Someone Save Angels Twitter
Well...the past two weeks have been an absolute shit show. No, I'm not talking about a literal show about poop but the way my Twitter feed has been, it's been practically that. The Hamilton situation sucked. It sucked from the very beginning and the way it concluded sucked even more. I'm not saying Hamilton sucked as a person, that's entirely up to you, but the way everything went down was just sour. Here's a not so quick timeline:Â
We sign Hamilton. Half of you love it. Half of you hate it because $$$$. I'm indifferent so I made this.
Hamilton struggles. Half of you love that he's struggling. Half of you hate that he's struggling. At this point I'm burning my couch because Freri can't throw a god damn strike.Â
Hamilton goes 0-infinity in the '14 playoffs. Half of you want him gone. Half of you think he's still got it. I'm just sitting in awe as a stadium boo's someone on our own team (Editors note: Yes I do hate myself for saying OUR TEAM even though I'm not in uniform).Â
Hamilton relapses. Half of you want the guy gone/dead/crucified (not trying to be poetic here. Someone literally tweeted "This guy needs to be crucified). Half of you want to give him the benefit of the doubt. I'm just figuring out the new quote RT system.Â
Moreno/Carpino say unprofessional comments about the situation. Half of you agree. Half of you hate upper management/team for not supporting Josh. I start to side with the later. Oh shit, an opinion starts to form. Trade to Rangers becomes official.Â
For the first time in God knows how long, Angels Twitter loses its collective shit. Twitter/blog anarchy happens. This is Angel Fan equivalent of The Purge. Sirens are going off and everyone is writing opinions that probably should have been slept on. Including myself.Â
So here we are. We got the Halo Heaven piece that got deleted off the interwebs. Im seeing Facebook posts from other writers calling Hamilton a disgrace of a human being. I haven't seen fans get this angry since we switched from Anaheim to Los Angeles, which is an entirely different subject that needs to be addressed. I hate it. I hate what I'm reading. I hate that Angels Twitter is a shit show right now.
I'm not saying we shouldn't have opinions. Guys like Rev (Although he should’ve thought about the National Spotlight he put himself in), Chuck from Angels Win and other writers out there shouldn't post shit. What I am saying is that we are literally getting this worked up over a game. A GOD DAMN GAME. Look, I love baseball. I absolutely love the Angels. I'm so engrossed with this sport that I literally can not date anyone who doesn't appreciate the sport. You know what it's like to be a chubby version of Jimmy Fallon from Fever Pitch? It sucks. But I wouldn't change it for the world.
All of us are getting so worked up over a situation that literally does not affect us in the real world one bit, including myself. Do I have opinions on the Hamilton situation? Of course. Do I feel like I need to absolutely destroy Josh Hamilton the person or vilify Moreno and Carpino? Nah. It's not worth my time. As stupid as it is, trying to unify Angels Twitter and make it a fun place is worth my time.Â
Hamilton's era as an Angel is over. It's done. There's a heaping pile of opinion garage so let's brush ourselves off and talk about Mike Trouts smile. As you rinse the musk of disgust, let Hector Santiago's infectious fan-friendly personality guide you back to the sun. Unmute/unblock your fellow Angel fan who disagreed with you and follow the positivity of CJ Wilson. LETS GET BACK TO BEING HAPPY THAT RICHARDS IS BACK. Let's ask where we can get that Weaver Nike shirt only the players have. Let's get back to our roots...complaining about Buttercup.Â
Guys & Gals, I'm Ricardo Marquez and I want Angels Twitter to get back to what it was. A fun place. I want to look at Twitter and not cringe at the insane debates we’re all getting ourselves into. WE USED TO BE FUN! LETS GET BACK TO THAT!
P.S. Cause I'm probably gonna get asked what my opinion is, here we go. I've always supported Hamilton and wanted him to succeed. When I heard about the relapse, it sucked. I was pissed but then realized drug and alcohol addiction is an incredible disease. I've lost an uncle to his addiction and witnessed another celebrate his 12th (maybe 13th) year of sobriety. So in a way, I see my uncles in Hamilton. Really stupid to write but it's true. I could care less how he does on the field, I just hope he gets better for himself and his family. As for the "media" smearing Angels fans and calling us insensitive, well they have every right to write that. A lot of us were pretty insensitive & wrote pretty horrific shit. But just like anything else, there are bad seeds and good seeds. Hopefully we can get past this ASAP and go back to our comedic ways.
TL;DR - Both parties were wrong. Wish we could get past this. I like pizza Follow along @iBlogBetter. I clearly don't blog better...
