Day 1 Fox. I love foxes. Always have. There's something about their cunning and sharp faces, the way they are portrayed as beautiful human tricksters and loyal heavenly guardians. A few months back, I caught covid. I was so sick that I only got up to shower and eat. The whole day was spent in bed. By day 4, I had some energy and watched Komi San. I love how her friends don't reject her for being socially anxious and only being able to write instead of speak. And the soundtrack! So good, I was crying a few times just because the music hit my emotional side. I'm really happy how this turned out, especially the background. After the first layer, it looked so terrible and odd because I painted her eyes too dark. I left it for days with no intention to finish. But I really wanted to stop leaving my pieces unfinished and push through. Should I revive my feed? . . . Can you guess what I've been watching? My bad habit is turning my warm up sketch into something finished -,- Because of this, I never end up studying what I'm supposed to. Like, NEVER. . . . I hate numbers but once upon a time, I spent 2 years being a math person. What does this even mean? In high school, I sat beside a smart boy who got above average scores for math tests that 75% of the class (including me) was failing. One day, I was asking the teacher how to work out of the questions when she looked at me, then the boy and said, "You know, we can't help it that boys are just naturally better than girls at math." My heart is certainly not made of wood, but back then, it blazed as if fire had touched it. I wanted to prove her wrong -- this lady of the same gender as me who appeared not to believe in her female students. I studied hard for those 2 years -- I bought workbooks and did practice questions and filled up papers with solutions. I visited to the teacher's office so much after classes and after school that I became good friends with this teacher. I didn't hate her but her statement did provoke a "wtf" kind of moment in the teenager I was. In the end, I got the highest distinction in my final year test. I didn't expect to get an A with a + but I did. Even if exams are no longer the same and employers couldn't give a damn about your math scores, I think about this small personal achievement from time to time and feel satisfied. Boys can do math. AND so can girls. (Stereotypes and societal constructs are ridiculous, too.) Made a card for my friend who has a friend who is going abroad. Personalized gifts are the loveliest. I'm always surprised when friends are surprised by my cards. My love language is gifting so naturally I gravitate towards it. It doesn't hurt that I've been doing art forever too 😆 And I usually have long letters and thoughts to write, sappy as they may.
