She let out a shaky breath and shook her head. “I’m sorry, but this isn’t up for debate, Remus. I’m going.”
Remus didn’t argue any more, but gave a beleaguered nod.
lucindaleonoratalkalot:
“Remus, he’s never going to find him. And I know him better than anyone.”
“And maybe he’ll just come back on his own,” Remus pointed out.
lucindaleonoratalkalot:
Putting where she was going in his maps, she also shared her location with him. “Now you’ll know where I am, okay? Just… please don’t come unless I ask you to.”
“Luce...” he grimaced, “Why can’t you just wait? It’s not safe.”
lucindaleonoratalkalot:
“I love you, Remus – but if he’s spiraling, I need to go on my own,” she shook her head. “Here, give me your phone.”
“I...” Remus hesitated, but handed over his phone after a moment.
lucindaleonoratalkalot:
“Because Sirius is not the person who’s going to get him here,” she shook her head. “And if he is where I think he is… he’d never forgive me if I let Sirius go there. It’s our place.” She paused. “He’s my husband, Remus.”
“Well he hasn’t exactly been a good one, Luce,” Remus pointed out. “Just wait, okay? I can go with you when Sirius gets back.”
lucindaleonoratalkalot:
Lucinda didn’t say anything for a moment, and then shook her head. “I think I know where he could be. Just – get Sirius to come back, and watch the twins for me. Please?”
“Where is it? Why can’t Sirius just go and find him, Luce? I don’t want you out there on your own.”
lucindaleonoratalkalot:
“He’s not picking up from you either?” She asked. “What’s Sirius going to do if he finds him? He won’t come back here with him. No – I have to go, that’s what makes the most sense.”
“Then Sirius will call us and you can go and meet him. But where are you going to look right now that Sirius hasn’t already looked?”
lucindaleonoratalkalot:
“He’s clearly not in the right state of mind right now,” she shook her head. “And we both know I’m much more likely to find him than Sirius is.”
“And if Sirius comes back without him, then we can go and look. But it’s pointless to go right now,” he shook his head.
lucindaleonoratalkalot:
“He shouldn’t be out on his own – Sirius never should have let him leave,” Lucinda shook her head.
“Sirius couldn’t have known he’d run to the apparition line. That’s mental,” Remus defended.
lucindaleonoratalkalot:
“If he hasn’t found him yet, then I am going out there. I have a much better chance of finding him than Sirius does.”
“Luce, you know it’s not a good idea to go out there by yourself. Please just wait until Padfoot gets back.”
lucindaleonoratalkalot:
“Remus, call him,” she said again, leaving the room for a moment only to return with the bag she used to stow her wand and other small trinkets.
“Luce, you can’t go out there too. They’ll be back soon, just wait,” Remus called after her as she left the room. Pulling out his phone, he dialed Sirius and waited for him to pick up.”
lucindaleonoratalkalot:
“Call him,” she said firmly, knowing if she did Sirius wouldn’t pick up.
“Luce... He’s fine, Sirius already went to all of the apothecaries and let them know not to sell him anything if he shows up. They’ll be back soon,” Remus tried to assure her.
lucindaleonoratalkalot:
“You said it’s been hours and he hasn’t found him yet? Where’s Sirius?”
“I don’t think so, no,” Remus replied, “He said he’d be back soon.”
lucindaleonoratalkalot:
“What?”
“Regulus apparently went for a run and Sirius didn’t think he would be able to make it to the apparition line but he did,” Remus sighed. “So when he triggered the boundary wards, Sirius went after him.”
lucindaleonoratalkalot:
“Why are neither of them picking up the phone?” She asked. “Where did they go, Remus?”
“I don’t know,” Remus admitted after a few moments, “They got into it here and then Regulus ran off and Sirius went after him.”
lucindaleonoratalkalot:
“How long have they been gone?” She asked, pulling out her phone to call Regulus, although it immediately shot to voicemail.
“A few hours,” Remus sighed, “Luce, it’s fine. They’ll be back soon.”
lucindaleonoratalkalot:
“What?” She blanched, shaking her head. “Why would they be in London – he’s not supposed to leave.”
“It wasn’t really planned,” Remus muttered.
