[ ₪ ] -- He didn’t waste a single moment; almost immediately, he was crouched down so he would be almost eye level with the child to show he was there and willing to offer comfort, albeit as reserved as it may seem coming from a being such as him.

Wham rested his arms on his knees and slowly held a hand out, palm facing upward, showing he was more than willing to let him take it if he needed something to hold onto. Concern that wasn’t yet fully shown softened the usual observant, steeled look in emerald eyes as he gazed down at the small boy.

“What did you hear?” he asked in a low, coaxing but gentle voice.

[ ₪ ] -- It seemed to him humans were much more careless than they had ever been beforehand, or perhaps his contact with them had been so limited he had not been made aware of exactly how their species was. Either way, he found this highly...well, to put it frankly, unimpressive.

“I’m quite aware of my own height. Your kind only lacks in most physical departments.” His voice wasn’t quite hostile, but neither was it welcoming as there was nothing here to further this.

[ ₪ ] -- To say he knew the exact reasons for choosing to take this route from a seclusion he’d chosen to keep himself in for the time being into an even deeper one, judging from the lack of signs of any type of civilization that would have marked the valley below or lush mountainside, would be a bluff. But he didn’t do so without reason, as he was certain this would be worth the time if what he was so steadily sensing saturating the very air being breathed in and out was as strong as he felt it now despite the sizable distance.

Footsteps fell in a rhythm of their own, though hardly made a sound as he would much rather keep his presence to himself for the here and now. Though he was more than certain there was nothing that even closely resembled a threat of any kind, his keen, enhanced senses told him the area was not devoid of other life beyond animals’. He wasn’t so closed off to all but himself as to think an encounter wasn’t possible, though he in no way anticipated it in a way that he would want it to happen. This was simply to sate a peculiar curiosity that had risen as soon as this odd power source tugged at his very conscious. Its magnitude resembled that of his elder he had served under, though that was the only familiarity. His sole reason in seeing for himself what caused it was the fact that in his return to modern times, he knew next to nothing about the sorts of inhabitants the earth had now-- and no mortal contained this much power. Of this he was certain.

Now he found himself slowing, almost stilling, as he became more than just acutely aware that there was another close by. No, close by would be putting it lightly. Wham blinked slowly, growing accustomed to the feeling of an unseen other gazing under the assumption he wouldn’t be able to find them. Aquamarine eyes flashed with a very faint ire at the thought, though became guarded once more as their own gaze settled on the general area he was certain the one who was openly staring was concealed in. A slight tenseness he hadn’t acknowledge left his body almost immediately as he strode forward again, this time closer to whoever there might be.

“I’m aware you are there; it was inane of you to believe you could successfully hide.” Although he couldn’t very well blame whoever he was addressing for trying to do so.

[ ₪ ] -- Aquamarine eyes opened none too slowly at the telltall sounds and subtle shifts in the air that signaled another presence-- one that was not a quite familiar one, but not one he was totally a stranger to. Though the circumstance around that was anything but a friendly one, he could tell. It was apparent just by the way footsteps fell that this ‘chance’ meeting was perhaps meant.

Even so, concern wasn’t immediate. He knew of his own capacities and understanding more than well enough. The one at fault was the one walking in towards a certain outcome that could very well do him in.

“Come no further than you already are, unless you intend to let your actions talk for you.” His voice saturated the air with a tense atmosphere on baritone waves. “What might you hope to accomplish by coming here?” He had his guesses, of course.

The first time it came to his mind was to no cause a scene in the middle of all the civilians around , he knew that , while the Speedwagon foundation will take care of the damage and create a fake story , they couldn’t sacrifice any normal humans in the process to stop them.

