like if you really wanna get into the weeds about it. Yes, SOME indigenous people BETRAY THEIR INTERESTS AS INDIGENOUS PEOPLE and EMBRACE US IMPERIALISM OUT OF SELF-INTEREST. This is true of any oppressed group, there will always be traitors who work against their class interests for the sake of short-term personal gain. This does NOT mean Native Americans AS A CLASS benefit from US Imperialism. In fact, if you don't have rocks for brains, it's very obvious that the opposite is true. what do you think of able bodied people using "crippling" [pt: crippling] as a descriptor. probably an obvious question but i need to know i'm not being irrational over it, i'm getting so pissed off at my mutuals over reblogging posts that do this. adding "ing" to a slur doesn't change the fact it's a slur yeah??

"crippling depression" and what exactly does "crippling" mean in this context? well I'd wager a bet it's being used to mean "disabling" so it's still the same word with the same meaning, just a different suffix. it's comparing something to a physical disability. it's saying "this is like a physical disability" and it's not just saying "this is like a physical disability" it's saying "this is like a cripple"

there are so many alternative words to use (debilitating, disabling, severe, incapacitating, etc......) but people cling to "crippling" like they'll literally die if they don't call their generalized anxiety disorder "crippling." it's because they don't perceive the oppression of physically disabled people as being real. they see us as whiny and think we're exaggerating so using slurs is "fine" and we're just making a big deal over a "harmless" word.

I don't trust any ablebodied person who insists on calling things "crippling."
