Annuatim Update

Yes I titled this in Latin. And yes I had to get it translated. Just trying to be less boring on here....

Since my life is not boring in any way. The past 12+ months have been life changing. I’ll just get to it. - Laid off from my longtime job in events - Enjoyed unemployment for a month and binged on Cobra Kai - Learned some strategies in real estate investing and launched Homebase Property Group - Relaunched PanFocus Studios  - Found a new job in construction to pay bills - Adopted the best kittens ever and I.love.them - Relaunched We Heart Weekends  - Shifted my attention to financial education and building wealth (I ditched that project management certification) - Working on a new post-pandemic event with WeSparq

I think these are a lot and I’m busier than ever. Pray for me as I bust my ass.

In my photography world, I recently just got started into stock photography. Honestly, I’ve been trying for years and shooting what I can, but it’s just now that I finally got some work approved. I have all the lenses I need and all the bodies I could want (for now), I just need time to go out and go to more interesting places to shoot.

Music, back in my spotlight!

Kind of. I am struggling to commit to more band practices, but this is set to happen next February. My band, active from 2001 to 2007, will be back for a rare reunion show.

Hey hey hey! My domain is back, I have rioghernandez.com again. This lack of online presence is fully credited to a life of duties. 

Promise to get it charged up again! In the meantime, just some updates on what I have been up to (or not up to)... * I have unofficially quit my event photography operations as a business. This means I have no interest in running my own business, but I am totally still available and open to freelance work or assistant work to principal photographers.  * With that said, I am converting my photography to something less hectic. For many years now, I have placed so much desire in becoming a stock photographer, however, knowing how my life runs, I am not always out shooting. I am trying to change that. Along with this change, I am possibly considering to re-brand. But that is not so much an important concern. I did let panfocusstudios.com expire, so now it is panfocusstudios.net moving forward. 

* On the event front, this is on full blast still and no sign of slowing down. Since my last entry, I must have gone through two handfuls of events. I am still with The Filipino Channel.  * In design, it is pretty much a weak effort on my part. Nothing new here. * And music. Well, it has been a sad/joy ride not having much music in my life. Some days I miss it badly, most days I don’t have time to think about it. But I do have some plans for next year! The Little Bits are now down to 2 members, and I am contemplating about White Striping this (and I hate that band), but in my mind I would never agree to it permanently. In essence, it is “Under Construction.” Sputterdoll has some wild plans to get together as well, before my event season peaks again in the next year.  * Lastly, my Family Lifestyle blog has also been canned. Kinda. I lost the domain a long time ago, but I decided to keep it around as weheartweekends.blogspot.com anyway. I enjoy writing but it is always in the back burner. I had to de-prioritize a lot of the activities I took up, but I don’t completely plan to shut this down. It’s just....there.  That is about all I can say for now.

5th Bay Area Music For Kids

My band The Little Bits will be a part of the 5th installment of this family-friendly event. Featuring female musicians this year, the event focuses on the talents of community members who come together for this annual event to raise funds for Theatre Residencies Inc, and scholarships that support arts education.

Plastic makes great food packaging. It’s waterproof and flexible. And best of all, it’s impervious to all known bacteria — until now. Researchers have found a bacterium in the debris fields around a recycling plant in Japan that can feed off a common type of plastic used in clothing, plastic bottles and food packaging.

The bacterium is a new species called Ideonella sakaiensis, named for the Japanese city Sakai where it was found growing on plastic debris made from a type of plastic called PET or polyethylene terephthalate. “It’s the most unique thing. This bacterium can degrade PET and then make their body from PET,” says Shosuke Yoshida, a microbiologist at Kyoto University and lead author on the study published in Science on Thursday.
