Wednesday Reflections from Richard Skipper May 28, 2025 | International Hamburger Day | Word of the Day: Ambition
Happy Wednesday!
It's been way too long! How are you?
I hope this finds you well and thriving.
Today is International Hamburger Day, and yes—if you’ve ever been to The Laurie Beechman Theatre, you already know… the burgers are legendary. I always say: come for the show, stay for the hamburger. And if you’re joining me this Friday night, treat yourself to both.
But let’s go deeper for a moment.
What’s the most thoughtful thing someone has ever said about you? Not a casual compliment. A truth. A mirror. A moment of being seen.
Those are the words that spark something deeper—an ambition not fueled by ego, but by purpose. That’s today’s word: Ambition. When it’s driven by meaning, it becomes magnetic.
So—Who or what are YOU celebrating today? And just as importantly—How can I celebrate YOU? Hit reply. I mean it. I want to know.
And here’s a small action you can take right now: Call the first person who pops up in your email today and invite them to join you Friday night. Share the moment with someone who deserves to be in the room.
Speaking of shared moments…
Join me LIVE today at 3:10 PM ET at RichardSkipperCelebrates.com for a very special interview with the legendary Melissa Manchester, celebrating her 50 years in show business and debuting her brand-new show Musical Memoir.
She is thoughtful, generous, and as grounded as she is gifted. I can’t wait to share this conversation with you.
And just a few days later, I’ll be stepping into my own celebration:
Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Richard Skipper (But Were Afraid To Ask) Friday, May 30 at 7PM – The Laurie Beechman Theatre

#OTD in Hello, Dolly! History
2019: A production of the national tour of Hello, Dolly!, starring Betty Buckley as Dolly, was on stage at the Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC) in Durham, NC, from May 21st to May 26th.
Meet me in P-Town August 5th!
Richard Skipper Celebrates – May 24, 2025 International Tiara Day Word of the Day: Achievement Theme: How Do You Show Up on a Hard Day
Today is International Tiara Day. Not just a day for sparkle, but a moment to stand tall, hold your head high, and honor your worth. The question I’m sitting with today is this: how do you show up on a hard day?
Do you show up when you’d rather stay hidden? Do you keep going when the path forward feels uncertain?
That’s what I call achievement. The quiet, persistent kind. The kind no one may ever fully see, but that changes everything.
Today, I celebrate the people who keep showing up. The artists who keep creating. The humans who stay committed to kindness and purpose even on the days when it doesn’t come easy.
At twelve noon today, I will be the guest on a special edition of Richard Skipper Celebrates—interviewed by the distinguished author and film historian Foster Hirsch. It’s a rare privilege to have someone of Foster’s insight and legacy turning the spotlight my way. We’ll be talking about achievement, storytelling, staying power, and what I’ve learned from showing up time and again throughout my career.
Join us live at RichardSkipperCelebrates.com. I look forward to sharing this hour with you.
And of course, the countdown continues. We are now six days away from my return to The Laurie Beechman Theatre.
Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Richard Skipper (But Were Afraid To Ask) Friday, May 30 at 7 PM The Laurie Beechman Theatre, New York City

3 Things You’ll Only Experience at My May 30 Show
What makes Everything You’ve Always Wanted to Know About Richard Skipper (But Were Afraid to Ask) truly one-of-a-kind?
Here are three things you won’t get anywhere else:
1. Your Questions, Center Stage This isn’t a scripted cabaret — the audience drives the evening. I won’t see a single question beforehand. Your curiosity becomes the show.
2. Stories That Have Never Been Told From backstage memories to career-defining moments, you’ll hear the kind of tales that only emerge in real time — in a room full of trust and joy.
3. The Magic of Shared Discovery We’re in this together. No two shows are alike. It’s part performance, part celebration, part confessional… and all heart.

Time
Happy Saturday from Richard Skipper. I did a post on time today and wanted to share this with you.
Time has given me the wisdom to trust the silence between the notes… the courage to step onstage unscripted… and the perspective to know that presence is more powerful than perfection.
After 46 years in this business, I don’t take time for granted. I honor it by showing up — fully, joyfully, and truthfully — in every story I tell.
That’s why Everything You’ve Always Wanted to Know About Richard Skipper (But Were Afraid to Ask) is a show that could only happen now. It’s a living memoir shaped by the moment — one that unfolds through your questions, your energy, your presence.
If you’ve ever wondered what’s behind the curtain… what keeps an entertainer going decade after decade… or what happens when you let go of the script and lean into trust…
Join me Friday, May 30 at 7 PM at The Laurie Beechman Theatre. Let’s celebrate time, truth, and the beauty of being in the room together. Reserve your seat
You never know who might be there — and what might happen.

Let's catch up SOONER RATHER THAN LATER!
Richard Skipper
Happy Tuesday!
I hope this finds you well and thriving.
There’s a question I was asked recently that really made me pause:
“What’s the one thing nobody knows about you — and why does nobody know it?”
Here’s my honest answer:
For years, I’ve built my career celebrating others. I’ve paid tribute to icons like Carol Channing and Jerry Herman, and I’ve devoted myself to honoring Broadway history and legacy. But in doing so, I often hid behind the spotlight — comfortable lifting up others while leaving parts of myself off the stage.
Why has nobody known this? Because I’ve always been the host. The interviewer. The one shining the light, not standing in it. But now, I’m changing that.
I’m returning to The Laurie Beechman Theatre with a show that turns the spotlight back around — toward my own stories, my history, and yes, my truth:
Everything You’ve Always Wanted to Know About Richard Skipper (But Were Afraid to Ask) Friday, May 30 at 7 PM The Laurie Beechman Theatre, NYC Reserve Your Seat
The show is entirely unscripted, shaped by the audience’s questions, and brought to life in the moment through stories and songs. It’s not just a performance — it’s a conversation. And it’s the most personal work I’ve ever done.
I recently spoke about all of this and more in a heartfelt interview with Call Me Adam. Read the full piece here: www.callmeadam.com/blog/richard-skipper-interview-celebrating-an-entertainer
