âIf youâre feeling panicky, you know you can always come and see me for awhile. Or Barbs,â he began. âMight calm you if you see a familiar face, you know ⊠thatâs not your family.â Gabriel could understand the way Rhea had felt, it wasnât as if they had a choice about being here. Even if they wanted to leave, there wasnât a possible exit plan. âNice? Maybe the surroundings, but everything elseâŠâ he scoffed, shaking his head. âI think the people here are idiots. Well, most of them. Theyâre treating this place like its a vacation, and forgetting the fact that people want usâŠâ Was dead an appropriate word, or even the right word? âinjured, I guess.â
âThank you, that really means a lot.â As much as Rhea chose to spend time alone, she did need to see familiar faces. Maybe it was better to reach out to people sometimes-- and maybe she wasnât being a bother to other people. âI think the ocean is nice...â she mumbled, looking away for a split second. âIt calms me down,â she added. âI donât know, I think theyâre scared. Maybe theyâre using the island as a distraction. Instead of worrying about whatâs gonna happen.â Rhea liked to run away from her problems, but talking about it helped. âBecause if someone wants to hurt us, thatâs kinda hard to forget. I canât stop thinking about it.âÂ