Behind a wall Caesar hide and waited to see who of the three was walking around here. if he could stop him , or even better find where they were hiding , they would have a chance to stop them. “ ……C'mon, I know you are near…”

[ ₪ ] -- His intuition had not failed him-- no surprise, but he didn’t waste a moment on self satisfaction. All he gave was a short exhale and a moment to let his eyes flutter closed, the hint of a knowing smirk playing along his lips but never quite forming. He could practically hear the animosity in the Hamon warrior’s voice, an incredibly deep-ridden one that would perhaps serve him better if he knew how to put it to good use. This would not hold much promise, but humans like him tended to be a bit unpredictable at times; although there was still his own ingenuity to take into consideration. The scales were largely out of proportion here.

Without need to conceal himself further, the pillarman emerged from the more shrouding shadows, aquamarine eyes glinting in the dim lighting. His features were largely hidden by the array of shadows overlapping and swallowing the street and whoever happened to be walking along it, but the magnitude his presence carried was beyond undeniable.

“Do you intend to fight me as you are? If that is the case, you have no hopes of prevailing.”

Giornoâs inability to speak gradually withered, even if it was sheer panic driving him to open his mouth ; the risks he subconsciously internalized causing such feelings, even if he was too young for such logical conduct. He simply was familiar with fear that originated from certain actions, the consequences so obviously scarred into his mind. Whenever he spoke of the damaging, harmful punishment his step-Father pushed upon him to anyone, it would eventually come to reach him â his suffering would multiply, him refraining from giving him food or forbidding him to play with his own toys. Oft he would take them away, or in rare cases, destroy them. But that was only if Giorno initiated one of his rage episodes ( he always did, no matter what ).

Tears mattered not, and neither did his health ; as long as his step-Fatherâs rage came undone. He wished for it to stop, always asking for his Mother, but his cries would be ignored or go unnoticed. He wasnât sure what hurt more. His apparent invisibility, or how the only few times he was acknowledged it was to be hurt. A whine escaped the child, his sobbing momentarily stopping ( even if difficult ) in order to have him speak, to allow himself to tell a story â- albeit nothing but slow.

â h-he hurt me. â It wasnât simple to reveal his heart, to speak about such terrible things, but he had little options. And little time, presumably. He was A COWARD, shaking with fear whenever he detected even a hint of rage behind familiar eyes ( or so he was told ). â heâsâ coming to get me. â Tears once more streamed down already wet cheeks, them red in distress, â iâm scaredâ¦ â

[ ₪ ] -- Morals conflicted with the typical apathy felt towards mortals, particularly humans, as this encounter dragged on. With each passing moment it was getting more difficult to turn a blind eye and step away from what had never been his business to begin with. Although any hint of concern that he might have begun to feel wasn’t shown physically in any way-- except, perhaps, for the way his eyebrows began to furrow together --he continued with his more or less patient silence.

He was not surprised or displeased when it took a few minutes longer than he would have initially expected. The child was beyond distraught, and there was little to be done about it than offer a silence waiting to be filled. Beyond that, he still questioned if he should step into the situation further. He did, however, feel a sliver of enmity and perhaps even disgust towards whoever would so willingly cause so much apparent harm to an innocent child.

The boy’s words only confirmed what was already being conveyed through his flighty, unpredictable actions and reactions. Yet again, the pillarman’s gaze softened almost imperceptibly. Certainly the actions of a human towards their offspring were no concern of his. But to say he didn’t find this to be completely against his own code.....

“Try to answer clearly, child. Tell me who.”

[ ₪ ] -- Further conversation really hadn’t been necessary, although it had quickly become apparent not just from this encounter alone but several others that humans-- or really, the inhabitants of the earth in general --had become much less cautious and increasingly more chatty. Though certainly slightly more tolerant than his elders, that didn’t mean he was prone to interest.

“It’s simply unwise for a mortal to come so close to what they don’t know of.” There was no concern behind his words, only the statement as it was. Aquamarine eyes opened to glance over once before he continued, “Your intention wouldn’t have mattered if it triggered anything by coming near my shadow. You’re hardly anything at all and would have been destroyed in moments.” Again, there was no concern, but he didn’t use violence without even the barest reason-- it was unfit for a warrior to do so.