Let's.Fucking.Go. Time to win the damn thing. #OpeningDay #OpeningSeries #Angels
Quick Photo-Tour Of DTLA
Last night, I traveled with some co-workers around the weird confines of Downtown Los Angeles. We started in Little Tokyo then worked our way down the garment district. Anyways, here are some photos I took while testing out my wireless flash unit.
AZ Spring Training/Antelope Canyon Trip
Over the weekend, Mina Park and myself traveled to the racist lovely state that is Arizona. It all kind of started with Mina saying how she wanted to go visit Antelope Canyon which is insanely gorgeous. So, one day we were like “Fuck it, let’s buy tickets” and next thing we know, we’re in a rental car driving 4 hours from a Brewers vs Cubs game to Antelope Canyon. And let me tell you...it was so damn worth it. I took about 500 photos and I’m only putting a few on here so enjoy the awesomeness that was our Arizona Trip!Â
Last two photos shot by Mina Park
I can't even...
As a shitty hobby photographer, I couldn't be more happy to get this shot. Life is kewl.
This pretty much sums up my weekend in #AZ. Baseball today, nature tomorrow. #AntelopeCanyonBound

Miles Christoper at Mrs. Fish (Concert Photos)
Last night I had the absolute pleasure of seeing my cousin Chris perform at Mrs. Fish, which is a pretty swanky fucking place. They have an aquarium in that damn place. It’s ridiculous. Anyways, he killed it per usual and I shot some photos of his set. I’m actually surprised my T2i did well considering the ISO setting was at 1600. ALL MY FELLOW PHOTOGRAPHY NERDS KNOW WHATS UP.Â
Shot some photos of my cousin @miles_christopher playing last night. Couldn't be more prouder of him. #MrsFish #mileschristopher (at Mrs. Fish)

I Asked Twitter For Help. Here's What I Wrote
I asked Twitter to give me a topic to write about and I couldn’t pick one so here we go…
@CJHannas “Fantasy Taco Bell Items … MORE WORDS”
Taco Bell is one of the greatest fast food chains this state…no…this country…nope…this world has seen. “But Ricardo, it gives me the bubble guts.” HOW BOUT YOU GROW A GOD DAMN PAIR AND ENJOY WHAT TACO BELL IS DOING! They’re looking out for your fiber intake. McDonalds is over here parading that they’ll be by your side during natural disasters and the death of your dog Skip who by the way, according to your dad, went to live on a huge 1,000 acre farm and lived a very pleasant life when the truth of it is that HE ATE A MCRIB AND DIED. MCDONALDS WILL MURDER YOUR DOG.
Anyways, Fantasy Taco Bell Items: 1. Double Loco Decker - Replace the inner-shell with a Doritos one and instead of beans, replace it with melted pepper-Jack cheese
2. The Barn Burner - You put a taquito inside a pepper-jack and beans burrito. YES I LIKE PEPPER-JACK
3. The Hole Enchilada - An enchilada with a whole in it. That’s it.
@JonDeFullerton “Why Mexicans wear jean shorts and polo shirts as bathing suit attire for the beach.”
I’ll be the first one to admit, I’m the WHITEST Mexican out there. I’m a coconut. Brown on the outside, white on the inside. However, I come from a pretty chunte (is that even how you spell it?) family. Us Mexicans do a lot of ghetto shit. For instance, we fucking LOVE alligator stuff. I don’t know why we love alligator-leather belts/shoes but we buy that shit up. To be honest, I don’t even think gators fucking exist in Mexico. I went on a tangent but they probably wear jean shorts and polo shirts because all their Looney Toon gear was in the washer at home. What I really wanna know is how come every Mexican can do that loud whistle and when I do it, it just sounds like a queef?
(NOT MY FAMILY)
@FarrisDanny “Power ranking the Top Five dog breeds.”
Too easy 1. Bulldog
2. Corgi
3. French Bulldog
4. Airbud
5. That dog Mega-Man had and/or Snoopy
@aLMa_182 "Why I need to stop being so obsessed with sports!"Â
There is absolutely nothing wrong with being obsessed with sports. Unless you're losing your job, family, friends, significant other etc etc. I'm fine with being obsessed with sports because it makes me forget about real-ass shit like I need to buy a higher Data-Rata plan on my cell phone bill because when I sext on Snapchat, it apparently EATS ALL MY DATA. I'd rather you be obsessed with sports than be obsessed with How To Get Away With Murder because OH MY GAWD THAT SHOW IS JUST TOO MUCH FOR ME. Annalise is the devil and I love her so much. AND THAT FINALE! Oh man, I can't believe it was...GOD DAMNIT I DID IT AGAIN.
