Is Tumblr still active? Today I received an email telling me that Tumblr found adult content on a previous post that must be several years old.
I noticed a lot of activity here on Tumblr suddenly. I don't really use this site any more. Please follow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/rikgarrettphotography/?hl=en
This photograph is from a batch of film taken in Los Angeles, right before coronavirus put a hold on any future travels.
After months of silence, I'm happy to finally announce that my solo exhibition WONDERS OF THE UNSEEN WORLD will be opening on April 5th at the incredible Mortlake and Company in Seattle. Please do me the honor of attending. Wonder of the Unseen World is a photographic exploration of the myth is and lore of the Hollow Earth - a meditation on what lies at the center of the earth, and the obsession that takes over once one begins to delve beneath the surface. Opening reception April 5th 2018, 6-9pm Mortlake and Company, 121 Prefontaine Place South, Seattle

Pacific Northwest! I've been preparing new projects and it's time to get off my butt and take photographs. New projects will be varied, but I'll no doubt be squeezing in some familiar imagery. A couple of you wrote a while back about wanting to be involved in upcoming photographs. So if those people (and others so inclined) in Washington and Oregon would send me a message, I'd appreciate it. Thank you!
Closing my online store after 8/31. I've realized that I just don't have the right schedule nor the predisposition to have a continuous online store. I opened this portion of my site after the Earth Magic book was released, and now it's time to retire it. Until then, take 30% off of original work: http://www.rikgarrett.com
Censored crop of a one of a kind 8x10 aether field transparency, using a process that I devised to combine portraiture with Kirlian aura photography.
I brought 3 film cameras to the Seattle Erotic Art Festival last weekend, and had fun documenting the event. I scanned all of the film, and some of the results will likely be shared via the SEAF website soon.
Looking forward to showing two of my original mixed media pieces from my Symbiosis series at the Seattle Erotic Art Festival this weekend. I'll also be showing three prints from my Earth Magic series. Hope to see you all there!
Seattle, next weekend. Come see this and more of my darkroom handiwork in person at the Seattle Erotic Art Festival. Talk to me about things. Ok?
Detail of a full-body aura photograph. The original images are one of a kind, life size images on 10 foot long scrolls of photographic paper. I was inspired by Kirlian photography, method developed by a married couple in the mid 20th century to document invisible life forces photographically, but I was disappointed in the limitations of the process. Generally Kirlian photography is only able to document small items such as fingertips or leaves. So I poured over books and experimented like crazy until I was able to develop the series of modifications that allow me to make these full body images.
Haven't been to Portland in ages. What's worth seeing? Planning a quick reconnaissance mission, if just to visit Powell's. What else is not to be missed?
I think that the esoteric photo work of mine involving auras and other esoteric technologies is much more interesting than anything else, but it's much harder to work for social media "likes."
These full body aura photographs really need to be seen in person to be appreciated. Have any galleries weathered the storm of 2016? I would like to show these in person.
I've been considering starting a Patreon account. I was skeptical at first, but wonder if people would be interested in contributing a few dollars a month for a private blog where I share new scans of 20 years of archives. Possible live video in the darkroom or studio. Potential for physical artwork rewards. Would anyone have any interest? I'm open to suggestions.
I've seen the 2006/2016 thing that everyone is doing. These are both photographs of mine, but I also thought it would be fun to do one of these of my wife Jane, who doesn't use social media very much. The first photograph was taken in 2005, less than two months after we first met, and as "the High Priestess" was soon after exhibited in Seattle and New York. The photograph on the right was taken last month.
