, did with old man, malewife Titus but what if our other two boys also had a wifey/girlfriendy waiting for them at home and even a lil kiddo? :3
Oh boy oh boy Anon you've opened up the flood gates. I tried to keep myself contained but now...NOW IMA START COOKIN-
Chairon: I headcannon him to be about 10 years or so younger than Titus, so probably mid forties. Like previous anons have mentioned, he is probably a teacher, I'm leaning more professor rather than grade-school teacher tho.
He's an artistic type, if he is a professor it would probably be in the humanities. Something related to language arts or history, students like him because he's understanding and a pretty flexible guy when it comes to assignments. But he's a challenging teacher to have because he doesn't believe in simple answers. He's that professor who will smirk and ask you "why?" after you answer, getting you to be more and more specific to the point of absurdity. He wants his students to learn to work through uncomfortable topics and ideas.
He always wanted kids of his own, but things didn't line up in place for him to have them. He has a long-term girlfriend who he met while earning his Master's, he plans on proposing soon but is waiting for that perfect moment, he brings the ring with him on outings but the timing has just felt off in the past. He'll know it when he sees it!
As a partner, Chairon is shy with public displays of affection. He enjoys it! But he becomes a blushing mess at the same time. He will match his girl's outfits not just because it makes her happy, but because he enjoys showing off a little as well. He owns a really nice penthouse in the center of the city, and while he loves nature, he much prefers being within walking distance of everything he needs.
He is a cuddler, but it's to the detriment of his partner as there have been a handful of times where he's ended up crushing her under his weight.
Being a veteran himself, Chairon does suffer from PTSD. During his service, he nearly lost his life to several men who had double crossed his team, he ended up losing several good men to that betrayel. Because of that, if he sees someone who resembles those men, he can end up having very vivid flashbacks of when his unit had been nearly wiped out. It's only happened a few times but they are incredibly crippling and Chairon ends up being reclusive for several days, barely eating/bathing/sleeping. It's only been through intensive therapy in the last few years that have lessened the symptoms.
Gadriel: Early to mid-thrities. Works as a mechanic. Thought about owning a bike at one point. He wanted a racing mortorcycle like a Kawasaki originally, but they don't make them large enough for guys his size. Bro can't keep a job to save his life, the longest he lasted for one gig was 2 years and it was only because he didn't come in hammered every morning like his coworkers. He works out in his own garage-turned-gym.
Was a Sargeant in the military, he was actually one of the youngest to be promoted and had a promising career ahead of him but he was honorably discharged after too many back-to-back injuries he sustained while in service. It ranged from a torn ACL, fractured pelvis and collar bone, to a bullet that was lodged mere centimeters from his spine. The military was the only thing that made sense to him. He had an unstable childhood and adolescence, and the military gave him the structure he needed. His discharge, though honorable, was a tough pill to swallow.
Gadriel is a handyman, and he can macgyver almost anything. The tragedy of him (according to Titus) is he is an incredibly bright man but he let's his emotions get in the way of his progress.
Gadriel is aware of his good looks and is a known womanizer. He usually goes for the one night stand or the occasional friends with beneifts-only he doesn't really do friends either. Chairon is his buddy only because he can't shake the guy. Titus isn't his friend but he respects the man too much to completely ghost him. He won't admit it, but he kindve idolizes Titus, with him being Special Forces and from what few details he's gathered, he knows the man has seen some shit. He also envies Chairon for the stable life he's built.
Titus has taken him under his wing in multiple ways but Gadriel routinely brushes him off. He doesn't need help from some old man he's fine the way he is. He does enjoy Titus' wife's cooking however and even after an argument will still stay long enough for dinner and getting some leftovers. Titus' eldest daughter has a crush on him, which Gadriel is aware of but simply ignores for two reasons: one, she's too young for him, he'd rather shoot himself in the foot than talk to someone right out of high-school, and two; he knows Titus can rip his head from his shoulders through sheer strength alone and he'd rather not risk angering the old buck.
