CERN is a fake art project. None of those machines do anything. They brought out the store in wires and aluminum foil, but none of it has a purpose. Just shit plugged in everywhere.

Probably from some Skeksis visionary artist they had available, one that specialized in industrial art but whose works weren't widely known. All of their art was probably scrubbed from the archives and this is what they were reassigned to.

The hoax is winding down too. Their gift shop sucks now. They wanted "NASA without the spectacle" but it didn't take.

I love machines that do nothing, that exist simply for the sake of existing, whose beauty transcends utility. It becomes the child of passion, of nothing more than the Will To Create. It becomes art in its most undeniable form. (Not specifically the case for hoaxes but I don't discriminate the gizmos! They're still cute)
