Few (questionably) lucky beings across universes receive RIFT, a mysterious object that allows online and offline communication clear across dimensions. At first glance, it seems harmless, and either enjoyable or detestable depending on your tolerance. Either way, you find you're drawn to it in a manner you have no words for. Like it or not, RIFT is your own to keep now, and your experience with it is what you make it.
But never keep your guard low.

Hey, lovelies! This announcement is ... going to be a big one in terms of what's being announced, but I'll try to be as succinct and clear as possible.
So! RIFT has been open for a long time now--2 and a half years, just about! That's a long time to keep a realtime MFRP going, and every day, I remain very impressed and very happy that it's made it so far. I never would have guessed! I was expecting to have to move on in about three months. These 2 and a half years have been amazing, and me and Bird and Lati have loved sharing our ideas and passions with you all, and giving you all a place to hang out after a long day (or an already fun day!).
But, that's the thing. 2 and a half years is ... a long time, and at this point, we've felt that RIFT has run its course--the natural course that comes to every group, we mean. It's why we've been rather inactive lately, and we hate that it's been showing. It's not that we're uninterested in roleplaying, or in all of you, or are that busy that we can't be here. At some point, we realized that we definitely would be very active ... if we weren't in RIFT. We've hit a brick wall, so to speak. And not because we've just not thought of ways to gain motivation back -- we have! But we feel it's been a rather natural buildup that we can't exactly help. Again, RIFT has naturally run its course.
As can probably be guessed at this point, we've made the difficult decision to close RIFT on the 28th of this month.
Not to be dramatic, but I never wanted this day to come and typing this is not easy in any way, because RIFT is like another home for us, and we know it's the same for so many of you.
But that's the reason why we would rather take this route. We want RIFT to end on a good note, rather than ending with 2 members left because nothing new or exciting has been happening.
Now, with all of that out of the way, I unfortunately have more bad news. No, we will not allow characters to keep their memories for other MFRPs, nor will we allow our lore to be used anywhere else, in any capacity (UNLESS it's in private 1x1 or 3 person groups). No Degracept OCs can be made just because RIFT is dead. No RIFT worlds can be made. Don't take our OCs and RP them?!?!?! (Not that I actually think anyone here would, but I've heard some shit about RP in my 15 years of doing it...)
Buuut ... now for a series of good news!
- We won't be doing anything to make RIFT end IC. RIFTs will not be taken, and in fact, nothing will really be happening at all. We won't be having an event where anything cataclysmic happens, and such a thing was never even in the cards. Basically, everyone's stories will continue in spirit.
- Wild out with your muses! We don't really care what you all do with them at this point (provided, of course, they don't ruin someone else's time nor break rules). We decided not to complete the activity check in order to allow everyone to do whatever they want. We will also not be processing drops.
- The server will NOT be deleted and no one will be kicked, although the invite will definitely be deleted (please don't invite new accounts, we'll know if you do!) and the chats will be closed. The masterlist will also not become inaccessible. Basically, everything will become a cool fossil, and you're all a part of it!
- If anyone has ideas of some sweet things to do before the end of the month, you're free to suggest them to us! We won't be able to spearhead these things ourselves, but we'll definitely allow members to do so.
...And, I believe that's it! We won't be getting corny and saying goodbye or anything, because we don't see it as goodbye! This is the end of one path and the start of another, or whatever touching shounen quote you can think of.
More announcements might come between now and the 28th, but until then, take care! We've truly, truly loved this time with all of you, and we won't be forgetting RIFT or its importance to us, ever.