Gadriel doesn't do true-love and doesn't believe in it. But if he ever did meet that person who made his heart pitter-patter? He would fall fast and hard. He will not know how to be normal, he will make an absolute fool of himself, stumbling over words and his own two feet. He doesn't believe that'll ever happen though haha! Unless...?
MODERN AU Titus making a birthday cake for his 14th kid
That man would 100% learn to make a cake for his kiddos. I could see him calling up his buddy Chairon tho to help him along, he knows that man can make a mean cake. Gadriel ends up coming too because if he gets wind of sweet treats, he's tagging along damnit! Cue three massive middle aged men arguing and cussing over a pathetic looking pink cake with messily scribbled writing on top.
Chairon: You didn't whip the buttercream frosting long enough, Titus! That's why your crumb coat is shit!
Titus: I followed your instructions! If we had just used the pre-made stuff this wouldn't have been a bloody problem!

Titus: A 53-year-old dad with 7 biological kids under his belt and several troubled children or young adults which he helps out; they aren't his adopted children (one could still say otherwise because he is still very involved), but he tries to help at the local orphanage. He served in the army from when he was 16 since he was 41, when he quit after a nervous breakdown. He developed severe PTSD since he was 37, trying his best to deal with it until his mind failed him. Now, as an old man, some of his symptoms diminished with time but he still has it and it affects his mental health. He wouldn't tell anybody about that panick attack he had last week, no one. He met future Mrs. Titus in his early 20s and he fell madly in love. They send several letters throughout his deployments. He is as in love with her as in the day he married her, 3 decades ago. He often jokes that, in his younger days, his favourite coping mechanism to his PTSD was to have babies. Absolute sex fiend, almost all of his kids were conceived right after coming from deployment. Even if wifey is wearing a potato sack, he will have raging boner.
His eldest child is 28-years-old while his youngest is 15. He is a tall boi, with 240 pounds of muscles and fat. However, as he settled into the role of stay-at-home husband since his retirement, he formed a super comfy dad bod. When his kids were younger, they loved to sleep on his chest. When wifey comes from work, he's all over her :3
Chairon: a 34-year-old bookworm and librarian in the city's library. He is, unfortunately, as single as a pringle and he laments this everyday on his life. Since his childhood, he was the nerdy type of kid that was obsessed with dinosaurs and sci-fi. He adores anything nerdy and when somebody even mentions something in relation to one of his interests, he'll yapp for hours and hours. When he was in school, his favourite subject was history. He really wanted to become a historian but, persuaded by his parents, he joined the army at 18. He fairly liked his time in the army but he still left it as soon as possible upon his father's death. Since then, he had so many jobs revolving his interests. His two newest were when he was a kindergarten teacher and his current one. From 32 to 35, he worked at a small kindergarten where the kids absolutely adored him. Dressed always in a sweater with a shirt underneath it, he would read stories with way too much enthusiasm and would be immensely gentle and caring to the children. He met Titus when he was bringing his kids to the kindergarten. Chairon once dated a momma from there, however she broke up with him when she had to move countries. For a year now, he works at the library. BIG BOY!! The tallest and also the chunkiest. Has an build-in gym in his house, he's embarrassed to go to a public one as he is known as the "book guy".
