A fun thing about Dawnguard is how a lot of the key characters in the questline, regardless of faction, are driven by the same all-consuming hatred. Isran doesn't do what he does to save people, he kills vampires because he hates them and will sacrifice anything or anyone to further this goal. Valerica is revealed to have hidden her daughter away less to protect her but to disgrace her ex-husband and his ambitions because, again, her hatred of Harkon comes before everything else. Vyrthur writes a fucking elder scroll about killing the sun because he's so enraged by his abandonment by Auri-El upon succumbing to vampirism.

And in the midst of it, there's you and this girl who has spent her life in agonizing loneliness. And you get to ask if she's okay

Can't find it now but I have read somewhere that Azura didn't curse the Chimer, she cursed the Tribunal for killing her champion--changed the Chimer to the Dunmer so that the Almsivi would look to the people and always see her face. Which is very Mother of her and I love her.
