3/3, maybe easier to combine all the pics into one post? Innocent names/faces have been blocked out.
Katt has owned the corn snake for roughly a month and it has escaped several times (1 in the car, multiple times in apartment) until it got into one of her rats’ cages and was killed by her rat samantha. Her bf asked me for caging advice, and when he told her a latching tub would be good at preventing escapes she dismissed him. i only knew afterwards when she told me he was “stupid and had no idea what he was talking about.” She refused to change her husbandry and is absolutely careless when it comes to caring for and understanding reptiles. Highly recommend avoiding her at all costs.
Im not posting the rodent neglect/possible abuse bc this is a reptiblr blog, but might post anonymously on a side blog if rodentblrs want to help
Does this blog accept "do not sell to" callouts? This person afaik is not on tumblr but i want to warn anyone here who might sell/rehome/adopt out reptiles to not give their animals to her. she is extremely careless, does not accept criticism on her care, and seriously believes snakes LOVE being handled. she has also killed multiple mice and rats through negligence and possibly abuse
if you can provide proof of your claims, then yes. if there is no substantial proof then we do not post them.
I get a visceral reaction whenever I see anyone with a Chinese water dragon. Not many people can fit or afford a 6ft H x 3ft W x 4ft L (MINIMUM!) cage for their CWD, let alone provide good UVB and lighting. I've seen many CWDs with smashed faces from panicking and running into the walls of their tiny tanks, severe MBD, dull grey green coloration, and snapped toes and spikes. They're the smaller green iguanas of the pet trade and it hurts to see them go to so many ignorant and neglectful homes.
Exotic venom is still stealing and reposting pics with no source, and is still an ass. Just fyi
that'd be because wmmss primarily breeds and works with axanthics. most people typically post pics of the morphs they work with. what a concept. LMAO god get some real salt. not all of us steal pictures of snakes that aren't ours and repost them for notes.
Wheremyscaleslither honestly sounds super pretentious. I checked out the Facebook group they’re in and all they do is post pictures of their axanthics. It gets boring after awhile
Youre ducking snakes cant love you. They literally cannot produce the brain chemicals to do so. Stop thinking that your snake is roaming its tank because it misses you and fix your hecking husbandry
Whoa whoa whoa guys, I don't think the anon's saying "Never take your pet to the vet ever." I think anon's saying "Don't take your reptile to the vet if you don't suspect anything's wrong." I don't think this applies if there are people telling someone they SHOULD bring the pet in if there's a cause for concern (like a beginner asking if their snake has a RI or just huffing). Anon means bringing in your pet for regular, scheduled appointments, like how people have checkups every x amount of time
Someone on FB: 'I can hear my recently rescued snake sigh/wheeze fairly often, what could that be?' Me: Well you should probably take them to the vet to check that out, especially since they're a rescue-- Facebookers: I can't believe people are telling them to take their snake to vet for a normal bodily function!!!
Why are people taking their reptiles in for wellness checks?? They're not dogs? Or cats? Why risk exposing them to a place full of sick animals? Don't drag them to the vet's unless they NEED it. The only reason why these animals aren't dying is bc they're hardier species. You do that to a more sensitive herp and you're guaranteeing them a death from immunosuppressive stress.
The most humane way to euthanize a snake is cranial destruction, end of story. CO2 gassing is ineffective bc of how different reptile respiration is from mammals and injections don't always go well esp for the bigger snakes. Vets won't do CD because it's not allowed and most likely not "clean" looking enough.
SHOUT OUT TO MYSELF FOR ACCIDENTALLY GIVING A SMALL ADULT RAT TO A 3 MONTH OLD SNAKE. EVERYONE IS FINE BUT TALK ABOUT A FUCKING HEART ATTACK. DON'T ZONE OUT WHEN FEEDING YOUR SNAKES, KIDS.
People like theexoticvet are one of the biggest reasons good reptile owners get lumped with the bad. This wasn't the first time they were corrected too. We can denounce the bad (like BHB) in our the hobby all we want but it usually comes down to ignorant "experts" like theexoticvet using their wider platform and power advantage to shut us down.
Theexoticvet should stop talking about reptiles altogether. It's clear they have to valuable or accurate experience with reptiles and are doing more harm than good for the community.
at the 'who the fuck are these leo breeders' anon: most of reptiblr bitch about people in fb groups to be honest