Gadriel: 39-year-old mechanic. As a child, he was a delinquent. He had anger issues and was frustrated very quickly and always out of nothing. This was the outcome of familial issues. He knows Chairon since university and, despite the teachers trying to advising good boy Chairon to not hang out with Gadriel, they still were good, good friends. Serial womanizer since young adulthood, ladies (us) flock to him but he always acts cool and ignorant to them. I think his type would be actually quiet, nerdy girls lmao. Joined the army, with Chairon, around the same time. Throughout his time of service, he learnt discipline and changed into a stoic, stern man but his anger issues still persisted. He reached the rank of Sergeant, even serving under Titus, meeting him and befriending through this. Titus became a kind of paternal figure to Gadriel. At the end of the day, at 31, he left the army out of his own desires. He changed jobs almost weekly, his bosses firing him for his mean-spirited and argumentative nature. His love life isn't as better, he dated a new person everyday and was all around miserable. His longest relationship at the time was 2 months long. Moved with his grandma because she is the only relative of his whom he actually likes. His grandma tried to set him with one of her friend's daughters, but both politely declining. After getting better mentally, he moved back and got his job as a mechanic, combining his interest in automatic and mechanical physics and motorbikes. He rekindled with his old friend Chairon and his former Captain Titus. Out of Chairon's own accord, Gadriel began to read some novels. He likes fantasy and sci-fi. He visits the Titus' household whenever he can, but when he does, it's one of his best days. Began to cook and thought to post it on the internet - people ramble on how pwetty he is (´∩｡• ᵕ •｡∩`). He is a big boy too and struggles to find himself clothes. He taught himself to knit and sew so to make his own unbelievably large clothing. Has a dog with a ridiculously big government name but he nicknames it "Mitty".

I already have a headcannon sheet halfway done for Titus giving more detail, and I'm borrowing (stealing) some of these ideas.
Titus: Retired military veteran. I headcanon him being in his late 40s to early 50s. Been married to his wife for 27 years and has a gazillion kids - wife is the happiest woman alive. Is a huge dude, AT LEAST 6'9, and has a gym built in the house because his kids adore him and are very clingy. Has no social media presence but the type of dude to be filmed so people could oggle him
Chairon: Librarian, who served in the army. The youngest (in my opinion), early-to-mid 30s. He is also huge, he is at minimum 6'5, and is significantly chunkier than the others. Has had lots of jobs since being in the military, once was a kindergarten teacher and he met Titus through that. He really likes literature, physics, astronomy and guns. Has an account on some random ass social media where he rants about his favourite novels, the physics of the universe and the historical and mechanical traits about various guns. All the comments don't take him seriously and are all "Whatever you say, beautiful".
Gadriel: 9-5-er, I can't think of his job. He is in his late 30s, pushing 40. He is huge as well and goes to the gym almost daily. He posts on social media often, only followed by his friends and family. Because he loved to cook, he began posting short videos about his cooking recipes. Without him knowing, he become a sensation overnight because of how hot he is. Gets comments and dms everyday talking about that. He finds absolutely hilarious
Not me envying some non-existent wife 😭 some of my own add-ons: Titus is also a disillusioned war veteran. He doesn't mention his past military service and would prefer to not be defined by it. Keeps in contact with fellow squad mates from that period but only because he feels he owes it to them. His Dress Uniform is buried somewhere deep in the attic collecting dust. He's worked on all kinds of heavy labor jobs from off-shore oil rigs to Logging and even was a Farm hand at one point. Despite having multiple kids of his own, he will unoffically adopt troubled teens and young adults and be a father figure to them.
Chairon is a milf magnet. He's embarrassed to admit it, but mom's are attracted to him like bears are to honey. He's just too much of a soft spoken gentlemen and he gets along well with kids of any age. Secretly an artistic type and even spins his own clay pots on his off-time. Also, don't tell anyone, but he joined a woman-majority book club and has a soft spot for romance novels. Is proud of his military service and doesn't quite understand why Titus refuses to discuss his own, but respects the man's privacy.
Gadriel is the bad boy with a secret heart of gold but here's the twist- no one really buys the bad boy act. Bro works as a car mechanic but is always changing shops cause he always ends up fighting the owner over something minor. Grannies love him and he doesn't know why. He can't make a relationship stick but secretly yearns for a house with a picket fence dream. Him and Titus argue a lot because Gadriel has daddy issues and doesn't like it when the old man tries to take him under his wing, he does like Titus' wife's cooking tho so he's always showing up for dinner, it's sometimes awkward.
