you have to forgive the printer because it's one of the most machine-ass machines we interact with on a day to day basis. that thing says kerchunk. hardly anything says kerchunk these days. you can't get mad at her when she kerchunks up a little.
Crazy that tech has gotten so bad that we're doing printer forgiveness now
Hey dude. Couldn't help but notice that the peaceful backing music cut out when you fixed me with a glare uncharacteristic of the traits we've seen you display so far. What was that all about.
I have reached "Equinox" and I cannot state enough how much I have been eager to watch this episode again. For this binge I've talked about episodes in TOS and SNW reflecting to this for me. And I could get all into that again, but overall I just love that this is a point where hope for the crew is actually tangible.
It is physically before them. Not just a glimmer of potential of maybe they could manage to actually do this one thing finally. No, they have a Starfleet ship before them. They have its Captain and crew. They are not alone. Going six years into this journey and finally, finally they have someone they can be certain is not out to get them. Someone at their side.
All for the truth to come unfolding around them and that hope is ripped away because this ship .... Isn't like them. It sunk into the darkness, rather than clung to the light of hope. And while the crew clings to doing their job and facing this disappointment once more .... Janeway who had found an equal, a fellow Captain, someone who would carry the burden on their shoulders as she does (no matter how much Tuvok or Chakotay offer to help SHE is the authority. She is where it stops and nothing is above her - Equinox was a savior from that with Ransom, she had someone else to finally share it with, even if one of them would still be the "fleet captain" between them it's that glimmer and flicker that's more than it be for the others).
Just .... The fact that the crew can rely on each other and turn to each other even in this episode but when the hope is torn away Janeway can't. It's even in the episode itself "can't pull rank on you Captain". Her snapping makes so much sense to me for this episode. Still don't get Chakotay and Tuvok not seeing it coming but I imagine they probably had a "nothing we've not been through" reasoning and didn't realize the depth of it but still
you dont get how refreshing anne of green gables is like yes sometimes you really must imagine there are dryads combing their hair in the woods and little girls in the cupboard who love you and places called the lake of shining waters and lovers lane and be glad you live in a world where there are october’s and be full of love and wonder and whimsy and imagination
Lol.
If you found out from this post in the first few minutes it was up, you might've heard earlier than she did.
Chakotay to Janeway in Equinox: "I know you tend to hold grudges," referring to Ransom.
Janeway, hours later, when he disobeyed and yelled at her:
shout out to leslie being in the diamond dogs because otherwise it would be three of the most mentally unstable men giving eachother life advice
i’ve warmed up significantly towards the concept of small talk ever since i learned that its sole purpose is to make friendly noises.
as long as you smile and nod, people are satisfied. it’s just to show that you are nice and there with good intentions. we’re small in a big world and have to rely on other people to be decent to us. so we do our little human dance to each other to say, “i’m not here to hurt you. here’s something we have in common, like the weather or sports or itchy sweaters, so we both know we’re on the same team. we both agree on a basic fact, like that it is rainy or that being itchy is uncomfortable, and this proves we can get along. i’m being light-hearted and non-threatening right now.”
small talk isn’t to get to know a person. it’s just a greeting to affirm you’re buddies in the universe.
i am motivated by wanting the other person to know i am friendly, so i have gotten pretty decent at small talk when i used to hate it.
the problem with the gay hockey show is that the acting is great, the lighting is great, the music and costuming are great, the care taken is incredible, but you can't recommend it to normal people without sounding like a pervert
I can't quite explain it, but Clue (1985), The Princess Bride (1987), Galaxy Quest (1999), and Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (2023) are all the same genre
They aren't a spoof (roast) or a love letter (tribute), but a best man's speech; an expression of love with a gentle ribbing on ocassion.
having anxiety is like being given permanent unwanted custody of a halter arabian. like okay buddy is it panic time again. cool you probably need more exercise and an apple and then maybe you'll calm down.
taking my stupid walks for my stupid mental health with my stupid hypervigilant brain horse
thoroughly enjoying the notes on this post because it's equal parts people with anxiety going "yeah that's what it's like" and people with arabians going "yeah that's what they're like"
im once again feeling totally normal about father francis mulcahy. hes an ex-boxer. he consoles kids when theyre dying. he has a temper. he has one regular at his mass every sunday. he goes to the black market for medicine and lies about it to the colonel. he gets in on hawkeye's jokes. he loves his sister and wants her to be happy. he performed an emergency tracheotomy while being guided through a poorly signalled radio. he indirectly lies to his closest friends about being deaf so they wont worry about him. he crams himself in a jeep with like 20 women because hawkeye asked him to. he learns how to perform a bris by contacting a rabbi on a navy ship for a soldier's son. he gets drunk before a mass about alcohol abstinence because he's so nervous about speaking in front of an audience. he sends himself to the front line against orders because he feels useless and wants to make a difference. he wins almost every poker game he plays so he can send the money to the orphanage. he feels like he does nothing around camp when he's actually the biggest support for everyone there. im normal about him i promise
Richard Bashir forcing his young child to go through dangerous , life-altering, illegal genetic procedures to make him smarter and then mockingly saying shit like "Oh he thinks he's so much smarter and better than us." I think Richard Bashir should be killed with a gun.
season 2 of atla is so good because you’ll watch an episode and it’ll be like -
A plot: aang learns to stand his ground in order to begin earth bending
B plot: zuko screams at god to strike him down with lightning
C plot: sokka is stuck in a hole
