the concept of hawks basically having a parasocial relationship with endeavor from childhood to his early hero days never ceases to amuse me. that ranking ceremony made it clear that endeavor knew close to nothing about this guy on a personal level.

(they probably did know each other remotely, but hawks is kyushu-based, and the pre-shigaraki times have all might and are labeled "time of peace", meaning that there likely wasnt a lot of need for hawks to be in honshu before, except for safety commission things. to which endeavor was not invited. and with hawks shooting up the rankings as soon as he debuted there's less room for him to be a mere "assist" to endeavor. so they probably were barely acquainted)

so judging by how stiff endeavor was in kyushu, to both of them, high end was probably their first team up. nd it's clear through the manner in which, multiple times, endeavor was left not getting what hawks was thinking, that he was in the process of trying to figure this kid out. no familiarity at all.

however, hawks, on his end, rly has no issue making mental statements about endeavor and How He Is because he's been watching endeavor all this time from afar. he has the mentality of the fan who's been following his idol for longer than anyone and is like 'yeah i know you' even though, as his answer to dabi's video reveals, he didn't know shit about endeavor's private life

so yeah, baby hawks/teenage hawks with his parasocial relationship to endeavor, leaning against a giant endeavor poster in his house, whenever the safety commission asks him to do something illegal again "oh endeavor-san, we're really in it now"