This might be a regular thing so hit me up on Twitter with topics you want me to cover. YOLO. I hate myself...

RIP (kinda) MLB Fan Cave
Four years after Mike O'Hara and Ryan Wagner sailed the maiden voyage of something that evolved into something cooler and cooler every year, the MLB Fan Cave is dead. Well, at least the Cave Dweller Portion.Â
"Wait, the Fan Cave isn't dead?" WAKE UP YA DINGUS! The MLB Fan Cave lives on, for how long who the fuck knows, but the Cave Dwellers are finished. Kind of a bummer but the Fan Cave just won't be the same and here's why.
With the whole restructuring of the Commish Office, those in charge decided that the Cave Dweller portion just wasn't worth the time and effort. On top of that, the main person who was in charge of social has moved on to new projects. Quite honestly, his voice to the Fan Cave is going to be the biggest thing missing and that will probably start a domino effect on everything else. Just like the dodgers losing Josh Tucker, the Fan Cave losing Tyler Hissey is going to be huge for that brand. If I’m an MLB team and need a social media manager, I’m swooping him up. So why didn’t the Cave Dweller stuff work out? Were people not that interested in it? Should people even care about it? Depends on who you ask.Â
For me personally, I think they did everything possible to give my year (2012) a once in a lifetime opportunity. Others are probably gonna have a different opinion on their stay as a dweller, but I think for the most part, people had a generally positive experience. I mean, we got paid to literally watch baseball and just be a dork. Not much complaining there. Could they have done things differently? Yea of course. Just like any job you have things could be done differently but the thing is, Major League Baseball is a massive corporation and things need to get approved through various channels. A lot of us, no matter what year, had big ideas for a funny sketch or something we wanted to do but unfortunately got nixed. For instance, I wanted to do a sketch where Mr. Met went through a paternity test to see if he was the father of a bag of balls. And yes, Maury would be the special guest. Hilarious sketch but no way MLB would have approved it.Â
By not utilizing the Dwellers, you lose out on the bridge between fans, players and the sport itself. THE VERY THING YOU’RE TRYING TO DO! It just becomes another space for a business opportunity. I can’t tell you how many friendships were made by Dwellers and players thanks to the Fan Cave which crossed over to social. Average baseball dorks chatting with guys like David Price, Derek Holland, David Ortiz and LaTroy Hawkins on Twitter which other fans saw and lost their shit over. I remember when LaTroy and I were tweeting each other I got like 65 texts from people who were like “HOLY SHIT YOU’RE FRIENDS WITH HAWK!?”. It lets fans know that players are just like us and were easily approachable.Â
My time in the Fan Cave will always be positive mainly because of what I did in that place and the people I interacted with on a daily basis. I didn’t finish college so I used the Fan Cave as my opportunity to learn everything from photoshop, film editing, PR, marketing and social media. I was surrounded by the smartest people in sports and I did everything I could to show them that I wasn’t just a fan but someone who they could see working in baseball. Thankfully, a running joke (but probably my work ethic) of being under the wings of Jeff Heckelman (MLB PR) landed me a PR internship the following year. I’m literally the only person who went from fan to Dweller to working behind the scenes, which is neat and gives me a better perspective then most.Â
So how can they make the Fan Cave better? I don't know. Put Michael Clair in charge who writes for Cut4. That guy is hands down one of the funniest baseball writers in the world and if you gave him the keys, I'd be confident that the Fan Cave would live on. If you decide to bring the Dwellers back, use em! Practically every Dweller who was in there had some sort of special talent and was entertaining if given the chance. As far as MTV being the ones who killed it or last years Dwellers, stop it. MTV didn't kill the Cave. Last years Dwellers didn't kill the Cave. I wish I actually got to know them a little bit more because the ones I have tweeted to have been pretty cool. Plus, I'm sure their interpretation of their experience in the Cave is a WHOLE LOT DIFFERENT then the previous three years.Â
If you came here expecting some tell all or explaining how shitty we had it, I hate to break it to you but that isn't happening. WE GOT PAID TO WATCH BASEBALL AND HAVE FUN. If you weren't an asshole to everyone then you probably had a good time. If you want that stuff, you can probably find it from the most famous Cave Dweller. As for me, I couldn't have been happier to be in it and would 1000% do it again.Â
To everyone at MLB who is probably reading this, I'm sorry I drank all the beer and I can't thank each and every one of you enough for giving me the opportunity for being in something pretty special. You guys not only give me a chance to live every baseball fans dream but helped kickstart my career and actually provided a future for me. I miss all of you tremendously and will be seeing you all when I visit New York this Spring.Â
